Hotel is a minute's walk from train station ... very conveniently located. Just 10 minutes from city centre. Clean and comfortable hotel. Good breakfast (but could be better). Enjoyed the stay. Staff very competent and helpful

Room was clean, but a little bit oldfashioned. The breakfast was very nice, fresh and a great choice. Friendly personnel and a perfect location, because in front of the trainstation and nearby the city centre.

Spending a weekend in Maastricht with the family for a very special family occasion. So the Grand Hotel, to expect some additional, was chosen. At the end the stay was good, but not very special. It just missed a lot of tiny details; the room was looking very old with its red carpet and dark wooden furniture. The amenities in the bathroom where missing. We had three rooms and they all looked very different. Some a bit more modern. The breakfast was nice, but broken machines and egss from a package, missed out here also. The overall score is still good, but we where expecting a bit more from a 4 star Grand Hotel.

I am a hotel General Manager and have opened and managed hotels in the UK, Greece and Dubai from 3 to 5 star properties. This does not fall within the classification of a 4 star property. The staff do not smile, don't man their posts correctly, don't apologise when something is wrong, use hotel management students with limited rights, drink coffee in full view of guests, have long chats while leaving the guests unattended. Then there's the building: old, dark and in need of a refurb. I probably would not have complained but when you pay 168 Euros for a Saturday night, then I cannot see the value of this place. On arrival our room was cold, so I turned on the heating but 2 hours later it was still not satisfactory. So I went to the desk and was given 2 keys for other rooms to check if it was acceptable. These rooms were colder than mine so I went back again but the hotel management trainee couldn't override and therefore asked a colleague to help. She never looked at me, grabbed a key and disappeared in the elevator. On return, she explained that she upgraded me and checked the heating and it was satisfactory - no smile, no apology. I thanked her for the upgrade and moved. The room was much warmer and was a duplex. The TV had many channels and many were in English, which was great as I am a tourist and don't speak Dutch. The breakfast was interesting. We arrived with only 2 other tables occupying the restaurant. A waitress asked for a room number and then disappeared behind the wall where she talked LOUDLY with 2 of her colleagues for 18 minutes! Never once did anyone explain the buffet layout or tell us it was self-service (a 4 star standard is to serve tea & coffee to each table). It was only when she needed to drink her coffee in front of everyone that she then realised the restaurant had now had more people and then all of a sudden the other 2 waitresses appeared. All of a sudden they began to run around asking everyone for their room numbers. How embarassing! Then one of the girls grabbed the brown bread loaf with her hands! No gloves! No standards! No interest! Very sad to see as a hotelier. Finally we went to pay and were told there's a 19 Euro charge. "For what?", I asked. The student couldn't tell me. She went to the back again and asked her colleague, then came forward and removed the charge by saying it was an error from the system during the upgrade. No apology, no smile and no farewell or "Please come back and stay with us again" or "How was your stay?". These are 4 star standards and are compulsory on a guests departure. There were no managers present to enforce any standards whatsoever and therefore the staff do whatever they want. To the General Manager / Owner: This hotel has a lot of potential but your staff don't care, are left unsupervised and the rooms are substandard (plastic cups in bathrooms for a 4 star?!)

I ended-up here as nothing else was available. It was expensive ant I did not feel home. Very snobbish clients and the personnel was also not so down to earth. I would not return there. Sorry. i'll search earlier for a place to make sure I have a more fun stay.

Stayed here one night while heading to France. Just across the street from the train station but construction going on so it was a bit of a challenge to get to their parking. Checkin went fast and smooth as all of our stuff was ready. Room was nice, bathroom was big and clean Room had a nice balcony. Breakfast was fantastic.

Conveniently across the street from the main train station, this hotel provides courteous and excellent service. A full breakfast is provided everyday with your stay, free wifi, a very nice swimming pool and immediate access to shopping, restaurants and entertainment. I would definitely stay there again!

We managed to get an upper level room that had a mezzaine level and staircase up to the bedroom and bathroom, we were most impressed! The lounge area at the bottom of the stairs was huge and well appointed with lovely leather lounges. We could not fault the room, everything we needed as there and the bed was most comfortable. It is a short walk to the river and around 10 mins to walk to the other side of town. In addition, we found a great laundry to wash and dry our clothes just 5 minutes away (the other side of the railway station) and it included a cafe so we could have breakfast whilst our clothes were washed. The breakfast options in the buffet at this hotel were outstanding and we were most happy with the customer service as well.

A nice hotel on a good location near the railway station. Excellent service from the reception, making you feel welcome after a long journey. Also the swimming pool is very nice. the location in the city is wonderful, the rooms are quiet.

This hotel was quite expensive for what it offers. The standard is really low compared to other 4 stars in the Netherlands so I would be very careful with this one. Things that were not up to 4-star standards: breakfast cleanliness building facilities The hotel needs a renovation and needs to freshen up in order to apply for a 4-star status. There is no water in the room for guests at least upon check in. The bathtub had mold. Overall it needs work. I do not recommend this hotel in its current state.
