We enjoyed our very short stay at Novotel. We had connecting rooms , they were clean, bed was comfortable. We would definitely choose this hotel again. The location is good as well, from the hotel to the city was not far n we could park our car where we always parked and walk through the park to the city centre. Breakfast at the hotel was excellent. The reception staffs were helpful n friendly.
The hotel is a long way outside the centre of Maastrict. The rooms are in need of cleaning up. The resturant is very expensive breakfast cost £20. They then charge us for using the hotels own car park.
Unfortunately, the reception service at arrival was underpar if compared to the general Accor offer. After arrival in the early evening (18-19 hours), we had to wait for some time before the receptionnist moved from an adjacent room back to the reception. Given information about the city went no further than what was exactly asked and our question to get adjacent rooms was simply ignored (if no rooms on the same floor were available, at least some relating comment would have been appreciated). The hotel rooms corresponded to the high level I usually experience in Accord hotels.
The only good thing was the tiny play area with the Xbox motion sensor games. There was also a foosball table (pay extra). There is also a swimming pool and an open green area with swings, a slide etc which is good for families with kids. All of this was closed since it is winter. We stayed at Novotel Maastricht during the Christmas weekend. Novotel is deteriorating at an increasingly fast rate but this one was the worst yet! The below are in comparison to other hotels of similar standing and also other Novotels (my most recent experience before Novotel Maastricht being Novotel Aachen a few months ago). 1. Not enough options in the breakfast spread for vegetarians and vegans (In other 4 stars, they serve grilled tomatoes, baked herbed potatoes, oatmeal porridge etc for vegetarians and vegans especially for the kids). There is just the standard cornmeal and muesli, fruit, bread and cheese. And lots of eggs and meat varieties. 2. There was multivitamin juice, orange juice, apple and mint-infused water. Yay for the infused water! No fresh juice. Not even the orange juice was fresh-pressed. I have seen every hotel in the Netherlands have the vers geperst orange juice machine!! Not this one. 3. ONE tiny bottle of water in your room for the entire stay. 4. Just 2 tiny coffee creamers replaced in the room in the morning. 5. I looked everywhere for the body lotion but only found the bath gel and shampoo (which were never replaced). Did not bother to ask. 6. Uncomfortable pillows, dirtiest carpets in the rooms. The rooms look like they need a good round of refurbishing. 7. Housekeeping doesn't change soiled linen! We went to breakfast thinking it would be changed anyway when they were cleaning but, to our utter shock, no! Upon request, we were told it would be changed but no one turned up and then we checked out! 8. No one ever charged us for baby's milk in the bottle before and I am talking about hotels in Netherlands. We have got 2 bottles a day for the entire duration of our stay before. Here, we asked them one time, just one time, and they charged 2 euros for a 150 mls of milk in the baby's bottle!!! 9. Lastly, the most important one, extremely extremely racist staff at the restaurant except for this one guy ( I should have got his name). Folks at the reception were a tad better. You are, perhaps, treated better if you speak the local language and are of a different colour maybe?
Having experienced other Novotel properties around the world, I was expecting a simple yet functional and clean hotel. My experience fell way short of what I expected. The toilet seat was broken; the space in the room was extremely tight (yes, I understand European standards are different to the rest of the world, but this was advertised as a room for 4 people; I had to move the 'seating area' - a chair and a small round table - away to be able to open a sofa bed for my kids). The chair in the seating area was broken (when I tried to move it, the arm pulled off and I had to spend a few minutes pushing it back in place); and the carpet had a bad stain. If the facilities were mediocre (to say the least), service was uninspiring and downright below expectations. After arriving I decided to go out with my children to visit the Maastricht Christmas markets, so I asked reception if they could get the room ready with the sofa bed open and made. The response? That it was easy to do and I should make it myself. I also pointed out that there were only 2 towels in the bedroom and there were three of us, and I was told to go to a closet at the end of the corridor and get more myself. The next day, as I checked out, I noticed they had overcharged me (they had added parking to my bill, even though we travelled to Maastricht by train and arrived on foot!). I then asked if there was transport to the train station and the young guy at reception, in half broken english, told me that yes, in about 10 mins. When the 10 mins arrived and we went out to get in the minibus, a large family took all the seats on the minibus. I asked the young guy (who was now the driver of the minibus) how were we supposed to get to the train station now that all seats had been taken; his answer? "But you didn't book the minibus"!! After pointing out that he had made no mention that we needed to book it, he said he'd come back for us - and luckily he did! For a hotel that charges over 200 euros per night, this was downright dissapointing. My AirBnB in Utrecht cost me a fraction of this price, offered a larger area with a kitchen, and the host had much better manners than anyone at the Novotel. I know what I will do next time I am travelling and have a choice between Novotel and AirBnb!!
Went to Maastricht for a bike fare in the MECC in Maastricht. The hotel is situated about 2.5 km to the MECC so it is easy to do on foot to get there. Went to the MECC with the shuttle service of the hotel and came back on foot. Clean room with nice bed, no complaints about the room. Diner was ok , breakfast was very good with lots to choose from. Service of the hotel was OK. We had a Bongo bon, so we only had to pay for diner and the 7.5 € fee for the car parking. Overal a very good stay.
Stayed here on the way to the south of France from Hook of Holland. Clean rooms, friendly staff and good breakfast. Rooms were clean and tidy. Very convenient to get to from the motorway and easy to get to Central Maastricht for a day trip.
Nice stuff, clean bathroom and dirty carpet ! Average hospitality of the stuff, very good breakfast and bar. In general I am not sure that I will recommended to my colleagues or partners at all ! 5 of 10 points ! Not value for the money in general !
The location is a bit out of town, but is good for people travelling with a car, as the hotel is close to highway, security parking. The room carpets is old and need replacement. The cleanliness is not at the required level. An expensive lobby bar - 7 euro per 1 liter mineral water.
2 hours to serve a room service, with 2 reminder calls, 20 min to obtain your key with a fast check-in, no place on the parking, ... Clearly too busy and not enough ressources :( Not at the level of Novotel reference !!!
