We stayed in a tiger room which was lovely had bunk beds in room as well so good for families, only two of us. Must say it is more of a theme park than a zoo great for kids. We had booked the African safari lady walked us to the truck telling us wot we would be seeing. Got into truck then other lady said not doing African safari today so we taking you on the giraffe experience. Why wasn’t we told this?? Have done Giraffe feeding before better than this one. Feel we wasted £64. If we had been told would have rather had money back.
Family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children of 5) have just returned from a 2 night trip to Chessington world of adventures. We booked this stay as our holiday aboard was cancelled. We arrived at the safari hotel to a lovely warm welcome. We were very thrilled to have be chosen as hotel guests of the day and had been upgraded from a standard room to an animal themed room! We also received 2 fast track tickets for the adventure park, which came in handy as the park was busy on the Friday. The children were given lanyards and told there were badges to collect throughout their stay. Which made them very excited The lady at the hotel desk explained that the children could come down and watch a film in the hotel lobby as there was no entertainment on during our 2 nights stay. But there would be some on the Friday if we were staying later. When we got up to the room it was clean and fresh and even had sweets waiting for the children (they were even more excited). As well as the sweet there was a little game for the children to find their first badge. This kept us busy for a while before we went down for tea. For the first night we ate at the beefeater which was just down the road from the hotel. Waking up fresh on the Thursday we went straight down to breakfast. There was a buffet style breakfast which was included in our room price. The breakfast was lovely and even the kids found something they liked (1 fussy eater) there were also cereals on offer, fruit juices and hot drinks. The waiters were lovely and even gave the children their second badges and made them really excited for the park. We were straight out to the park after breakfast. We got in an hour early due to staying at the hotel. This was great as we were able to have a walk around to find out where everything was before it got too busy. There were a few rides open so we got to beat the queues and have the first ride. The children absolutely loved the gruffalo, the room on the broom and the vampire rides (must have gone on them all 6 times each during the first day!) We visited the safari ride on our 2nd day at the park but because of the absolute pour down of rain most of the animals had gone to hide in their homes but the children still loved being on the truck nevertheless. On the first day we visited the smokehouse bbq for lunch which was quite expensive for what you got but it was to be expected. On the second day we visited the pizza, pasta place which was much better. It was set prices for adults and children but it was all you could eat which was pretty much the same price as the day before. I would definitely recommend going to pizza pasta! When we had finished at the park we visited the hotels pool. The children absolutely LOVED it they are such water baby’s so it was a big plus. Lots to play on and the even got to go in the ‘hot tub’ We ate in the safari bar and grill on our second night it was very busy but the staff were so lovely and nothing was too much. The food was great and the kids even got gruffalo crumble for desert. In all we had such an amazing time on our short break and would recommend to everybody. We can wait to come again. It definitely softened the blow of not going abroad. Thank you to absolutely all the staff!
I thought my stay was incredible and I would totally request it for my friends! The hotel was magical, we stayed in the safari hotel and we had the gruffalo room. I have reccomended this to friends.😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
My kids love Chessington, it has a few faster rides for my thrill seeking 8 year old and the zoo, sealife and younger rides like the Gruffalo for my 4 year old. The rooms are nice and comfy, kids love a bunkbed but what they liked the most was the entertainment. Kids loved it and gave us the time to relax, sit back and watch them enjoy. Have been a few times now and this their fav UK gettaway.
Stayed at the Safari Hotel. Room was lovely and view over park was brilliant. Staff were faultless in their attempts to ensure everyone was happy and taken care of. Hotel was still very busy but all staff were happy and helpful and some staff (Emily in the Restaurant) went out of their way to ensure we were all happy.
We had a trip planned for my Son's Birthday.. originally Glamping, but that was cancelled... (separate complaint sent regarding this and it has since been resolved to our satisfaction). As a result we were moved to the hotel. Although disappointed, the staff at the hotel were fantastic and went above and beyond to make sure my Son had a nice birthday. Dan the Duty Manager was amazing. He was welcoming, and very sympathetic/understanding to our situation. Dan made sure our stay was a great one. His customer service manner was just exceptional and because of him and his team, I would highly recommend the Safari Hotel. We had breakfast in the Temple Restaurant and Christina was so lovely! She gave my Son one of her pop badges, which made his day..Also the food was fab! We had dinner in the Zufari Restaurant which was beautifully decorated and the food was so tasty! Both Emma and Amuid, our servers, were so lovely... such genuine young people who made sure we had a nice evening. I am so very grateful to all of the staff members that I mentioned for making such an effort to ensure my Son enjoyed himself. Last but not least... lovely Lindsey from the VIP experience team did our Giraffe feed session and it was simply magical.. It was a pleasure meeting her and the 5 Giraffes.
We stayed for 1 night on the 19th September 2019. We had a great first day after arriving at lunchtime. Our 3 year old toddler had plenty to do although he would have much more once he has grown a little more. He is 1 metre tall and unfortunately there are a few things he can’t go on. This isn’t a fault of the park but at 1.1/1.2 metres he would of had more to experience. We ate at the Safari Grill which was fine a little on the pricey side for what it is but it’s what I expected at a resort. The room was great with a separate little area for the boy. It was clean and nice. Would if had preferred a view of the resort as opposed to the car park but I think you pay more for that so no complaint. The trip could of turned into a nightmare as af 2am the boy decided to throw up all over the bedding carpet and bathroom. I pulled my clothes on and stumbled down to reception asking for a new duvet and some cleaning equipment so I could sort the room out. They sent me back upstairs and said someone would be along shortly. Janes turned up cleaned the whole mess up whilst humouring my 3 year old. Was friendly and helpful and even gave us a voucher to feed some birds and get a photo free of charge. Absolutely terrific customer service. What could of been a horrendous trip away was saved by James. I cannot thank him enough. Day two was another great day!!! The only negative was the splash park. We didn’t realise we had to book this and then when we tried there was only a morning slot when the splash part of the pool was closed. We didn’t bother in the end.
It’s okay for children! The only restaurant running in the hotel in the evening at the moment is awful though! Waited an hour for food, even though we booked last week. It’s very hard amusing a 2 year old in a high chair! No apology from staff no warning of a long wait and very little options for milk allergy sufferers/ vegetation/ vegan! VERY overpriced. We are booked in this evening but we are going to drive somewhere else for food instead. The hotels fine but the toilets do smell! The park itself is amazing and well worth a visit.
So I wanted to book a stay for my sons third birthday and not only was a I given false promises upon booking with “Flossie” my card was charged for a birthday package which I had not given any authority for. Nonetheless I decided to keep the package and allow the payment as no refund was mentioned for the mistake! Now prior to my arrival I had booked for 2 adults and 3 children and the room that was discussed and I also asked to see images off prior to booking clearly indicated a double bed, and a bunk bed with a pull out trundle bed. I also asked a number of time about the dinner arrangements and if any of the meat was halal I was told on numerous occasions by FLOSSIE that yes some of the meats are halal! Upon arrival, which by the way, seemed extremely rushed, your are literally given your room key and pointed towards the lifts, not as welcoming as your would expect right? However got into the lifts and found my way into my hotel room. Cobwebs on my window, wet bed sheets, a stench in the bathroom and no trundle bed? So I tried to call down to the reception whilst my toddlers are now over excited and just want to get to the pool which I had prebooked, I try to turn on the television to keep them entertained and hey guess what? A DUSTY BROKEN TV! No answer on the phone to the reception so no choice but to go down and speak to someone. I go downstairs and Lady at the reception is running around trying to deal with other customers and tells me to wait for the manager. So now manager comes out and I’ve explained that 1)the hygiene of the room in unacceptable. 2)there are no trundle beds as that’s what I booked and so my child has no where to sleep, the double bed has wet bedsheets? Etc etc I’m told this is all going to be sorted out and he then offers me a meal at dinner time. I now go to the pool to which I find “Flossie in fact didn’t book the session for the pool! So now my kids are upset! And frustrated! The Day is literally going bad to worse! We decide to go and sit down for dinner and another shock! No halal food at all. Again Flossie has clearly been Mis-informing guests! So now no meats are halal and so I opt in for Cod and chips! A few moments later I can feel my tongue feeling bubbly. And slightly sore. So I explain the situation to the waitress who then goes to check something with the chef comes back to state that the cod that I had half eaten contained aclchol! -(comforting I’m a Muslim with a head covering in Too! Great! So the meal wasn’t enjoyed at all! And I returned my meal! Yet no apology! Decide to go upstairs now to find that still no bed? Wet sheets Dampish smell in bathroom! Yet to no avail! By this time Nina Is the duty manager and says she doesn’t have a room to offer and can give a single bed but may be very different! I opted for the single bed but consequently that took another 2 hours and Nina, who by the way is extremely rude to her co-workers- James Jamel bellamy is extremely nice and customer service driven!!! He brought the single bed up which btw felt like the mattress have given way!! The bed made the room really tight and no sense of health and safety was cared for! Nina couldn’t sort the issue out and therefore I had to sleep on a single pop up bed with severe health issues No needing was bought up to change the wet sheets The bathroom wasn’t dealt with Nina wanted to brush off the complaint to a morning manager!!!! And kept complain due to her being not available!!! This whoLE birthday was WRONG!!! SOOOO MANY LEVELS!!
Stayed one night in the Safari hotel. Booked a standard family room with bunk beds for a mid week break but on arrival we were told we had been selected for an upgrade to a Gruffolo room which was very exciting! The room is visually stunning and a large size, with the bunk beds in their own little area. There is also a view out over the Safari so we could see a couple of animals out grazing in the morning. I don't think there are any extra facilities in the room i.e. upgraded refreshments, toiletries, bath etc but you get what you would expect in any decent hotel room. The added benefits to the room is a reserved parking space and a fast track ticket for some rides. The staff are polite and helpful when you ask. A special mention to the staff at breakfast who were so friendly and brilliant with the kids. My only criticism is there could be more information provided. I felt like I had to ask loads of questions: what do we do about breakfast (you book a slot on a screen by the restaurant); can we leave the car in the space while we are in the park (it can stay there until you are ready to leave); where was the entrance to the park (easy to find when pointed in the right direction). One thing we weren't told was you need a pass to get out of the car park. The first time we realised this was when we saw the notice by the exit barrier so we had to turn round and go back to ask in reception. Maybe worth being offered this when you check out? Overall fantastic value for money including our park tickets. And many thanks for the upgrade!
