We stayed here for my son's wedding, which was also at the resort. The staff members are so friendly. Every single one of the staff would say hello with a beautiful smile. The resort is lovely. The rooms are light and airy with great views. There are various pools to swim in. The restaurant is fantastic with a lot of variety of foods and also theme nights. Would def stay here again
Wonderful Island stay. Family Friendly with beautiful views. Staff are courteous and try their best which is really rare during peak season with such busy hotels. Although breakfast huge and beautiful settings, flavor a little grey. However there is a large selection and the fresh juice bar also something niche. Transport easy to get and taxis don’t overcharge because of location, I mostly used grab/Uber which is much cheaper. My stay was too short so kids didn’t get a chance to enjoy kids club. There are few other kids activities and the pools are awesome. Especially pool bar. When booking try and get a room near to reception cause walk to room can get tiring like in my case. Even though there are negatives,Overall I rate the hotel a PLUS for its value for money and staff service.
Two things made our stay unpleasant – an urgent maintenance request that was neglected, and some emotional behaviour from a frustrated manager. The maintenance problem was a broken doorknob in the bathroom, so that anybody who closes the door will be trapped inside. I told the front desk clerk this is urgent and I watched her write down the problem and the room number correctly in legible English. I restated the urgency, and from her attitude, I assumed they’d send a handyman within an hour. Nobody came for the next 2 days. My teenager spent some unhappy time calling for somebody to let her out, but that’s her mistake. The Westin’s mistake was not responding to a clearly-written and urgent request for maintenance. Another unpleasant experience was at Tide restaurant (6 Jan 2018) when a young manager created needless confrontation by escalating a minor problem. We did not want a confrontation. We asked a waiter to check on our main course, and we said it was taking a long time. (It was more than 60 minutes since ordering). We asked quietly, but the waiter must have told the manager. The manager approached us and immediately launched into a strident defense, saying the main course was served only 15 minutes after the appetizer was cleared. That may be true, but the manager wasn’t aware that our appetizer dish had been sitting empty for a really long time before it was cleared. Also, our table had only one person with an appetizer while everybody else waited, and our request for more bread had been forgotten, and our empty wine/cocktails were cleared without offering more. A manager can’t know everything, but when he does step in, his job should be to make the situation less confrontational, not to escalate. This guy was venting his frustrations on us. We stayed in room 4320 for 3 nights in Jan 2018.
Thought we would give Malaysia a try following consecutive holidays to Thailand. We booked the Westin for 2 weeks over the Christmas and New Year period. We were greeted at reception by friendly attentive staff. In fact we were given the option to upgrade to a pool villa, after a little negotiation we agreed a good price and wow it was surely worth it. The villa was fabulous 2 bathrooms, large bedroom, lounge, kitchen, patio area with table and chairs, 4 poster bed, sun loungers and private pool.... just perfect. We were sent complementary fruit baskets, bottles of wine, ice bucket of beer and pastry selection. The villa management were keen to make sure we were happy. Their Moto was - if you are happy, we are happy. The first morning we ventured down to breakfast, I must say I was a little disgruntled by the hustle and bustle, too chaotic for my liking, they also had Christmas tunes playing quite loudly, not very relaxing! The breakfast restaurant was also indoors and a slightly oppressive. We explained breakfast wasn't an experience we enjoyed and the management promptly suggested the alternative of complimentary room service and explained it was exceptionally busy due to Malaysian holidays.... (take this into account if you are booking during December) We took the breakfast room service which we thoroughly enjoyed for the rest of our stay. There were various pools to enjoy around the hotel which were beautiful with the most amazing views, we mostly opted for the adult pool located by the spar, once again the staff were just brilliant especially Kelly (Spar Manager) who took the time to introduce herself and share here knowledge of the local area with best hot spots etc. We had bar food in the Breeze lounge which was great and a meal in the Tide restaurant and also had snacks at the pool bar which was equally great, all have the most spectacular ocean views. If you like wild life you won't be disappointed, we were lucky enough to have eagles flying above us whilst sunbathing and dusky leaf Monkeys are a very familiar sight (they are very timid so don't bother you) on the other hand there are a few macaques monkeys who can be cheeky with tourists. At dusk we were thrilled to see the flying lemur, we haven't seen these before they were fabulous. The Westin is located a few minutes away from the ferry port by cab and the nearest town is kuah ( not much to see or do in Kuah, we had to search for somewhere to eat if you are picky don't bother there are much better areas to visit with good bars and food such as canang beach, it's about 25 mins in a cab, don't be phased the cabs fares are cheap cheap!! We took the trip most evenings it was well worth it. I can recommend the jet ski tours where you can go through the mangroves and visit numerous islands, this was one of our best days..... loved it. All in all we had an amazing holiday the Westin was beautiful with everything you could wish for, great restaurants, fabulous views, facilities in an abundance and the staff couldn't have been any more attentive. I would definitely recommend a visit.
We spent new year at the resort. I wasn't sure what to expect but booked online. Langkawi is a lovely island with an incredible beach. If you book at the resort, everything you need is there. The first thing that greets you is always on, easy to connect to internet. The rooms are lovely and large and overlook the pool and the ocean. There are a number of restaurants on the property that cater for all needs and this was the first place where I could have a decent breakfast. I was a bit concerned that the hotel is too far away from the skybridge, however even this trip isn't that far and its well worth staying at this resort. Overall, if you just looking for somewhere to relax and forget about your worries, eat, drink and enjoy the pool and beach, then this is an ideal destination.
Really good resort, service was amazing, staff very engaged and genuinely friendly and driven to create. A great experience for guests. New Years party was really well done! Breakfast is very good. Great selection of freshly squeezed juices. Beach is large and usually not many guests use it. Watersports activities are plenty and service very good. Beach dinner is nice. Prices for drinks surprisingly low for a resort (probably thanks to Langkawi's duty free status). Restaurants serve rather boring international fare. I would recommend to lunch and dine out in Kuah (plenty of great dining options just a short Uber ride away). Spa is very nice but typically for a resort in these countries 300% above street price. Rooms have been recently remade and are very nice. Two bedroom suites are gorgeous with amazing patio overlooking sea. If you consider the St Regis i would recommend Westin: same beach, much more reasonably priced, and one would not want to stay at either all day. I recommend to Kayak to the nearby shipwreck , take a private longboat for a snorkeling tour, climb up the tallest mountain (4k stairs)...
We spent 9 nights here in November and unfortunately the time we were there the weather wasn’t great however the hotel was lovely! The bed was heavenly I don’t think I have ever slept so well away from home. The breakfast was excellent with a huge amount of choices. The food options are good although possibly not executed perfectly in all cases! The down side was the service in the Breeze Bar/lounge - it was truly dreadful! Staff getting orders wrong, not getting drinks for ages and even then being on their phones instead of helping people. Having said this when we checked out and mentioned the lack of service it was addressed and taken very seriously by the managers. I would still stay here again despite the service in the bar
We (family of 6) visited the Westin in December and stayed in a great villa with beach view and private pool. Staff was amazing and made us feel very welcome. Great eye for detail. Everything from arrival to departure was excellent. Bottle of wine on arrival, next day tray with snacks and on departure we received a voucher for Westin lounge at airport, which was great because Langkawi airport can be / is a crowded place.
The Westin is everything an island holiday resort should be. The staff and their service is exceptional. The hotel is well maintained and clean. The food is delicious and the view is just magnificent. If you are thinking about a visit to Langkawi you must absolutely stay at this resort. It is just wonderful. The staff make this resort a 5 star experience.
We stayed at the Westin in Langkawi for 5 nights over the New Year weekend and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the hotel. We especially liked the buffet breakfasts (apart from the endless noise from screaming children!) but the dinners we had in the Seasonal Tastes restaurant were also very good - although we felt that the atmosphere could have been improved significantly by dimming the lighting. The manager of the Seasonal Tastes works extremely hard, always watching out for clients and ensuring that his staff are on the ball at all times. Co-incidentally I found on arrival that it was the same hotel I had stayed in 41 years ago(!) but the name has changed several times in the interim and the whole place has obviously been extended and refurbished many times over. Indeed, our room, which we liked very much, still smelled of fresh paint when we arrived! The grounds are massive and beautifully laid out with 3 different pools attractively blending in to the landscape. All the staff are extremely polite and helpful and went out of their way to assist us with any questions etc. The only thing that was disappointing was that on New Years Eve, when we were obliged to pay about £100pp for a huge poolside party with music, dancing and a brilliant firework display, the food, which should have been hot, was sadly all cold and pretty miserable! However this was more than made up for by the celebratory atmosphere and we were amazed that, when we awoke in the morning, there wasn’t a trace left of any post-party chaos. The staff had obviously worked magnificently throughout the night to restore everything to normal. Overall therefore, we loved it and I would definitely go back again. Congratulations Westin Langkawi!
