Just check in the so called 4 star hotel where there is no person to help with the luggage. Entered the very small rooms and just on checking the room found no dustbin in the toilet area. Also, no complimentary water bottles available and on asking at the reception was told that water at the sink is drinkable water or else use the paid bottle from the minibar. All this happened at the time 9:00 PM in the evening. Will have to see how the full stay will go.
We were slightly disappointed with the Novotel at Maastricht. We were charged for parking which we felt was not made clear and the attitude of the particular Reception person left a lot to be desired. The room was OK & the breakfast was excellent and the staff attentive.
Great location. Helpful and friendly staff at check in. Great you can open windows to let in the breeze. Disappointed dinner service. Waited over 20 minutes to have a dinner menu and drink order taken.
We stayed here as we were over for a training weekend ahead of upcoming Ironman The hotel was a bit tricky to find due to the new motorway layout going into Maastricht but once there we had a good stay Decent size carpark ,simple check in ,our room was a good size with a comfy double bed and double sofa bed The breakfast was excellent and we eat in the restaurant for one. Evening had a really nice meal The shuttle bus in to town was useful but it's only a 20 minute walk if you want to stretch your leg Overall very good and will be back for Ironman in the summer
Comfortable rooms, enjoyable meals for adults and children. Plenty of play opportunities for children. Friendly restaurant service. Convenient parking places. We enjoyed making use of the lobby bar before and after meals.
Arrived early evening, two superior rooms booked. Checked in ok, did mention we had booked superior rooms. No comment from staff at reception. Each room was on a different floor, right at the end of the corridors. What a disappointment, small, dark and the bathroom was tiny!!!! Also next to the service lift and cleaners cupboard, noisy in the morning. Even the tissue dispenser was empty. Went back down to reception, asked about the rooms, was told abruptly that we had booked standard rooms. Even when we showed the receptionist our email confirming our booking she just told us that wasn't on her system. She told us that the hotel was completely full, nothing she could do and didn't want to know about our confirmation email. She did arrange some compensation in the way of money off our meals, but this was also a hassle as she only wanted us to order off the ordinary menu and not the a la carte. The restaurant and bar staff were excellent, friendly and helpful, not like reception. Only thing is they need to know the difference between Vegan and vegetarian. We had just had a two week trip around Europe with two American cousins and stayed in many Ibis and Novotel hotels during this time. This hotel could learn a few things from other Novotels , in particular Wroclaw and Antwerp. To add insult to injury, the hotels corridors smelt strongly of cigarette smoke.
Stayed a few days in this hotel and was quite impressed the staff were friendly professional and helpful , the room was large , clean and well appointed and a very comfortable bed , breakfast had a good basic selection of hot and cold dishes with again friendly staff they also a free hourly shuttle service to the city centre and train station the only minor downside we found was that in the room they supplied cheap paper cups for tea and coffee and plastic glasses for any drinks seemed to cheapen the experience but we would return if in the area again
Funny: the building is a 1-on-1 copy of the Novotel in Eindhoven, which I have rated average. So much also depends on the staff. Maastricht is one of the most welcoming cities in the Netherlands anyway. And it shows here as well. Though a bit outside of the city centre, great place for meetings. Very quiet for a good night's rest. Recommended!
We had a great time in Maastricht with so much to see. Hotel was amazing and they are always ready to oblige you with any of your requests. Very helpful information on local places to see and they have a shuttle bus from the hotel every day from 10am every hour until late. Restaurant meals were delicious and breakfast was plentiful. If you like walking it is an easy walk into the main part of Maastricht or catch the shuttle in and walk back. We walked out to the North Caves whilst we were there and did the tour of the limestone caves and found it very interesting. Went to see Andre Rieu Castle and house and took lots of photos. Lots of wonderful restaurants in the Square to choose from to eat and all are very busy. Every Friday they have the markets and you can get almost anything you want from fruit, vegetable, meat, fish, chicken, material, clothes etc. Quite an experience to walk through them and see what is available. Definitely worth the trip.
If you stay on business in Maastricht, the Novotel is ideally located, just next to the highway. Dinner was really good and selection available was quite big. Only the breakfast would need some upgrade!
