My husband and I were meant to be in Barbados for our honeymoon, after a huge mess up we said we would splash out and come to Muckross instead. Our two night stay was better than any all inclusive holiday! From the moment we walked in we were greeted with the friendliest of staff, a warm fire and a cup of coffee. My husband explained what happened and Adrian was so kind and sympathetic, he went above and beyond and upgraded us to an amazing suite. There will never be enough thank you's, the entire staff from Shalif in concierge, Christina in the SPA and the amazing staff that served the best afternoon tea in the Monks Bar, thank you so much. You all have no idea how special you made us feel! We are already planning another trip very very soon. It's times like this you can truly say that no where in the world beats the comfort of home (Ireland) and the amazing Irish hospitality!
After a fabulous night away with my husband to celebrate our anniversary. It ticked all the boxes, super luxurious without a hint of pretentiousness. We arrived to check up to discover Adrian had upgraded us (had mentioned on booking it was our anniversary ) to a fabulous room with 4 poster bed, bottle of wine and chocs!!! Car had a puncture on drive to Killarney and they offered to get wheel fixed for us!!!!! Room, spa, food, service all get 10/10 from us. We did not step outside hotel except to use hot tub. Best breakfast!!!! Thank you Muckross Park.... we are already planning our next stay...
stayed here on the 3rd and 4th of january for my birthday with my wife and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay the dinner was exquisite. we stayed in a superior king room and it was lovely. the vitality suite was very relaxing and we loved the outdoor outtub. thanks to the staff that left birthday chocs and a card in my room. it was a lovely touch!
We have just returned from a wonderful three night stay in Muckross Park hotel. Despite the indifferent early January weather, we really enjoyed our time there. It is a perfect location for a quiet, relaxing break - the rooms are spacious and comfortably appointed and the spa area is immaculately maintained. And it is lovely to have to have the opportunity to enjoy a Nespresso coffee in one's room. We found the same problem as a previous reviewer with our shower - it fluctuated from really cold to uncomfortably hot. Having reported the problem to the reception desk on our way to breakfast, we were assured later that all was well. Unfortunately, the same problem recurred the following morning. On this occasion, we returned to the room and met the exceptionally courteous maintenance man who thoroughly checked the system. Having apologised profusely for the "inconvenience", he promised to follow up and examine the supply to the room. The shower worked perfectly on our third morning and as we were leaving, we encountered the maintenance man working with a colleague on the stairs. He recognised us and took the opportunity to check whether we were, now, happy with the shower and again he apologised about the malfunction. I was very surprised to find that we were charged E17.40 for 2 coffees and scones (albeit freshly baked and beautifully presented) in Monk's bar - somewhat excessive, I felt for such an everyday treat in a bar. On the plus side, the staff are top class, friendly and efficient and the breakfast offerings are top notch.
I was really disappointed with our stay in Muckross for NYE 2017. After paying €300 for a room , we had high expectations but left feeling disappointed and overcharged. When we arrived at 3pm, we checked in and were shown to our room. I noted the receptionist never mentioned breakfast to us, which was included in the room rate (Where to go, what time it was served etc) so had to ask a waitress in the bar that evening. The bedroom I felt was dated and lacked any wow factor that a 5star hotel should offer. The shower in the room was in the bath (no stand alone shower- I found that odd/cheap). When I had a shower, I couldn't stand under it for longer than 30 seconds, as the temperature went from freezing to boiling and was very uncomfortable. Instead, I had to go down to the pool area to shower. At 8.30pm that evening we went for dinner in the bar. All specials were sold out, along with the chicken and venison. That left very little to choose from on the menu, but I went with the burger with pickles and relish. The waitress told me that the menu was wrong and it now is served with BBQ sauce and Tomatoes. So this limited the menu even further. The food was nice when it arrived to be fair. We went back to the room later that evening and turned on the TV, we turned it off soon after as the picture was blurry on most channels. Breakfast the next morning was ok, again, nothing to write home about. I think its unfortunate that we had an unenjoyable stay after spending so much on the room, we just expected much, much more. I definitely wouldn't rate this hotel as 5*, but I will say the staff were all nice and polite.
Stayed recently for a wedding. The service was excellent, food was lovely and the hotel was very clean. My only fault would be with the price of coffee, €4.20 for a small americano coffee at the bar, which also happened to be cold. This is scandalously over-priced in my opinion and the hotel could do with reviewing these prices. Otherwise, I would have no complaints.
The staff are excellent. The attention to detail is 5 star. The standard of the restaurant is also 5 star. They manage the spa better than most 5 star hotels. We will be coming back here for sure and are hugely grateful to the staff for making us feel really special on our anniversary.
I recently stayed at the Muckross Hotel & Spa and to say the experience was amazing is an understatement. The Hotel is situated in a beautiful location in the wonderful location of the majestic Killarney town. From the time I checked in until my checkout I was treated like anyone would like to be treated on a a break. I am compelled to mention Brendan the Accommodation Manager who I met when I was shown to my suite. There was not task or request too large for Brendan, you can really see he loves his job and has a very unique and special personality. Brendan ensured I was happy with everything and even to the day I was leaving made me feel relaxed about checking out even though I had a treatment booked in the Spa on the same day. The Spa staff are also so helpful especially Louise who really likes to ensure you enjoy the treatments provided. What makes the visit for me is the personal touch Madina Zikare adds to the trip and I truly look forward to her warm friendly smile when we meet. I really reccommend a trip to this wonderful Hotel that have all the necessary ammenties and most certainly reccommend a stay in The Blue Pool Suite!
I visited this hotel in 2014 and found it lacking, what a change in 2017! I stayed here for a night to attend a party. The apartment I stayed in was very comfortable and well appointed. The food was excellent, the spa was a lovely way to start the following day but the real clincher for me were the staff. I have rarely felt so welcome in a hotel, the staff were professional, efficient, warm, friendly and very keen to make my stay as comfortable as possible. A big thank you to all the staff and congrats for turning the place around. I will happily stay here again and have no hesitation in recommending Muckross Park Hotel.
Husband booked this hotel to spend our special time ... wedding anniversary and my birthday. But..... Giving 2 stars because of food. Like 5star hotel food not match it. For us most important food in the hotel because u spending extra money for that. Worst food in 10 hotels were we visited. After dinner we got sick. Soup i had only 4spoons, main only half and dessert didn't eat at all= 52€ for nothing( only me). What about my husband... after dinner straight to the toilet. Staff Even didnt recommend to try something else. We had breakfast included but we never went for it. Very disappointed. ..
