What more can you say, it’s a palace. The hotel and grounds were exceptional. The staff was friendly and went above and beyond for us. The food at the restaurant and bar was terrific. Everyone seemed genuinely pleased that we (and all the other guests) were there.
Beautiful hotel. Loved the views of the highlands from both the restaurant and the bar.
A wonderful find, tucked away between Inverness and Edinburgh. We were looking to stay in a castle or palace like place for part of our trip and this filled the bill. Interesting history with a museum in the basement, fabulous grounds, good food, great service and wonderful lobby and many sitting areas. Highly recommended!
We had looked forward to staying here in hopes to a nice end to our trip. Yet I am sad to say we multiple issues during our stay. It started during check in. The hotel was packed with a wedding. During check in I was shoved aside by a very drunk wedding guest looking for his room key. I did not know at the time but this same guest was in the room next to me. Moving on to dinner.. it was hard to get around the hotel due to all the wedding guest. But we were able to get a table at the very over priced restaurant. We sat next to one of the windows where about 20 to 30 nats where all over the window and me for that matter. The staff serving was mediocre at best. The rooms are very small, old, and not the most conferrable. WiFi is spotty through the hotel. But all that is to be expected in a castle.. the real problem started around 12:45am.. the drunk..now couple. Started to get in a big fight in the room next to me.. screaming.. throwing items. Etc. I called the front deak and asked for the manager but was told he was to busy with the wedding. So they said they would take care of the noise.. they did for about 30 mins. And it started again. Long story short I complained 3 times and gave up. In the morning I spoke with the manager and she did apologize but I felt it was to little and to late.
Wonderful Christmas holiday at the Atholl Palace Hotel. Everything was to an incredibly high standard. Staff couldn't be more helpful. Food and service impeccable. Booked in for a Spa with Alison, highly recommend the lavender lullaby, full body treatment. Absolute bliss. Swimming pool, Jacuzzi and steam room were also wonderful to utilise. The hotel also boasts its own museum, recounting the history.
This is a very large hotel that has the feeling of a convention center. You get the feeling that they are overwhelmed with the numbers of people who stay there and cannot keep up with the cleaning and service.
An amazing castle with a spectacular past and a museum to show that past off; combined with excellent food, exceptional Haggis and plenty of fun for all ages. Chip and putt, tennis, a spa for the ladies and a smoking room / whisky bar for everyone. This was by far the favorite hotel of our group during our stay in Scotland.
