Hollywood Historic Hotel

3.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Good location for Hollywood touring or visiting friends and family. Great parking, walking distance to Paramount Studios. Funky, mid century decor. Smallish rooms but big compared to NYC rooms. Good restaurant-bar in the lobby. Enjoyed it very much.

Generally, I'm a fan of finding budget hotels that deliver excellent value, and usually I am pretty good at finding them. Not this time. Hollywood Historic is not exactly at the heart of Hollywood, necessitating an Uber/Lyft or transit every time you want to go anywhere, even to the Walk of Fame. Second, much of the surrounding neighborhood is run down. Now about the actual hotel. The staff was friendly and the room was reasonably clean, and that's about the only good thing I can say about this place. The bathroom door kept getting stuck (locking us in the bathroom), and we complained during our first night there. We stayed 3 nights and it was never fixed. Cleaning service would not come back in an hour upon requesting one day when we happen to be in around 3 pm getting some rest before going out for the afternoon. Of course, we were gone the entire morning (since about 8 am), and the room was never cleaned nonetheless. The room had only a portable heater (thankfully we did not need heating much), and that's tacky to say the least. The bathtub would not hold water so we could not use it as a tub. We were told that was because of California's drought regulations. I am not stupid. I have stayed in other California hotels during the drought, and none of them stopped their tubs from working as a ... tub. Overall, we did alright. It wasn't horrifying. Things weren't dirty. The bed was fine. But the stay was absolutely not worth it.

Great location, clise to sutes and nain Blvd wirh attractions. Awesome restaurant with in the hotel

Very positive experience at this classic hotel. I would stay here again and recommend to friends.

Easy to travel to Hollywood scenes the walk of fame

Friendly staff, and an interesting hotel. We've stayed here twice now, and will stay here again if we find ourselves in LA in the future. It's not super fancy or anything, but the price is great and it's a cool looking hotel.

The room was comfortable and clean, but you can hear sounds from other rooms quite easily. I wasn't able to sleep very well because I could hear the heavy steps of the person who was staying above me (it was so loud, it sounded like stomping) from around 4 am).

Nice stay for the price. Close to everything in that general part of Hollywood. Lots of cool shops on Melrose and Fairfax. Definitely staying again soon.

We needed a place to stay for one night close to a party we were attending in the historic district of LA. It was quiet and the beds were comfortable. All the other hotels we looked at were priced at $200 + +, and we got a great deal for this on Orbitz for Saturday night. It is easy to get to Hollywood, downtown LA and the freeways from here. I wouldn't walk around the neighborhood and feel safe, but the parking lot was well lit and located right behind the hotel.

Priced less than other hotels in area. However, very dated and located away from restaurants and activities. Has own restaurant but doesn't open until 6:00 p.m. and closed on Sundays. Staff at desk was helpful with directions.

We stayed 3 nights in the Hollywood Historic Hotel. The staff was VERY friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

My stay here was great. I loved everything from the decor to the lay out of the room. The host, Hans, was great and so was practically everything else. I would definitely stay here again.

It is a historic landmark and a hotel experience from 1927 when it was built. A very nice new restaurant. Everything is smaller, like the 1920's. example, the elevator fits two people with one luggage each. Fun and very nice. Not a luxury hotel.

decent old hotel right on Melrose. near many Hollywood studios and attractions. only thing i didn't like was being charged for parking.

This was a great vintage hotel! It was beautiful and has some great history. You can see the Hollywood sign from your room! Close to Hollywood Blvd, paramount Pictures and Raleigh studios! Would visit again!

Calm quiet place to stay. Surrounding area seems shady, but the hotel was updated while keeping the feel of an old historic building.

Room isn't air conditioned, but did have a window A/C unit that we turned on immediately upon entering the room and it cooled down fairly quickly. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was small but it worked. Oveall, it was fine for one night but I wouldn't want to stay there long-term.

I loved the historic charm of this hotel! The rooms were comfortable and very clean but that's all the hotel has to offer. There was a tiny coffee pot in the room but at least free coffee in the lobby would have been nice. Its not a terrible neighborhood but its still Hollywood, and they are no restaurants around and the closet convenience store was a block away. It was awesome waking up every morning to the sight of the Hollywood sign out the the window!!

Great location for visiting Paramount Pictures and Larchmont Village. The room rate was a little high for no breakfast amenities although the parking was free and convenient. The check-in and check-out times were more flexible than most other places. The woman at the front desk was most helpful when asking about directions or places to eat or visit that would be interesting to see and experience.

just I wait for 2 hour for check in but thats fine
