Hotel was booked out when we arrived, but the room with Twin Queen Beds was fine. One bed was a little softer than the other, but both were comfortable. Fairly standard layout used by most of the remodeled Fairfields', bathroom was clean and room was reasonable size. Internet was fast and free...front desk was quick and efficient....breakfast was buffet style and OK for the price. No complaints about Hotel and would stay again if in the area.
The beauty of Marriott Rewards is that they claim to be "valid anytime". Well, that is not the case. After spending over AN HOUR trying to boom a room for 1 night at the Fairfield in Lake City, the Marriott website kept kicking me to a hotel in Jacksonville, not close to Lake City. So I called the hotel directly and the front desk was very accommodating, and verified in fact there were 16 queen rooms available for the date I was requesting. So she started making our reservation, but couldn't use our Marriott Rewards, so transferred us to the Marriott Reservation line. Once transfered the Marriott Reservation line claimed their were NO rooms available. So I got the front desk back on the phone on another line, again confirming in fact, yes they had 16 rooms available. It was sooooo frustrating. Neither could explain the disconnect, so I had to pay for the verses using my Marriott points, and wasted a lot of time for something that could have been so simple. My poor rating is about Marriott and not the condition or service from this location.
I travel for work so I spend more nights in hotels than home, therefore I might be more critical than the average traveler. The reception and check-in at this hotel was excellent. The front desk staff was friendly and welcoming. The hotel is pretty quiet as it sits away from the highway. The bed had an assortment of pillows which I really appreciate. The breakfast was average. The room was dated, missing the conveniences of newer hotels (like extra outlets). The bathroom was not clean. The tile grout was stained from age but there was also hair on the floor and dirty shoe prints on the tile floor.
We booked this location on a recent stop over with Disney world as the final destination. Rooms were clean and comfortable and staff was very nice. Breakfast was very good. It set the tone for a very enjoyable week in Florida.
Great place! Clean rooms. Bathroom was a bit dated but clean. Nice offering of breakfast food that was free when you stay. Beds were very comfortable. In a nice location that was close to a great selection of restaurants.
We called ahead because, even with all the hotels in the area, this one is always booked. Hard to find because it is on a side street by Camper World and there is not a sign by highway 90. It is tucked back and very quiet. Friendly staff and beautifully remodeled facility.
Easy check-in with friendly Sabrina - she laughed at my jokes, so I had to mention her. Suitable gym, but no bicycle. Awesome looking indoor pool, but didn't have a chance to use it. Comfortable bed. Better than average breakfast for a 3-star. Fruity water and cookies in the lobby. Tip for staff: use hand towels in the fitness center instead of full-sized bath towels. Overall enjoyable stay.
As a TripAdvisor contributor, I had read a few negative reviews of this hotel, but as a Marriott Gold member, I decided to stay here anyway. And I'm glad we did. There are some wonderful people who work here. We arrived in the early evening along with lots of other travelers. The lobby was filled with people, but Bridgette and Alysia at the front desk did a great job of making sure all of us were checked in ASAP. They exhibited tremendous "grace under fire", as far as I'm concerned. Our room was exactly what we reserved and expected: clean, comfortable & quiet. Everything worked! The breakfast the next morning had lots of tasty choices. This will likely become a regular stopping places.
This location has all kinds of restaurant choices - both fast food and casual dining. We chose Cracker Barrel this time for dinner as wanted meat and potatoes. This location had heated pool and spa - wish we had taken our suits! It looked clean and wonderful. We had great tv reception to watch the championship football game in our room and were very comfortable with seating. The bed is a wonderful soft top but firm underneath - not too hard and not too soft. I love Marriott beds! Room was very clean and a/c-heat was made comfortable. The breakfast had a lot of variety and was all very fresh - even the melon! We will stay here again. Also across the street from Camping World which would be fun to explore with more time.
I really wish I had stayed at the wonderful Country Inn around the corner. The extra $7 per night would have been well worth it. This Fairfield Inn looks good in the lobby, and the rooms are not bad (small and relatively clean), but I stayed here for three days and saw someone at the reception desk only twice. When I checked in, several people were standing around waiting to do the same. It was at least fifteen minutes before a desk clerk appeared to check us all in. The front desk was almost always unattended throughout my three-day stay. Although the lobby is well appointed and fresh, the floors where the rooms are smell musty even though the odor is overlaid with an antiseptic smell. It's like someone with bad body odor who puts a lot of cologne on to try to cover the stench. Also, the sheets on the bed are scratchy (not soft). One day I left the hotel at 1 P.M. and didn't return until 11 P.M. My room had not been cleaned in any way (trash not emptied, bed not made, towels not replaced, etc.). I did NOT leave the "do not disturb" sign out, so my room should have been cleaned. I called the front desk to check on the procedure for signaling the need for a cleaning, and I had done the right thing, but housekeeping, nevertheless, overlooked my room. The receptionist was very nice about the issue and apologized profusely. Upon checking out, I went down to my car with the first load at 11:30 A.M. When I went back up to my room five minutes later to get the last load, my room key didn't work. The morning receptionist had shut down my keys even though checkout time is not until 12 noon. This checkout time is stated in big, bold letters on the plaque affixed to the back of the door in each room. I had to have my keys reactivated so I could retrieve my belongings. These little annoying, inconvenient things add up to make for an unpleasant stay. For a great, spacious, clean hotel with efficient service, stay at the Country Inn in Lake City. I was there earlier this year and loved it.
