Wow!....a great place to visit. Beautiful location.... serenity at its best Icing on the cake would have been better hospitality and a quick checkin process. Food was good but more options in Indian food would have been appreciated especially for the senior citizens. Also an extra care in terms of special occasions like birthday and anniversary would have been appreciated... which we were looking forward to being the special place chosen for our family celebration but was totally missing. People were definitely friendly but special attention would have made our trip amongst the top rated ones.
Stunning hotel. Great food, helpful staff. Would highly recommend, worth spending a bit more to stay here. Location ok, restaurants a short walk away. Local food by the port, street food price but the best food we had in Malaysia. Bowling alley also a short walk, worth a visit.
We stayed at the Westin Langkawi for 5 nights in mid May 2018. We had a great stay there. The resort was beautiful and the staff were friendly and accommadating. Yvonne checked us in. She was warm and friendly, made us felt welcomed. Beatrice, the Experience Manager, also was wonderful, she surprised us with a piece of birthday cake for my belated birthday :) The Westin is located near Kuah townsite. We walked to the Eagle Square and Parade Mall, but there is also a free shuttle that takes you to the Parade Mall twice daily. Grab car sharing is so quick and cheap, the remote location of the Westin is not an issue at all. The hotel has its own private beach, but it is not the best beach in Langkawi. However, the beach does feel secluded. A great place for some R&R! Overall, we had a relaxing holiday at the Westin Langkawi and we would not hesitate to stay there again.
Location wise it is good, as it is very near to the Jetty Point and Eagle Square, but many other factors are terrible, which you'd not expect from a 5 star hotel. I visited to celebrate my birthday with my family and I requested a cake for the same twice - once by email and once while checking in. Still, the hotel staff did not deliver a cake. If they were not able to do so, then they could have informed me, so that I could have bought it form somewhere else. Moreover, my grandparents are vegetarians, so I ordered an Indian vegetarian dish from the room service menu. They brought the separate food from the breakfast buffet and mixed it, to make Khichdi, which tasted terrible. Think again before booking.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. All the staff (from the reception and concierge to the waiters and waitresses) were very (and genuinely) friendly and helpful, one of the best hospitalities we've had so far in any hotels or resorts we've stayed. This alone gives it a well-earned 5-star rating. I would recommend booking or upgrading to a room with a balcony view towards the sea as the views are absolutely stunning. Design of the room could be improved on (for e.g. lightings and bathroom layout), but everything else works well. It was nice to be able to watch YouTube on TV too! The buffet breakfast at the Seasonal Taste Restaurant had a very good spread of Western and local cuisines, though the taste of the local dishes could be improved on. Nonetheless, the quality and quantity is good enough to satisfy any cravings and taste buds. Location is very strategic. Although it is a 30-40 min drive from the airport, the resort is just 10 mins drive from the town of Kuah where you can get all the things you might need (a shopping mall, eateries, self-service laundrettes etc.). The iconic Dataran Lang is just a few mins drive away from the resort. Parking is also plentiful. I can't say much about the other facilities in the resort like the swimming pools and spa as we didn't have time to try these out, but the resort is a nice place to have a pleasant stroll as there is a private beach where you can walk all the way to the nearby St Regis resort. Bicycles are also available if you're staying in one of their chalets. Overall, I would highly recommend a stay here. We'll definitely be back again in our next visit to Langkawi!
One of the most amazing resort to have a great destination wedding.. had an awesome time considering the vast property and the great service..the fact that it's a complete family resort with something for everyone to do.. I would rate it as my favorite.
The Westin in Langkawi is a beautiful resort property on the south side of Langkawi island, beside the Andaman Sea. It has everything a resort has to offer - lovely private beach, four swimming pools including an infinity pool & a rock-pool, water sports, a Spa with a wide variety of treatments, a well-equipped fitness centre, facilities for tennis, four restaurants and international standard banquet & conference facilities. It is also close to the Kuah jetty, with its shops & restaurants & the large eagle monument. We were there recently to attend a destination wedding, and stayed on for a few more days to enjoy the facilities in private. The entire Hotel had been booked for the wedding, so it must have realy strained the amenities & service offering of the Hotel. We were really impressed by the high standards of cuisine and the friendly & courteous service from all the staff right through. One example - the golf cart service provided to the guests to move around the extensive property was constantly in use, summoned from the Concierge's Desk over the phone - we never had to wait more than a couple of minutes at any time during our entire stay ! We enjoyed the swimming pools & the great view of the small island-hills in the sea opposite, especially as the weather was hot & humid. The 'Heavenly Spa' gave us massages to remember, and the private pool in our Villa was real luxury ! The villa & room designs & amenities were up to the usual very high standards of Westin, and we enjoyed our stay in both types of accommodation. The breakfast buffet was very extensive, with a variety of cuisines including South Indian, Western, Japanese & Malaysian. There was even sparkling wine to make yours a champagne breakfast ! There is a travel deskin the Lobby to help plan & book local sightseeing, and two shops selling local souvenirs & swimwear, batik outfits etc. Highly recommended - why bother with crowded Phuket (just 150 miles north-east of here) when you can relax in this lovely 5* resort ?
A perfect holiday paradise where you can relax and rejuvenate yourself. It is situated in the beach and is spread over quite a big area where you can do cycling, running, play tennis and just about everything. They can also help you plan city adventures and tours. All in all a very beautiful experience.
Beautiful location, lot of facilities and dining/bar options, cozy rooms but something missing. We reached around 2.30 pm & the check-in took more than one hour. It was embarrasing after 12 hours of travel. The room service is pathetic. In buffet breakfast, they serve frozen indian food and tasteless. The staff is not hospitable at all. We were there to celebrate our sons 15th birthday and Dads 75th birthday, we informed them prior by mail and and at the time of chk in but they did not care to send cake to our room. 'Do not Care' attitude for their guests. When we wanted to have a chat with resort manager Mr. Kapoor, the staff was making excuse that he is too busy. They have a long private beach but it is not sandy. Lot of corels and stones on it. Worst part is that resort is under maintenance and few blocks are closed which is too inconvenient as we had to walk long to reach dining and reception. There are lots of other options and good options to stay in Langkawi at this price. Won’t recommend
My wife and I stayed here over the weekend for a quick getaway. Now since The Westin is a 5 star establishment, there is a certain level of expectation when staying at a resort like this. Check-in was smooth and having the gong to greet us was a very nice touch. Being an SPG member, I was pleased when the staff upgraded us into an ocean view room. The room was very clean and spacious and full of amenities. Of course, the best feature would definitely be the bed - simply luxurious to sleep in. However, our room had a problem with the closet. The closet light can only be switched off when both closet doors are closed, and it was difficult to do this because the magnet/door mechanics was a bit faulty. I had to really push multiple times to get this sorted out. We dined at the 'The Tide' restaurant which was a pleasant experience. A minor complaint about the food was the steak - my wife ordered 'medium' but it was slightly on the well-done side of normal. Additionally, the service could have been better if the waiters knew who ordered what (the waiters brought the correct orders but did not know who ordered them so kept having to check during each serving). As it was the fasting month, we ordered room service throughout our stay for early breakfast and gave a specific timing for the food to be sent to our room. On one occasion, the food came around 8 minutes late. On two occasions, the bottles of water we requested did not come. Lastly, I had ordered tagliatelle bolognaise in one of the orders but was served spaghetti instead. This was annoying because the person who took my order repeated my order three times just to confirm. How could it go wrong? Overall, our stay was excellent and I will most likely return again to the resort. I do hope that the resort sorts out these service shortcomings. Again, it may seem minor but it is these things that truly separate a good resort from a great one.
