I recently stayed at the Camino Real Suites for business and found the staff extremely professional. The hotel has all the amenities you would expect of a 5 star property. I would especially like to commend the driver that was used throughout my stay - Ernesto. He served myself and my colleagues multiple times throughout our visit and he was extremely professional and friendly. However, most importantly, he was a lifesaver for me. I left my cell phone in his car when he dropped me off at the airport and once he discovered it, he came back to the airport and found me in line to check my luggage and returned it to me. I would have had an extremely difficult time with the remainder of my trip without my cell phone. I greatly appreciate the extra effort that he went to in order to get it to me. Ernesto is a true professional and a wonderful representative for your hotel and the country.
Good hotel with nice view. I enjoyed my stay the rooms are pretty big just its a bit cold and when you use the aircon to heat it gets pretty dry. Also has a pool which however is rather small. In case you want to use the sauna tell the reception in advanced
I am not a professional reviewer, and this is just my opinion. My wife and I have spent three nights in this hotel, and we have been very impressed. Before even entering the door, someone will be there to help with luggage, The ladies at the reception desk could not be more charming and accommodating. For weary travelers there are cookies and tea (including the comforting "mate de coca" for those suffering from the effects of altitude). Check-in is quick. Rooms are spacious, and feature beautiful wood cabinetry. The bathrooms are clean and efficient - but there could be another hook on the back of the door to hang clothes or such stuff. There is an easy-to-operate safe, the TV offers a large selection of channels, and the wi-fi is quite snappy. Beds are comfortable, and the location of the hotel makes for comfortable and rather quiet nights for a city this large. The breakfast buffet is more than adequate, and did not deserve the very negative review offered by someone else. In fact, we were offered breakfast-in-a-box when we had to leave very early - twice - to get to the airport. All the hard-working staff has been terrific, and of course it helps if a guest has learned a few words of Spanish just to show some respect. The restaurant "La Tranquera" has been excellent and will be the object of a separate review. At the time of this writing my wife is enjoying quality time at the spa which offers a large selection of treatments at reasonable rates. In the end, we have been very impressed with the hotel's amenities and by the cheerful and helpful staff. We would certainly recommend this hotel to La Paz travelers.
I have been in Bolivia so many times, in different hotels, but Camino Real Suites is the best, excellent service, delicious food, suites are very neat and clean. I really recommend every one this wonderful hotel and I felt like home.
Very good and delicious breakfast, the suite has a lot of space, very well decorated and very silent. The service is very good and the personnel is very friendly. I will recommend this Hotel to anyone coming to La Paz. The best hotel I ever stay in La Paz.
There is a sign in the bathroom saying the water is not suitable for consumption , but only one bottle of water is provided even when you stay three nights..While there is a fridge in the room with water to be purchased at a reasonable price this "nickel ,diming" is not appropriate especially when the water is not drinkable. There was only one face cloth in the bathroom on the first day and no others on the next days even when requested. We received turndown service with chocolate only once on the third night but not on the two previous nights..Some messages to the front desk were not delivered and there was no attempt to find us even though we were thirty feet away. I have been in 150 hotels and this inconsistency is unusual. The food in the restaurant at dinner was fine. The breakfast buffet was below world standard and the croissants inedible. That was surprising since the croissants at the sister hotel in Santa Cruz were ok. The omelets on two days were fine but on one day amateurish. The gentleman first made a scrambled eggs and then tried to turn it into an omelette. The suite we had was well designed, but needed maintenance. The bathroom door was badly scratched and the marble surrounding the tub damaged and poorly repaired. This is a potentially good hotel but is inconsistently managed. There are two new hotels in town which provide new competition and should be considered.
Never disappointed with how good overall this place is. Great staff, awesome restaurant onsite, and very comfortable rooms. I hosted an 18-person dinner and it went flawlessly, including the best bolivian wine. Thanks!
Excellent hotel with excellent service. Checkin early in the morning due to the early flight. We could have breakfast with huge selection free of charge. The room was just great and try the gym and swimming pool, just fantastic...
I stayed at Camino Real with my friend, and fellow travel writer. We're in the business of reviewing hotels, so we approach hotel stays with discerning eyes, especially when it comes to customer service, and the little things that make you feel at home. Before entering the door to the hotel, it was clear that the staff was dedicated to attending to its guests. They opened the door as they saw us with our luggage crossing the street, and helped us with our heavy bags. I also loved that there was a tea and cookie station at reception that the staff was always ready to serve you. The hotel is conveniently located right in the heart of Calacoto, in the lowest part of the city, which makes it best for those who get altitude sickness. The hotel rooms offer gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains, and the green line tram, which is only a short walk away. The hotel also offers a satisfying buffet breakfast. We love how spacious the rooms are. They are also very clean and quiet, making it a comfortable and nice place to relax or get work done. The hotel caters to a lot of traveling business men and women, but still has personal touches that appeal to other types of travelers, like ourselves. It's a great place to stay in La Paz, and we were particularly impressed by the altitude plan they offer to help visitors adjust to less oxygen in La Paz. It was an all-around great visit, and we would give Camino Real 5 stars!
Although It's a bit difficult to find "European 5 style hotels" in Bolivia, this hotel does a very good effort trying to become one. Rooms are nice and neat, specially for high end business travelers. The views are nice and the restaurant "la tranquera" is surprisingly good. When you check in they welcome you in the lobby with "mate de coca" - a sort of green tea made of coke leaf that helps you to deal with high altitude sickness. I would definitely recommended it. Prices are around 1200 bs, around 180usd
