Comfort Inn Marshall2.5 out of 5.0

I wanted to post to explain how truly terrifying my stay was at the Comfort Inn in Marshall, Michigan. I had a family emergency and had to drive from Indiana to Michigan overnight through dangerous fog that finally forced me to stop around 6a. I stopped, exhausted after being awake 21 hours , and was checked in by a very rude young man. I asked for the cheapest rate available and was told the room rate was $89 but my AAA discount got me 10% off. As I waited for the young man to check me in, a young man came through the lobby blasting very loud vulgar rap music. The music honestly scared me because the lyrics talked about women being worthless and just bodies. I asked the front desk agent to do something and he said he "didn't know what he'd even do". So I had to turn around and ask the man to stop ... to which he turned up the music. The clerk still did nothing while I had to wait for another 5-10 minutes for him to fill out paperwork. I was terrified the man was going to run at me or start something. I was too exhausted to drive anywhere so I was literally trapped. I asked the front office worker to watch me walk to my car to which he rolled his eyes and when I walked out, he walked away. The man with the music stood up, watched me walk to my car, and stared at me as I drove away. I didn't sleep a minute - terrified what the man may do to me or my car. When I informed the front office manager he simply said he'd talk to the young male employee -- no apology -- nothing. Now, I see I've been charged $126 and I have had enough & absolutely disgusted at how I was treated. Women should never ever have to fear being attacked while just needing a "shelter from the storm". Shame on you, Comfort Inn!!
This has to be one of the noisiest hotels I have ever stayed in. I was placed in a room right by one of the two outdoor exits doors. Every time someone came in or out, the headboard on the bed would shake. It even woke me up a few times. The noise in the hallways echoed. In the room next door I could hear the talking in a normal voice. The room directly above me sounded like they had elephants up there. The toilet in my room ran and ran and even flushed on its own. The room had a strange odor. I do not recommend this property and will not go back.
I would tell anyone and I have to go to comfort inn Marshall, instead of staying at Firekeepers, its only 6 mins east, and the staff is a ton friendlier and the rooms are just as nice at the casino with a lot less walking to get to your room, or car
We asked for a non-smoking room. We were told all rooms were non-smoking. The hallways smelled like smoke. We asked to be moved - nothing else was available. The srayed room and we were told they were not responsible for what people did in the rooms. We had no other choice for the night. When we returned home, I checked credit card to find they had put a $25 charge on our card - because my husband wrote on a 3X5 "non- smoking" piece of paper, THIS IS NOT TRUE - FALSE ADVERTISING. They called it property damage. Beware - they don't charge smokers - only people that object to a smoking room...
We stayed here after a day on the road and getting tired. Nice room, clean, two comfortable beds. Nice staff. Breakfast okay. The lady in charge heated up more biscuits and gravy for us latecomers. USA Today! Bathroom small but adequate. $80.00 for AARP rate plus tax = $92 for room. How does this compare with your experience?
It was a great time staying here. Very close to our destination, Albion College. I plan to become a regular when visiting my cousin at school. I did enjoy breakfast and the pool, hot tub, and sauna were excellent!
Great location and very friendly and helpful staff Room was a little worn but fine plus it had a microwave and fridge Great Location and easy access and more restaurants and grocery nearby, Check in was late night and fast.
The only problem I have here is the cleanliness. I am used to attention to detail. When I asked for the hot tub to be cleaned because I was expecting a guest and had used it the night before after having a massage, it was because there was massage oil residue on the wall of the tub. It was not done even tho the did come to give me fresh towels, I was less than happy about having to get in there and clean it myself.
need to upgrade room with higher toilet, and make bathtub more accessible. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, but didn't like that I couldn't take a shower because I couldn't get into the tub did not make me happy.
very good overall quiet all night till construction crew started work in the morning next to the hotel. beds a tad hard , breakfast just fair. air conditioner worked perfectly room keys worked every time. nice location
