Almudena was a very nice hotel for La Paz, and we stayed on the 4th floor which had amazing views over the city. Apartment was very spacious, and by and large the staff was helpful (especially the night shift guy - who was lovely). Breakfast on the first day included scrambled eggs, which was nice, but then for the rest of the stay it was not offered. Breakfast included yoghurt, breads, muesli/cereal, fresh juices and coffee. The hotel was walking distance to the Yellow Teleferico line, which was pretty convenient as we would walk down to the Teleferico and then get a taxi back up hill. The beds were not comfortable, and the hot water for the shower was limited. We ended up putting the duvet down and then the sheet on top, which made it slightly better. The hotel was very helpful when our friend fell ill, and had to stay an extra couple of days - and they charged her less for the same room. The hotel was also helpful in getting taxis organised for us. Overall it was a good stay, in what appeared to be a safe neighbourhood.
Apartment for 2 pers june 2018 price 76 USD breakfast included Positive point of view: apartments 301 401 501 and 601 are VERY COMFORTABLE with good beds, MUCH SPACE and a really FANTASTIC VIEW on La Paz and the Cordillera Real. The other apartments are either smaller or without the nice view, this difference is really important. Staff is very friendly and willing to help. Nice breakfast with fresh fruits. Negative point of view: hot water is provided by individual gas warmer not powerful enough. So the shower is not hot; you have to lower the water flow to get hot water but if you lower too much it would stop heating... We tried two apartments (601 and 301). Soundproofing is average. I stayed some days more. It was possible as the hotel was not fully booked. I did not ask for the price (I should have) and they charged me more than if I had added these days with booking.com; not nice. Finally I would say this hotel is a good choice if you can get one of the best rooms
The flat had a great view of La Paz. The people of the hotel are very kind and willing to help. The location of the place is in quiet place, far from the noisy streets of the city center. Breakfast is included!
I stayed here because of the good reviews on Trip Advisor. However, I did not experience anything exceptional in this hotel. This hotel is overpriced in my opinion, especially if you book for 1 guest. They advertise various promotions for guests, but try as much as possible to deny providing the same. Very disappointing. I booked in a hurry, but realised later there are many other hotels that provide better value for money. Hotel is located in .Sopocachi. The taxi drivers find it very hard to locate. Almost every time I returned to the hotel, I had to needlessly waste my time and money sitting inside, whilst the taxi drivers looked for the hotel. Except for one lady, the staff at the reception seem to be immature, and have a very poor knowledge of English. One feels that they are trying to be helpful, but lack the professionalism and the communication skills. I was exhausted trying to obtain information from these amateurs, and simply gave up. There was no hot water in the wash basin and bathtub in the toilet, which was a real problem since the water was very cold. The cutlery and crockery in the pantry were not properly washed. The WIFI speed was o.k in the living room, but not satisfactory inside the bed room. For me, the décor in the room looks gaudy. It seems so out of place. I had to remind myself that I was in South America and not in the Middle East. The hotel is far from charming, at least in my view. Another irritating thing I experienced was that the cleaning staff had removed my partially used drink bottles. Another sign of untrained people at work.
My husband and I spent 3 nights total at this hotel. The first time we arrived at 2am and left at 10am so it was a blur. Our second stay was 2 full nights. Things we liked: friendly staff, spacious apartment, THE VIEW from our top floor room, free breakfast, and it was clean. Things that weren't our favorite: - Our room was really chilly at night and we could not get our radiator any hotter - The man in the apartment below ours shouted on the phone from late morning until mid-evening. If I spoke better Spanish I could have easily understood EVERY word. This is not a reflection of typical hotel guests but it made our stay less peaceful. We will stay here again!
I have stayed for nearly two months and I have enjoyed my stay over there. Pros: * Very friendly staff and prompt room service, good breakfast, clean rooms. * Sopocachi teleferico station is near by. * Well equipped to cook. Cons: * We don't have any super market near by.
We stayed here for a week and originally had booked 2 of the 'apartments', but upon arrival found that 1 apartment was more then sufficient for our family and our friends, so we requested that they be able to join us and the management accommodated us. That was the beginning of our good experience at Almudena. The breakfasts provided plenty of fresh fruits, breads, yogurt, and eggs upon request. The rooms were spacious and clean. We did a 2 day tour and the hotel provided a locked storage room for our luggage that was free of charge. We greatly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to book with Almudena for any future stay in La Paz.
The place offers a nice and super big apartment. Is well equipped even if you want to cook. Nice view if you are in the higher floors. Breakfast is great. I stayed twice as I really liked it. Staff is nice. Great facilities. Great internet. Better than any hotel. Anytime again if back in La Paz. Only downside: is a bit away from downtown but on the other hand very quiet.
We stayed here over Christmas for nearly 2 weeks and despite a few draw backs, I'd come back. First of all the location... The hotel is situated up a very very steep hill. Getting down to the hustle and bustle is a beautiful, fun and safe walk. I looked forward to the walk every single day! Due to the altitude, walking up hill was NOT an option, so every day we had to take a quick little taxi back up to the hotel. Taxi's are cheap and plentiful in Bolivia, so it was not an inconvenience at all! In fact, it felt luxurious... Bolivia is a country in development, so the roads and sidewalks are a bit unpredictable- Sidewalks abruptly turn into stairs, which then turn into to cobble stone roads... I ended up breaking my ankle on Christmas day while walking down from the hotel towards the business district. If you are traveling with someone with disabilities, this hotel isn't great for that kind of thing. With that said, the staff here super accommodating and helpful after I got injured. Our suite was lovely. We stayed in that big room shown on the top floor that is shown in the professional photos. The view in there is AMAZING. Floor to ceiling windows, knotted pine furniture and beautifully decorated to boot! The beds are comfy, but the pillows are a bit too hard for my taste. Lastly, i'd like to review the staff. Thank you so much, especially the guy at the front desk who's name I forgot! The staff here is so helpful. No bad attitudes here!! They really did go above and beyond. When I broke my ankle (I didn't know I broke it until I got back to the US) they helped us find a place where we could rent crutches on Christmas Day, they even offered to get me a doctor, but i opted to wait until I got back to Los Angeles. They helped us order take out, find taxi's, recommended a district to get custom clothes made.... everything! I love visiting Bolivia and I plan on coming back. Next time I do, I'll be staying here at the Almudena Hotel.
We have now stayed two different times at the Almudena and have loved the experience both times. We had a suite on 6th floor with incredible views of the city and teleferico. The rooms and bathroom were clean with good hot water. The kitchen is a bonus as it allows you to make your own food or just bring in take out. The staff is very helpful and even arranged pickups and drop offs at El Alto airport. The breakfast that is included is simple but adequate. Would highly recommend this place for all travelers and especially those with families.
