Sad to see this hotel falling apart. The rooms and the building needs at least a good paint job. The windows of the hotel were covered with dirt from years of not cleaning. Plus didn't have a coffeemaker in the room nor any of the basic things that are in hotel rooms at this price range. If they want to save money there are so many better ways other than not placing a qtip in the room or a coffeemaker. So many better places and options to stay at this price. Won't recommend it at all. The staff was very nice but it seemed the hotel doesn't have a manager. At times the whole place seemed chaotic not because there were too many guests rather the staff was running around very unorganized. This place was great now it is just another hotel that is tired of serving.

The carpet was still wet from the cleaning but the smell was truly revolting. We got an expeditious room change though. A 58 bucks parking valet seems outrageous to me.

Very nice last-minute stay. Staff were friendly. Great location.

Check in is simple. Rooms are outstanding. Bar, pool, lounge, all excellent. Although we stayed in BH, the staff was even a little to snobby for my liking. Will stay no where else in LA.

The Hotel is nice and clean. There is no staff to help. The W Hollywood is way better

A good rate made this night absolutely perfect. I love the W in general, but the staff here really makes it perfect.

Stayed just for one night, but the staff made it memorable! Cool hotel, great amenities.

Great place to stay! It was centrally located to the places we wanted to be and close to our friends.

the W is always great. consistant, nice vibe. a little trendy. they upgraded me to a jr suite which made me very happy

I stayed here while looking at UCLA and visiting some friends. The hotel was very nice, though a bit busy because of graduation events. It is perfectly located to get to UCLA and in a nice neighborhood.

Cons: - I asked for a room located in a quiet area, since I needed to study and sleep early. They placed me in a room that was directly across from a church that had bells chiming on the hour until 10pm (that's music + 10 long chimes at 10pm). - No blackout shades. Light peeps through the installed white blinds and very see-through white curtains. - AC/heat does not work. I turned it up to 80F since I was freezing (previously set to 70F), but nothing happened. I could also hear the fan blow all of the time in the living room are of the guest suite, even though I had set the thermostat to "auto" NOT "on all the time." - One of the bath towels had stains. Ew. - The only way to get to the lobby or second floor is by using the elevator. There's no option to take the stairs to either of those levels, stairs end in emergency exits only. - A plumber should fix the exposed sink and shower piping as some of the decorative faucet connections were loose and/or rusty. Pros: - Complimentary Dasani bottled water and apples. - Complimentary headphones in gym. - Overall, quiet and clean. - Complimentary lobby internet can somewhat reach the 4th floor rooms. - Extremely enthusiastic and eager valets. - Recycling bin in guest room encourages guests to recycle, YAY! - Decent room lighting in both office and bedroom areas of guest suite.

I have stayed at W's Westwood location so many times over the last five years, I can't even count them. The proximity to UCLA has always been the big draw for me as my husband spent many weeks in UCLA Hospital. He has recently passed, but I found myself exhausted after flying into LAX after a business trip and booked a night to rest. The staff is always welcoming, the rooms quiet and comfortable. The bars and restaurants are great. I just have nothing bad to say about this hotel.

What can I say? It's the W and a great location!! I recommend this to anyone!

Very uneven staff; some excellent, especially valets and some of front desk. Others seemed like they'd never been trained. Rooms are of a holiday Inn level with a pretension at being something else. furnishings, fixtures and bad are not best quality. Pool is much smaller than the advert leads you to believe. Location is a plus.

The staff is fine, ready to help and pleasant, but the swimming pool experience totally destroys the image of the hotel (and of the W brand by the way). I decided to go to LA, not to a party hotel in Vegas, so I do not expect to find people at the swimming pool who are not even guests and who behave like cheap Vegas visitors (eating pizza from a paper plate seated in the pool, really?). Plus as a guest of the hotel I have not even been able to use the pool as I wanted as it was overcrowded. I even had to finally remove myself someone else's dirty pool towel as they had abandoned it there and the pool girl was nowhere to be seen! Rooms are decently nice for that kind of hotel, lack a little 'freshness'. I wanted to try the W brand to see how it would compare to Kimpton that is usually my favorite, and Kimpton is definitely one step higher.

Great hotel that is walking distance to UCLA. The rooms we're very comfortable and quiet for being in the city.

The hotel was very nice, the staff were VERY friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the hotel was very full, partly because an NBA team was staying there. I ended up with one of the less than spectacular rooms, right across from the elevator. The only real problem was slight noise from outside the room. You could sometimes hear people getting on and off the elevator, and there was some mystery whooshing sound from above. All in all, i'd definitely stay there again, but wouldn't take a room ending in "00"!

We arrived at the W hoping to be able to park in an outside lot to avoid the Valet Parking fee ($32 for overnight guests); unfortunately, there wasn't a parking lot nearby. Second, the University Religious Conference Center was located right behind our bedroom so we could hear the students talking loudly and playing their music. In addition to the noise outside, we could hear guests going on and off the elevator in addition to the toilet flushing from the room above us. On the flip side, the hotel is very posh. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of our accommodation and was pleased with the free car service as well.

Airconditioning vents and service not working well. Vents were cleaned but room still too hot. Seemed to be a problem as guests had fans in their rooms

Location was great for my purpose, and I like the hotel aside from the few gripes that follow. Other guests crashing about at 3 am was not so great. Also, when I raised the temperature in the room it caused the temp to fall. I had to turn if off to keep from freezing. The size of the sink in the bathroom was annoying - it felt kind of like I was back on the airplane.
