I stayed here for just one night but as a regular Candlewood Suite customer I knew what to expect. The lady who checked me in was very friendly and helpful and offeredme a free snack and drink from the Cupboard as well as upgrading me as a Spire Elite Member. My room was large and roomy and the bed was so comfortable i could have stayed in it all day. The hotel feels fairly new as everything is in top condition. There is a nice fitness room and small outdoor pool. I will stay again if in the area
The room was exceptionally clean and the bathroom was spacious. Bring your own coffee and creamer for the room, though, because it isn’t close to a place for breakfast and the in-room coffee is awful. The staff is friendly and there’s plenty of parking.
i really enjoyed my week's stay at this hotel. it was convenient to almost every where i needed to go. (except my two children that live there were closer to I-10. but everywhere else i wanted to go, it was great) i enjoyed being able to cook my own meals. and having easy access to the Southside Connector (which is new to me). the "Except" came when i found out that the hotel does not offer breakfast or daily room cleaning. i had to take my trash out to the trash can in the hallway in order for it to be picked up. and....on the day that i was checking out, the room across the hallway from me had a used condom (semen inside) hanging on the door knob. IT. WAS. GROSS. i reported to the desk staff. but it was an experience. overall though, i would definitely stay here again when i come to visit Jax next year; as this is an annual trip for me because my kids and grandkids are there. just stay clean!!!
We stayed here the night before a cruise. Check in was quick and the girl at the front desk was very nice and helpful with us trying to find somewhere to eat. The only negative experience were the ants found in the room. With the rooms having an eat in kitchen I can understand how there could be an issue on occasion but unfortunately a few of them had bitten my foot. We spoke with the front desk and they were very sorry for our experience and made sure we were happy when we left. I would stay here again.
We stayed for 10 days at the Candlewood Suites while awaiting an apartment rental for our relocation due to hurricane Irma damage to our house. This hotel was the best choice due to its proximity to our neighborhood. Front desk was very professional. There was a problem with our electronic room lock which was quickly rectified by replacing the lock. All rooms in this hotel have identical layouts. The rooms are no more spacious than say a typical Hampton Inn room; i.e., it is a stretch to call them suites. The design appears to be for accommodating a single occupant comfortably, and beyond that a stretch. The room houses two beds, an integrated (small) table, a recliner, a desk chair, a casual chair, and a galley kitchenette with a 2 burner cook top, a microwave, a full refrigerator, and a dishwasher. There is a small selection of cookware and other typical utensils such as plates and silverware. As you can see, there isn't much room for anything else. The bathroom is typical, but with much more plentiful and higher quality towels than many hotels, even upper end ones, supply these days. There is a large closet that includes an iron and laundry basket. The laundry facility is on the ground floor with multiple washers and driers, all included in the room charge which is a definite plus for an extended stay. Internet clocked in at 25 Mbps and the TV channel selection was excellent, including HBO and Cinemax. The hotel appears to have undergone a recent renovation since the room contents were in great condition. For an extended stay room service is weekly and is thorough. I found the bedding quite comfortable and slept well. In addition to fast food places, there is a nearby Publix, an all you can eat restaurant on the adjacent property, and an excellent Italian restaurant across the Merrill Road thoroughfare within walking distance; i.e., the location is excellent for those doing extended stays. Ingress/egress to roads is easy and the eastern I-295 bypass is nearby. The third floor of the hotel is currently for smokers, but the management indicated they are thinking of going non-smoking on all floors due to routinely losing non-smoker business when the first two floors fill up. I highly recommend this hotel for one person extended stays. It is an excellent choice for couples just needing a room for short stays. I do not recommend it for an extended stay for 2 or more people. It is also important to specify to the hotel smoking or non-smoking, at least so long as they continue to have the third floor for smokers.
Stayed here the night before a cruise. Ubered from the airport for about $20 and another $20 to the cruise terminal. There is literally nothing to eat around the hotel other than BK and Golden Corral. Room was basic, nothing to write home about although it smelled like cigarette smoke really bad(we were in a non-smoking room) Dogs were in the room next to us and barked all day.
The staff here is very friendly. Stayed here on points and they gave me the suite upgrade. We were on the run from Hurricane Irma only to find out the next morning it was now on track to come here. They let me cancel the next night without penalty.
I could not be happier, I just spent 5 weeks at this location and you will not find a cleaner hotel, the staff went out of their way to help, even when the hurricane hit, I will stay here again when Im in the area, Thank You
I've stayed at this location several times. I'd recommend this location for a short or extended stay. The rates are reasonable, it's clean, the staff is friendly, and it's centrally located to beach, shopping, and medical facilities. There are a lot of amenities such as pool, free laundry, gym, and kitchenettes in all rooms. The parking lot is well lit and there's a sense of security for women traveling alone.
We retreated here from Tampa during Hurricane Irma and can't say enough about our positive experience. I called a handful of hotels and they were the only one who said they "may" have availability and would call me back within 30-45 minutes. They followed through and we reserved the last available room. They allowed our family of four to also bring our golden retriever and made us feel comfortable during a stressful time. The lady at the front desk, Lawanda (sp), was a calming presence, was there all 3 days and handled my children and all of the patrons really well. Our family highly recommends Candlewood Suites.
