Econolodge doesn't have the best reputation but when Red Roof cancelled our reservation on Memorial Day weekend because we didn't arrive by 6pm, we called around and found this gem. We needed two rooms and one had to be smoking. Typically smoking hotels are pretty yucky. This one is clean, and the owners are busy updating. New beds and big flat screen tvs. Some bathrooms have been re-done. Ours were not but they were clean. No frills but decent free continental breakfast and just the nicest gal at the night check-in. She saved the rooms for us and was just as helpful as can be. Suggested a wonderful restaurant right down the street. Close to huge shopping area, Waffle House for breakfast and airport. I'd stay here again and I am really picky
We stayed here in one of the recently updated rooms. New bed and nice large TV. Room was clean, staff was friendly. We told the clerk that we were going to the Catty Shack and found out that she also volunteers there! There are all sorts of restaurants nearby, is close to the airport, WalMart, shopping, etc. Our room had a microwave, mini fridge, hair dryer, coffee maker and clean towels. I'm not sure if there was an iron and ironing board in the room. Hmmm.... Would definitely stay here again if we are ever in the area.
We picked this hotel because it has a shuttle service to cruise port and safe parking for car while on the cruise. Nita, the desk clerk, was very helpful and gave us a better rate for our one night stay and the shuttle service and car parking. She gave us a combo rate that was not offered on the internet reservation site. She saved us $30. Our room was clean and comfortable and the hot breakfast was very good. Nita is an asset to this hotel, and deserves all the praise I can give her.
Stayed here roughly a year ago prior to a cruise out of jaxport. I was looking at booking it again in advance of the Taxslayer Bowl when I realized I had not yet reviewed my first stay. It's a no-frills hotel, true to the brand. I found the front desk to be friendly, the room to be clean enough, and the price and location to be good. The environment was quiet, the bed comfortable, and I slept well. A free breakfast is a nice perk, limited as the offerings may be. There were some slight discolorations/ stains on the wall by the door, but these were not off-putting to the point of being objectionable. I would, and indeed intend to, stay here again.
We stayed overnight on our way to South Florida. Older facility but with recent room renovations (newer furniture, larger TV, new carpet). The room was pleasantly spacious and the beds and pillows were actually comfortable. The front desk staff was friendly, the biggest disappointment was the continental breakfast, not much selection and out of some items. Pet and handicap friendly. It could have been slightly more inexpensive, but overall, not bad. Under similar circumstances, we would stay there again.
Needed a place to stay for the night while driving by and had Choice points to cover staying here so stopped. It is obviously not at the top of the food chain in the Choice Hotel spectrum but remember why you stop here and it is ok. Staff is helpful service ok, breakfast almost non existent, but room clean and plumbing working. If you need a cheap room for the night, here it is.
Double bed pet room. Clean enough not sparkling. Did notice my dog sniffing a lot of corners as if dog left pee mail. Did not stink though. Bathroom on the old side needs updating. I got a discount and is what I would expect to pay for its condition. I wouldn't pay more then $50.
If I was you I wouldn't stay here...the room is stink, the sheet are dirty, the covers have cigarette burns on them, gum on the floor, they only get like 10 channels, the walls are dirty, the tub is horrible...trust me when I tell you DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!
On way back from Florida this is not our usual place to stay as our first stopover and was not one we would choose, however every other place was filled since there was a bike race in town and what rooms were left were way out priced ...I know that there are mostly negative reviews here BUT...we did not encounter anything that warranted it on our stay. The lodge was purchased by new owners and it looks like they trying to update and improve their image and we fortunately got one of those improved rooms. Room was clean and freshly painted and decorated ...however it does live up to its name ..ECONOMY...there are no frills what so ever like a real bar of soap shampoo lotion etc But it served its purpose and the check in woman on duty couldn't have been nicer
I booked a room for my sister to be in close proximity to airport after tending to family member at St Vincent's Hospital in Jacksonville. Because of emergency surgery for family member was reason for visit, she didn't arrive at hotel until almost 3am. So tired and stressed, she needed sleep. The room was filthy. Carpet dirty. She had to sleep on the top of bed because of stains and hairs in the sheets and had to do the "public washroom hover" in the bathroom because toilet had not been cleaned. Visible stains/ring. She was told when she checked in that it was the last room so she made the best of it and planned to contest in the morning before her flight as options at 3am were limited. When she went to check out for flight so many people waiting at the desk she unable to lodge complaint. Since I booked for her and paid for the room, I called this 1181 Airport Road location when she told me details of stay and Hank Patel identified himself as manager. After a very unpleasant back and forth, Hank told me to file a complaint with American Express and hung up on me. So I did. And I am detailing here next... don't stay here unless you think $90.40 is a good price for hovering and sleeping on top of the bed. Attempts to talk to someone at Choice Hotels is a waste of time. Numbers on website don't work and from viewing other reviews with the same complaints as mine you will see they don't really care..these low standards are apparently their baseline and all they are willing to do to make amends is to make excuses.
