Hotel Grand Chancellor Launceston

Parking provided at a good rate. Comfortable bed, good size rooms, adequate bathroom. Hotel in a good location. Very helpful staff. Quite good value compared to some places we stayed in Tasmania as we had not booked ahead not realising that Tasmania is a very popular tourist destination, and had a bit of trouble finding accommodation at times.

Our room was above a night club next door and were kept up half the night with loud music and yelling in the street. The staff we spoke to the next morning were so unhelpful and their response was that we should have told them during the night so they could go next door and ask them to be quiet.... Really. They should advise guests if they are in one of these rooms.

Having stayed at the Grand Chancellor in Hobart, I was happy to stay here. Unfortunately it was a let down. Run down and weary. I believe the rooms are being renovated, I hope this is the case as ours was disappointing. Also very noisy with late/middle of the night noises from outside.

An adequate room needing some refurbishment. Great hot water for shower, comfortable beds, could do with some new toilet seats, leaky tap, skirting boards and room edges need a good clean, great location. Parking extra $6 but plenty of on street parking available

Fabulous location walking distance to everything in town ,rooms a bit dated but has everything you need again great location ,you do have to pay extra for car parking though that wasnt mentioned not a lot but its extra

Excellent hotel with exceptionally friendly staff and amazing local food. Close to city shopping, parks and a few minutes walk to the river if you want to take a cruise. The menu is highly recommended and the food is very high quality!

Only stayed one night at the Grand Chancellor in Launceston and was more than adequate for our needs. It was clean and comfortable but it is very dated and in need of an upgrade. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The hotel was clean and presentable and in a good location. Staff were friendly and engaged. We had the good quality breakfast buffet included in our price which was enjoyed in a relaxing light filled dining room. Our stay was only for 1 night but I will definitely be returning for a longer stay next time.

Entry foyer was probably the best thing about this place. Went into our room and found it very stuffy and hot, turned on the potable aircon and it was sooooo noisey we couldn’t speak to each other, you could hear it from down the corridor. Went downstairs to let them know and the duty manager said she would look at it- not the friendliest person ! She also told us we could alway ‘turn it off to stop the noise’ SERIOUSLY! She came back and told us she had fixed it and left it on the cool the room down... so heading back upstairs and as soon as we got out of the lift we could hear the machine rattling away ! NOT HAPPY! we were given another room with an aircon that was a bit quieter ..not much but at least we could sleep. On a positive note, the girl behind the bar went out of her way for us. While waiting for our room I asked the bar tender if he made cocktails .... he gave me a quick response..... No.. I said all I wanted was a espresso martini ( I could see all the ingredients) he said NOPE But then the other bartender started chatting to us, I mentioned I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t do cocktails.. her answer was YES WE DO...let me make you one! She deserves a promotion! Keeping the customer happy .Very helpful with letting us know good places to visit in Launceston ...

Stayed for 3 nights due to attending two events in Launceston. Room was comfortable - lovely hot shower - very comfy bed. Room service was very good. Staff in general were of high standards. Our room was on the 6th Floor and very quiet even with our room right next door to the elevator. Only downer was parking. $6 per night is cheap if you can get an allocated parking spot. The first night we had to park on the street. The disable parking spot is not in a good location as the passenger side is not practical due to if the passenger is disabled that side is blocked by a railed wall which is a ramp making it near impossible for the passenger to be able to exit accordingly.
