Very pleasant stay to kick off my holiday after 2 weeks traveling for work. Bed so comfortable, room spotless. Glad to be away from the crowd yet still within walking distance from the cathedral and shops Fantastic view of Santiago!
We were fortunate to be allocated rooms with terraces on the 8th floor. Modern, spotless room and bathroom. Good breakfast buffet. Great location; 5 mins stroll from old town, 5 mins more to the cathedral. Can't praise the front desk staff enough -really helpful and pleasant. Great value. Would be very happy to stay here again.
Stayed her with a group of 19 pilgrims from Ireland. We had just completed a section of the Camino Frances. The check in was efficient although they required all passport numbers, DOB etc etc. This seems a little excessive. The rooms are comfortable with good A/C or heating. Bathrooms very plush. Beds comfortable and nice bed linen. The dinner we had was in a large dining room and was buffet style. We had asked to eat at 21.00hrs as our party had wanted to attend the 19.30hrs mass in the Cathedral. This was not a problem . However, we were not told that the dining room closed at 22.00hrs. We had to eat our three course buffet in around about 45 minutes!! The man in charge ran the dining room more like a school canteen. In fact he stated at one stage if I left to use the bathroom I would not be allowed back in as he was now closing. We agreed to leave and suggested retiring to the bar with the rest of the wine that had come with the meal. It was at this stage that I found out that there was no bar and it would be illegal for us to take the wine with us. (I think we had paid for it!!). Breakfast was similar in that the table set for our group had to be vacated by 09.30hrs even though breakfasts went on for another hour. All a bit strange. I do think it is the first time I have been in a Hotel with no bar. There was a mini fridge with one bottle of beer between two guests. Very strange indeed. All in all, I feel this is a comfortable hotel with comfortable facilites but the dining room leaves a lot to be desired.
OMG, I thought I died and went to heaven. What a fabulous hotel, a great way to end my walk on the Camino. This hotel exceeded all of my expectations! The beds were comfortable, the hotel was quiet (it has many, many rooms and lots of people staying there). The breakfast buffet was amazing!!! Lots of choices of meats, breads, cheeses, a wide variety of fruits and hot eggs and bacon. The front desk personal were helpful, kind and pleasant. The staff in the breakfast room were professional and attentive. Location is close, 5 minute walk to the cathedral and area. Felt safe walking to and from the cathedral in the early morning.
The hotel is situated a 5-minutes walk South of the center of Santiago. Helpful staff. Rooms are quite big, very clean, and furniture seems very new. Room was quiet on the backyard. Good breakfast. Very good option in Santiago.
My wife and I arrived a few hours before check-in yet the friendly woman at the desk let us store our luggage there at no additional cost. Our clean room was large, the bath room with tub was large, the bed was a little too firm but 'sleepable", and our window looked out on to the relatively quiet city below.Nearby are a couple of minimarkets and about 10-15 minutes away is the Cathedral. The location is good - far enough away from the crush of tourists and "pilgrims" to make it quiet. We left early the next morning so we can't comment on the breakfast provided. My previous research suggested that this is probably the best hotel in the city for the most reasonable price. From my experience I would guess that this is probably the case.
Relatively new and modern hotel near the shopping area of the city but with one caveat- it is not located within the old historic center of the city. The cathedral is a good 10 to 15 minute walk away but the hotel is otherwise within walking distance of a lot of stores and restaurants. The rooms are large by European standards and are adequately furnished with mini refrigerator and safe. Beds are comfortable but the pillows are too firm for me. Quality of sleep is good. Bathroom is adequate in size. The front desk was slow with usually only one staff considering that there were a lot of pilgrims checking in or out by groups. The breakfast is adequate with eggs and breakfast meats. We had two other meals in the hotel and both were buffet. The food was not particularly impressive. Overall, it is a pretty decent choice for the city.
Faux Art Deco interior does not paper over the problems with this hotel. Reception was surly and unhelpful. The room was not prepared for occupation. The refectory style restaurant was managed by a man who was more suited to a reformatory parade ground than a hotel. The food for our pilgrimage group was unappetising and the wine simply unacceptable in Galicia - or anywhere else.
The hotel was within walking distance of the airport shuttle bus stop so it was very convenient. It was also within walking distance of the city center. There were several nice restaurants nearby. There were also two grocery stores nearby. The staff was very friendly and spoke excellent English. The room was a nice size and very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was good. I enjoyed my stay here and I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
Overall, the hotel is fine, but if some of the missing amenities are important to you, look elsewhere. Pros: the room was clean, and the a/c worked well. Plenty of closet space in our room, and luggage storage, but someone else in our group had a much smaller room where that was not the case. Good shower, and good coffee machine at breakfast. Cons: we've stayed in many European hotels where 2 twin beds are pushed together, but you are well and truly separated from your partner/spouse in the beds here. There is no mattress pad/sheet to connect the two beds, and the blankets are tucked in tightly around each twin bed. The beds aren't held together in any way, so a widening gap separates them if you are inclined to try and get closer to your traveling partner. Some photos seem to show a bed with one large blanket on it, but we specifically reserved a double room and were given 2 twin beds pushed together but not connected in any way. Very thin pillows. Additional pillows were delivered the next day upon request. The soundproofing is poor, allowing hallway and neighboring room chatter to reach us clearly. Breakfast may be traditional and tasty, but there are very few healthy options. If you eat everything and are not trying to be health conscious, you'll be fine with the many types of meat, cheese, white bread, pastries, and full fat yogurt/milk. There are hardboiled eggs (overdone) and sliced fruit, as well as whole fruit, along with sweetened fruit juice. I will start bringing oatmeal with me on future trips, as we went to two of the nearby groceries for snacks every day. No kettle in the room. We were given one at the front desk, but then had to get special permission to unlock the dining room so we could get hot-beverage coffee cups. No tea bags were offered with the kettle. Already had some in the suitcase.
