Caboose experience is really unique and definitely a must do in area for a family, groups or couple.

We stayed in the honeymoon caboose and had a fabulous time. The staff is friendly and helpful and the restaurant is excellent.
Truly a different lodging experience; a authentic train caboose which had been in service, converted to a motel room. Admittedly not a lot of room to move around but with two flat screen TVs, bathroom with shower, queen size bed, frig, microwave, table & chairs and a bunk bed...it would be expected. The Red Caboose Motel began operations in 1970 and some updating should be considered.
Petting zoo was adorable!! Very friendly staff. Great location. Will stay here again.

Great for train fans. Super close to the Strasburg Railroad and Amish country. Real steam trains and horse and buggy rides. Great for watching too.
There was friendly service and very beautiful and unique!
The Cabooses added to the character of the property of course. Would be fun for children especially.
Property and train cars have changed very little since our last stay with our son in the 90's. It was nice to be able to to bring our grandchildren and duplicate that trip from long ago.
Liked there were so many play options for kids and close to everything. Didn't like that the caboose smelled like mold and the bathroom did have mold in it. The bedding was not comfortable either.
Red Caboose is a very unique place to stay and the staff were friendly and helpful. I feel the cars could be updated as the one we were in was showing it's age... but maybe that's part of the charm.

My wife agreed to a train vacation - she called it a "traincation" - sleeping in the caboose was really nice. Eating in the Casey Jones dining car was an added bonus - very nice and the food and service was excellent. We saw lots of young families and the children seemed to enjoy the experience - including the free petting zoo and Amish buggy rides. The staff was super friendly and helpful - even called to make sure we got into our caboose and everything was going good. This is a property with 38 cabooses and two larger cars. But everything was clean and well stocked. It's safe. You park right in front of your caboose. A/C and lights all worked as they should. I highly recommend the Red Caboose Hotel - it's a fun place and there are LOTS of things to do close by. If you go - take a train ride on the nearby steam loco powered Strasburg Railroad train! A BIG GOOD TIME! I
If you love trains this is the place to stay! Friendly and helpful staff, excellent restaurant, cozy rooms in a caboose! Beautiful scenery, can’t wait to stay again!
