Very disappointed with suite. Wasn’t really much of a suite. Couch was old and dirty. Kitchen area was tiny, in room coffee wasn’t much. Lobby coffee was cold, apples were old and mushy. Bed was ok and hotel was quite but halls and lobby area were extremely hot! Bathroom floor area needed a better cleaning. Towels, sink, shower and toilet were all clean. Shower water pressure was good. Wouldn’t recommend though as rooms really needed updated and old dirty furniture replaced. Also light was on the darker side and internet wasn’t that great either. Overall won’t stay again. Been in worse but also been in much much better. If you like the brand new modern Holliday Inns this is Not it!
The lobby and breakfast areas were clean, open, comfortable and well-lit. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but obviously a little used. Bed lost its support, and toilet flapper didn't like to close. Refrigerator was great, shower worked well, and room was very spacious for the price. I'd gladly stay for one night, but the unsupportive beds wouldn't work for me if I stayed longer.
I have stayed at his location many times to and from our trips down to Georgia to see family. Pool is great, breakfast is good. You should stay here, unless you plan on paying cash or have more than 2 children!!!! I’m a IHG member and never have I been met with such disrespect! I put a room on hold with my debit card (hold room only, pay when I get there) I get there and as soon as I wanted to pay for room in cash, I was treated like a was a huge partier that was going to destroy the place!! Val at concierge needs a HUGE lesson in customer service! So rude to assume things about people!!! Then after finding out other details, (like the huge deposits on rooms and strict rules bc others abuse the rules) we decided not to stay at this location and she said there would be no cancellation fee. So I left, got to the parking lot and she used my card I had on file for a room hold only to authorize a deposit for incidentals!!!! I didn’t even give her my credit card or permission to use the one on file to hold the room!! Because it was a Saturday I was then left with no money in that account until Monday! This family of 4 had to sleep in the van! I hope Val learns some manners on how to talk to people (yes I did speak loudly to her after I found out she charged my debit card without permission) but I never used inappropriate words. Just spoke loudly as she yelled back at me!! In front of the manager!!!!! Great hospitality at this location!!! Wow! Never again! I have no problem owning up to my yelling, I tried to talk nice, but when you mess with my family and our money you will get the mean Mom!
I stop here once or twice per year traveling to Chicago. The king rooms are spacious and have a comfortable feel … and a comfortable chair . . . kinda like home. The bed was comfortable. This time, I tried their breakfast which was plenty good -- Scrambled eggs, sausage, pastries, etc. It can be a little pricier than neighboring hotels, but not by much and it’s a sure thing. I like it!
Check-In was very pleasant and they changed our rooms around so that they would be closer. Our rooms were nice and clean, but had a slight odor that they've been closed up for too long. Our breakfast was good and they offered a little something different each morning; glad to have that changed up a little. Fresh cookies are in the main lobby in the afternoons. One of the guests had a little party that started around 8pm with music, but at 10pm sharp the music stopped.
At the end of a six week drive around the Mid-West, we stayed here for two nights before returning to O'Hare for our flight home. This Holiday Inn Express is situated next to a shopping mall but it was very quiet and easily accessed. The staff we met were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good, though not as good as other HIE we have stayed at. Our room was comfortable, clean and quiet with a fridge and microwave. There are several restaurants close by and It was a fairly easy drive back to O'Hare from here. There is a new hotel being built opposite (possibly a Hampton Inn) so this HIE will need to keep on their toes to keep their clientele.
This breakfast was so so disappointing. The biscuits weren't cooked all the way. They had no milk. They only offered turkey sausage! And the egg omelette was dry and burnt on the edges. I've had the holiday inn breakfast many times and I've never had a bad breakfast. I asked the lady for milk and she said she would be right back. She came back with nothing and went straight in the back. When I asked about the milk she mumbled something about being out. She wasn't even going to come tell me. Seriously not impressed with the service either.
First the good: Fast Wifi - nice Large airy lobby - nice Many Pillows - nice Check in - friendly nice young man Breakfast - good selection Could be better: Breakfast: not hot, barely warm Breakfast worker D- or maybe F, she was not helpful. Bad attitude. Here is my conversation with her: Me: Could I have a tray? (To bring food to my wife) Her: Shoulder shrug (frown) Me: (Use my hands to show a rectangle) Tray? Her: We ain't got no trays (frown) Me: I've never been in a Holiday Inn Express that did not have trays Her: Shoulder shrug (frown) A few minutes pass. I notice a sign that says "Trays Available". I picked up the sign and showed it to Ms. Helpful. Her: What is that? (Perhaps she can't read?) Me: It says "Trays Available" Her: If we had any trays, they would be here. She opened one of the many cabinets. (Frown) Me: Okay I look around as I eat. I see a stack of trays on the top shelf in the kitchen. Then I can hear her her moving the trays. I expect her to appear with one. Nope. She left the breakfast area. I didn't feel comfortable going into the kitchen, but I spotted a tray near the pancake machine! I took it and began getting food for my wife. Ms. Helpful returned, grumbling to herself "I ain't in housekeeping, why they ask me to do that?" As she stood in front of the eggs, in my way. She didn't seem to notice that I was using a tray or even that I was there! (Side note: it was 8:40am and I was the only guest in the room the entire time) Sorry HIE, one employee cost you a star. I would have given you four stars.
We stayed one night for a funeral. The staff was friendly and the lobby was clean. Once we got to the third floor where our room was, it smelled musty in the hallway and our room. Our room was fairly clean, but not spotless. They did offer a complimentary breakfast which was nice.
Overall, the hotel wasn't too bad, but it's in need of an update. The rooms are dusty and small. The air conditioning units in the rooms go from sweltering heat to arctic within one degree and they blow directly into the bed nearest to it. It doesn't make for the best sleeping conditions. The free breakfast is always helpful and the hotel is close to the campus. There are also lots of shopping and restaurants, so you can get all your needs quickly. It was great for the move in weekend, but until it's updated, I'll try somewhere else next time.
