Avoid this hotel – extremely poor conditions.
We had a terrible experience during our stay. The rooms had a strong, unpleasant odor, and the hallways smelled even worse. The bathroom was in unacceptable condition, with visible mold and a general feeling of uncleanliness that raised serious health concerns.
We checked in around 10 PM and were disappointed to learn that the hotel has a strict no-refund policy—otherwise, we would have left immediately. We endured a sleepless night due to the discomfort and checked out first thing in the morning. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Pictures are deceiving, do not go by the pictures you see on their website.
The owner , that runs the place is amazing at first you will think he isn't but trust me he is such a kind man , i wont stay anywhere else just because he makes me feel so safe and welcome!!!
The day of travel I got some sort of stomach bug and couldn't travel. I tried calling, no one answered. My friends went over to cancel for me and the door was locked. They spent time ringing the doorbell, but no one ever came to amswer. They wouldnt allow me to cancel online. My friends said it was a good thing I didn't go because the outside perimeter was a dump and the whole thing looked like it was a horror movie waiting to happen. I lost money on that stat because 1- since I woke up so sick they didnt let me cancel same day... 2. I couldn't use my insurance because again - i couldn't cancel so i couldnt provide proof of cancelation and whatever made me so sick passed in a day and a half so come Monday i was feeling better and didnt go in to get tested for anything.
If you need to stay at a hotel close to WIU this is a good place to go! The service is accommodating and for a small fee we were able to check in early. If you’re looking for a squeaky clean stay then look somewhere else as you will feel like you’re roughing it here. For the cost and the location it works.
Manager was extremely helpful and polite. My check-in was quick and easy. The room is clean and smells nice. I have a big warm bed. I'm looking forward to a comfortable night stay here at Hotel Jackson.
There was no complimentary breakfast. The staff took pictures of my debit card when i checked in. The room was dirty and the sheets were stained. There was pubic hair covering the toilet. There was mold in the shower.
The manager at the front desk tried to charge us extra for us coming back to the room with extra people to grab more clothes for the evening. He stated we had more than 2 ppl in the room but we did not! We had multiple friends staying in the hotel and also near by. Yes they stopped by our room.
We have stayed at the recently renamed Jackson Hotel several times we're always impressed by the fact that it is clean clean there's plenty of pillows lots of towels and the staff is always extra friendly and helpful and did I mention that the rates are outstanding

The owner was great-he was accommodating when we needed to check in late and made sure we had rooms that were together for our group
For a one night stay it wasn’t the best. The bathroom was nasty and toilet didn’t like flush. They need new bedroom outfits put on the beds because those were all stained up. The breakfast selection was slim. I don’t recommend this place with kids or elderly.
This place is awful. I needed one night to stay and recuperate from a long trip before going further in my travels. I am disabled and have a service dog. He is certified and I have all of his paperwork. I was charged extra for a “cleaning fee” because of my dog. He is a service dog and I stayed one night. Meanwhile the room was disgusting. It smelled so bad that I had to leave the window open constantly to avoid vomiting. I would have went elsewhere but I was unable to receive a refund and had no transportation…Uber is non existent here.

I didn’t like that it was filthy with bedbugs, blood and urine and it smelled bad the proprietor would not give me my money back and I drove all the way from Chicago 4 1/2 hours away to drop my daughter off at college. I had to get it in my car and drive back because I could not stay there and couldn’t afford another hotel, I was done
