I have been visiting The Red Caboose Motel several times per year ever since the current owners purchased the property in 2016. I am a railfan that enjoys train related things including sleeping in a caboose at The Red Caboose Motel. Rooms are comfortable, dining at the onsite Casey Jones Restaurant has always been a pleasant experience for me and the Pennsylvania Dutch atmosphere of the surrounding area along with the close proximity to The Strasburg Railroad and The Railroad Museum of PA. To sum up, an enjoyable stay as usual and I will return soon.

The check in and staff is wonderful, the convenience of having so much to do around like the horse carriage on site makes the experience different. The only thing, is during winter they should winterized the caboons better, and deep clean the carpets. They do give you a room warmer, and you can control the thermostat. Most is just covering holes where the cold air comes in. Like air-conditioning.

This is a unique place, lodging is in 43 re-claimed rail cars, mainly cabooses. As such, it is very well maintained and designed to capture the atmosphere of a bygone era that many people might have thought of only in their fantasies. It's designed for families with young kids to capture elements that they will make memories from, it's not a luxury resort for adults, so don't expect that. They work hard to make a nice place and allow kids,and parents to see and experience things they would never otherwise have an opportunity to know.

Biggest issue was that the bathroom baseboard heater didn’t work, so the floors were frozen cold. The bathroom drain had a bunch of caulk around it you could tell the bathroom was older and heavily used. Lots of rust and the whole caboose was leaning to the left so you felt weird when walking in it and felt like you were going to fall out of bed. The Amish horses were clip clopping early in the morning and late at night and the train blows its horn and comes through right near there around 7am, those seem to wake you up early. They need to be remodeled, the quality of materials in them are equivalent to a 1980s trailer. Only 2 towels and washcloths for a family of 5, just doesn’t cut it. Also it has a tiny little hot water heater that so only one person gets a warm shower then you have to wait 2 hours for it to heat back up. The queen bed slept fine like a heavily used standard firm bed.

We enjoyed our stay at The Red Caboose Motel! We loved how unique each room is a train car and the restaurant is in a train car too! The staff were very friendly and pleasant! The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We ate breakfast at the restaurant and it was delicious!!

The place was very adorable but rooms were very dated & worn. The door seal was completely gone put a towel down to try to stop the draft. Everyone was very friendly & helpful. Location was the best the train ran right in front of the motel. There is a museum right behind you can just walk to.

What a fun experience! We took our grandchildren and they loved it! The staff was in train attire, and very willing to answer questions and provide information. The restaurant served large portions, The gift shop was well stocked with something for everybody. The animals at the petting zoo were friendly and very willing to eat, so bring quarters. We will definitely come back the next time we are in Lancaster County.
