Hotel Monastère, translated from "monastery", is situated in the city centre of Maastricht, a beautiful city in the south of The Netherlands. Everything is within walking distance, whether it be the shops, such as "the Scottish Pimpernel" for great woollen clothes, the famous Saint Servaas basilica or eateries such as "van de kaart" where we had a great meal or a stroll in the city parc..it's all within easy reach and oh'almost forgot to mention the river Maas where you can board for a one hour cruise..great fun! Hotel Monastère was simply impeccable with excellent rooms with a TV which actually delivered what it promised; lots of channels!, a bar, a coffee corner, and a sumptuous dinner at our last evening. No, you won't find monks in this ancient restructured monastery turned hotel but for the rest..have a go!!

Due to the location, they don’t have a parking facility. The single solution is to park a few hundred meters away and carry the luggage over the cobble stone street, which is unpleasant if it is raining and you have more that one suitcase. Very central and walking distance from restaurants and other interesting points. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is modern, maintains however the historical side quite visible. Very comfortable mattress, good pillows, modern bathroom with good shower. Very good breakfast. Very friendly waiters.

Kinky’ - is the best way to describe this hotel. The building used to house a convent and church and has been imaginatively transformed into a ‘different’ hotel. Very clean and very comfortable, although rooms (on top floor) are a little crammed. Many unique features, such as sensor operated floor lights. Naturally not all innovations are appreciated. However nice stay with nice restaurant attached.

Beautiful bar in Maastricht, but when ordering drinks: Ask for the pricelist otherwise they will give you the most expensive wine from their list. (evenso while cleaning the bar etc.). Visiting 8/13/2019

Lovely hotel and staff. Highly recommended. Central to the town centre and all major tourist attractions. Good size bedroom. View of Main Street leading to square. Excellent breakfast with great choice of food We will definitely stay again.

Fairly new hotel in Maastricht in a refurbished old building. Great location, right in the historic city centre, beautifully designed rooms with arty objects, perfect bed and duvet. Very hospitable welcome. A must to try out

My daughter and I made a last minute booking at the Monastère. We checked in at about 7:30pm and got the last room. The hotel is well designed and the gentlemen at the front desk in the evening was kind and helpful (the morning front desk crew on the other hand couldn’t be bothered) but I was shocked to find that our room was clearly a converted office or closet literally right next to the main entrance of the hotel (see photo - that is the door to our room (100) right next to the front door - couldn’t be any closer). It was loud from the street noise and people coming in and out of the hotel. I was woken up in the middle of the night from people standing outside our window talking loudly after leaving the bars at closing time. It wasn’t a great feeling for me (a woman) traveling alone with my 5-year old daughter. I’m sorry, but you can’t charge €150 for a room like that. Or at least need to tell people so they can make their own decision. It’s clear the hotel wants to squeeze every last cent from the facility without truly thinking about the guest experience and hospitality. Truly disappointing. Make sure to ask about the room you are getting before checking in/paying and that it is not Room 100!

I've just returned from my 3rd and probably, and unfortunately, last stay at this hotel. It really is excellent and I am very sorry that I will not need to visit Maastricht again otherwise I would certainly stay again. I find the hotel well appointed and very relaxing. On this occasion we had a problem with a hire car which was sorted out quickly and efficiently by reception staff. Can't praise the staff and hotel enough - well done and thank you!

I stayed just for one night but enjoyed every minute in the hotel. The staff was great, Robin(I think was her name) checked me in and gave me everything I would want to know about the area. The room was given was FABULOUS. For the price and the location, such a gem. I can’t wait to book there again.

The interior of the hotel is very nicely done, very stylish, beds were good, and it is located well. But unfortunately, I must agree with some comments made by others already in August last year - and that means that no change was considered by the management since then. Yes, the good quality of the bed and the cleanliness of the room and bathroom are most important, but there was literally no place to leave clothes. No closet, no shelves, and no luggage rack either. Just a few hooks on a paravent, which may work for one night, but not for a longer stay or when stopping over with a bit more luggage. As frequent traveller, I just don’t want to collect my stuff from the floor; and particularly not for this price per night. The design ideas are great but execution is sometimes poor, such as the installation of the windows and their shutters (windowsills will require mending soon), or the holder of the shower head. It will be a place to recommend, if the management would review the details of each room and consider a couple of improvements.
