Very central location. Near city Center (Plaza Mayor, Royal Palace, Puerta del Sol, also Reina Sofia museum and Atocha train station). There were many Tapas Bars and restaurants in all kinds of ratings (and price rages) nearby. Also, multiple Flamenco sites within about 2 km.
This is a wonderful Doubletree by Hilton, located in an old building that has been thoroughly renovated and upgraded, without losing its charm. Very new, sleek and modern, on a quiet sidestreet. We chose this hotel not only because we are Hilton Honors members (which is free to sign up, btw), but mostly because of its proximity to the Museo del Prado. We walked there in 5 minutes. It is also a 10-minute walk to Plaza Mayor, and less than a half hour walk to Palacio Real, not to mention numerous other museums and popular sites. Hubby became very ill while we were here, and Agatha was so helpful in having a doctor come to our room to attend him, saving us numerous hours in a hospital waiting room. She pushed this review over the top to 5 stars. And for foodies, it is just steps from Calle de Jesus where you can get some of the best tapas in the tourist district. They also include breakfast, although the buffet food is good, it is not always hot, and often cold. As HH members, we even scored a free upgrade, woo hoo! Can't do better than that.
