We love this "old style" hotel with great access to the beach.. There are great spots all around to eat.. My favorite is the little Ramen joint just up the hill, but the tacos across the street aren't bad either . This is a favorite spot for our family for several years and a couple name changes of the property Ultimately great vibes, Steller location, clean little rooms that take you back a bit in time but in a great way. All rooms surround welcoming pool even after a day in the ocean.
The location was great! The room was clean, comfortable, quiet at night, an easy walk to the beach. Highly recommend!
We had a very nice stay. Staff did us an extra courtesy to get the grill up and running so we could grill a few foods we'd brought. Pool with saltwater was especially nice.

Check in process was a breeze. The front desk clerk was very friendly and accommodating. Would stay here again
We stayed at the South building, former holiday Inn. The look and feel of the property have greatly improvedunder the new 14 West management. The service is outstanding - special thanks to Nasri who contributed to have a comfortable trip. Location is perfect, quick walk to downtown and some of the best restaurants, parking, trolley stop. Will stay there again.
Very nice room and very friendly staff
The new management was pretty pushy and rude. We had a great experience checking in and then the cleaners and staff kept looking for problems. We smoked on our porch the first day not realizing it wasn’t allowed on the property and quickly apologized letting them know it wouldn’t happen again. We never smoked on property or in the room a single time after that. We always try to be respectful. Later they kept bugging us and accusing us of smoking in the hotel. They charged us a $300 smoking fee without saying anything to us, no reason, and when we called they said one of their staff members saw us smoking. Not possible. They also kept charging us for stuff randomly without communication or consent. Charged 2 extra parking days for no reason other than they “thought” we were staying longer when the check out date is clearly in their system. It almost felt as if we were being picked at. I have never felt like that with a hotel. It is a small place with only about 20-15 rooms and small staff so they were a little too in our faces about everything. Overall it was a great location, affordable, and so much stuff to do within walking distance. You can tell the place is older. The pictures make it look luxurious but in person it isn’t as great. Renovations are cheaply done and not everything works.

If you are more than 2 people, this space may feel tight. The bed is in the middle of the room in between the small kitchenette and living room area. The living room area is split with a couch against the wall that is disconnected from the chairs and small table and the couch doesn't face the TV. We had hoped to make meals in the room since we had a stovetop, but the space wasn't comfortable to do so. The small patio was nice to sit out on. The hotel is off a very busy, highly trafficked street. Located one block from the Ralph's which was convenient. Short walk to the downtown area.
Such a unique property for a private getaway. I love the architecture of the rooms. Having a kitchen and BBQ outside is amazing. Very private. The property in itself is under disrepair. Many broken, scratched, neglected aspects of the property. The older woman at the desk is incredibly rude but the younger employees are fine. I do believe the property is needing to be sold due to a loan default so I can only hope the new owners keep the property as a boutique hotel and bring it back up to standard. I've been here many times and the disrepair continues to get worse...but I have hope there will be proper hospitality management soon with a sale.
Arriving late at night, it was rather confusing that we needed to go down the street to get the key from a hotel (possible I missed that in instructions while booking). Everything was great, except for a very glaring issue-the sheets were possibly the worst I have ever encountered at a hotel. I have stayed at motels with better sheets. Staying at a hotel, there is an expectation of nice sheets and bedding (arguably most important part of a hotel stay). The bottom sheet was incredibly scratchy (damage from a washer or just incredibly old), but the cost of the stay and quality of everything else made the horrible quality of the sheets stand out.
I like that it is a very short distance to the beach. Also it is close to stores. A small concern i had though is the parking gate is always open, so not much security, but the area is safe.
This place is really great! We loved it! The location is ideal. The air conditioner is quite loud though. Everything else is lovely
