As the hotel is conveniently located opposite the Maastricht hospital that I unfortunately have to visit regularly because of my wife's medical condition, I have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions. It's high time that I write a review, because it really is an excellent place. It's such a relief to know that whatever the hospital has in store for us, I never need to worry about a comfortable place to sleep and a good meal. The hotel itself is really good: it has everything you could need, and it's modern, well-organized, spacious and clean. But what really sets it apart is the staff. These people go out of their way to help you out. My first very positive experience was actually when I wasn't even a guest. Because of her treatment, my wife couldn't stomach the hospital food and we randomly went to the adjacent hotel around noon to see if something there appealed to her. At that time, both the breakfast area and the restaurant were closed, but the staff whipped up a fresh, healthy and delicious 'brunch' for my wife regardless - free of charge. They haven't let us down since. From helping to find a lost keychain to allowing me to take meal from their very nice dinner restaurant over to the hospital - they do it all with a smile. In my experience, that attitude is somewhat rare in the hospitality industry in The Netherlands. If you need to be at the hospital or, hopefully, for something more fun at the also adjacent MECC convention center, this is absolutely the place to be. And because it's only a short commute to the city center by bus (stops in front of the hotel) or train (3 minute walk to Randwyck plus 5 minute train journey) it's also a solid choice for a weekend trip to Maastricht. I don't give out perfect scores very often, but the level of service merits just that.
Second time there for the University, and this is perfectly located. It is 20-min walk to the city center, or 5 minutes by train. It is efficiently run, quiet, and clean. The breakfast is very good. No complaints with anything.
Arrived at the hotel late in the evening. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming. Room was clean and spacious with great facilities. Decided to have breakfast in my room which was fresh and of a good standard, also had room service which there were no issues. Had a meal in the restaurant where the staff were welcoming, as it was mid-week it was quiet but the food was lovely and did not take long to arrive. Would stay there again if I found myself back in the region.
This hotel is next to a conference centre, and a 20 minute walk to the city. Although the reception is quite grand, it is on the whole a bland hotel. The superior double room was spacious but didn't appear to offer any more than the standard rooms others in our party had. A faulty window handle was not fixed, despite my request to the receptionist who thought it amusing I wanted it fixed that day - the window wouldn't close properly. On at least one occasion the room wasn't serviced, or serviced properly - towels, replace empty tissue box, clean properly, replace used cups/coffee supply etc. Soap wasn't provided. The main restaurant was pricey, particularly the wine ( e32.50 for a bottle of Pinot Grigio?) and service not brilliant. We had an issue with dietary requirements which the manager said he would check but never did. Apart from that food was quite good. Breakfast was also pricey, though freshed-cooked eggs were good and there was a good selection. Parking was also very expensive - more than twice the local public car-park which is an option worth considering. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel is situated near by Exhibition and concert hall, Maastricht university and huge hospital complex within 30 min. walk to old city. Nice facility and friendly personal, but some trainee at the desk having problem with credit card terminals. Free WiFi, bit expensive restaurant and bar. There was no air conditioner in the room, but fan in wardrobe! Few buss stops in front of hotel connecting to railway station and city center. Good quality breakfast with variety of food and fresh drinks.
Hotel is ok, restaurant very good, but the airco sounded like an boeing 747, way too loud. Couldn't keep the window open because of the loading bay, where trucks where unloaded, right under my window.
Stayed for Andre Reui concert. Bus into town straight from outside hotel so we could go into town for the day. Room very well presented. Breakfast fantastic with so much choice. Since staying we have become NH rewards members and have stayed in their hotel in Gent.
I was very angry with myself for falling for the hotel's claim of renovated "new style" rooms. The room (that was charged with a premium) was still quite depressing, cheaply renovated, with a below-par bathroom, damaged phones that looked like they were of the original building date of the hotel many decades ago, washable wand paint, weird flooring, etc. The booked King bed was not available either. When walking along the corridors, remains of room service stood in front of rooms for hours and also the next morning. Breakfast was made with cheap ingredients (bread, spreads, bottled standard juices, etc.) and was a mass event for what seemed to be mainly a bus tour customer base.. Staff quality was mixed from extremely friendly to extremely careless and unfriendly. Given the options in Maastricht, I thought I made a very bad choice with this hotel. It is surely a hotel in which you will survive, but surely not a four star level and surely entirely inacceptable at the price asked (approx. 100 euro, in non-trade fair time).
Extremely clean and spacious room at a very reasonable price. Very friendly staff on the front desk who were able to assist with any questions. Would happily stay again if I ever come back to Maastricht in the future. It's a short walk/cycle to the town centre and the old town which can be done by going along the river. Bikes are available to hire at a very reasonable price. Lovey having a 12pm checkout as it allowed me to have a lie in the day after the race. The room we stayed in didn't have aircon (they did have a fan that we didn't use) however we still found it cool enough to sleep in even thought it was hot outside.
The hotel was perfect for us. It was immaculate, the room was spacious and the staff helpful. The hotel is placed approx. 40 mins walk into the town centre and more importantly Vrijtof Square for Andre Rieu's amazing concert. The walk takes you from the hotel along the beautiful river to Maastricht town centre. We were a little confused by the route to the hotel parking. When reception say left and left again, do not cross the first road, it really is immediate left and left again (it feels like you are driving in England on the left hand side!) Also, the car park is the multi-storey locked car park and not the open car park at the rear (again we were lost, but we provided some amusement to the chap at the other end of the help button!) I cannot recommend this hotel enough and we will definitely be booking up again, both this hotel and to see their local romantic legend, that is Andre
