Amazing place in the world I am in love with this hotel amazing I wish i could live there for all my life best place in the world room service is amazing reservations such wonderful people and very historic place you must stay at hotel
To Istanbul, for a few days at this hotel - where I've stayed before in the days before the Jumeirah management. Astonishing public areas, immaculately restored. Rooms generously- sized with excellent beds. Rooms on the Bosphorus side overlook a busy road, so usually I ask for one overlooking the Pera area to the rear, although on this occasion the rooftop bars opposite were belting music out until around 11.30pm. The hotel was pretty empty in the evenings, with only a handful of people in the bar and dining lounge area. Most of the other guests (older Chinese & Japanese) appeared to be in tour groups, and presumably were eating en masse elsewhere. They missed out: The food was good and well-presented. The breakfast buffet was more 4* than 5* however. Pastries plentiful, but the hot choice and fruit selection was limited. The deserted spa/hammam was small but well-equipped. If you're on a homage to Agatha Christie or the glory, luxury days of the Orient Express, this is the place for you - especially at currently depressed rates. If you want somewhere with history plus a bit of a buzz and some entertaining people watching, then I'd look elsewhere.
If you are visiting Istanbul to immerse yourself in its unmatched history this is the hotel for you. Completed on 1892, it was the eastern terminus of the Orient Express Railway. Guests were carried in palanquins from the station to the hotel. Agatha Christie stayed here while writing Murder on the Orient Express. The restaurant and a suite are named for her. Greta Garbo Garbo has her suite, too, as do King Edward VIII and Emperor Franz Joseph. Fabulous bar, an especially welcome cool, dark retreat on a hot humid summer day. The library, tearoom and ballroom are exquisite. DO NOT FAIL to visit the basement gym/ pool, steam, sauna and massage spa. Do not fail to pull the rope in the shower off the sauna and let the wooden bucket of cold water splash deliciously over you. The hotel fell into decline in the 1980s and 1990s but the Jumeirah chain has brought it back to its old grandeur. Small, at 120 rooms, and certainly not as glitzy as the Four Seasons, but a joy to stay at.
We did not stay at the hotel but due to its history and reported ambience visited for afternoon tea. We were not disappointed. There was hardly anyone there in a gorgeous old English style room where we had coffee, pastries and sweets. Excellent service and a big thank you to us for visiting. A good two hours spent in the time of Agatha Christie.
A lovely old hotel which has been renovated with great respect for the period. The furnishings are classic and understated in the rooms while the public spaces are on the regal side. Kind of like staying in a museum but with fantastic staff. They are quite exceptional. The location of the hotel is perfect for visiting all of Istanbul as you can walk or take public transport very easily. My only suggestion is that the prices in the bar and tea room be reduced as they are quite out of line with all the fabulous places in the neighbourhood. As a result the bar and tea room are almost empty which affects the atmosphere. but all in all, this place really is worth a stay.
It was my first time to visit Turkey and really it was like dream , first of all I arrived at 6am and my check in time was 12pm but the incredible people in reception they notice that I am pregnant and have one child so they checked me in so it was awesome, after that I checked in to my room and I like the furniture and the color of the room was very comfortable , and really the house keeping they make up my room every day and make more and more clean and organized even they organized my kids clothes and mine because every day Iam in a hurry to discover new destination in Istanbul, and all the people there are really helpful and always smiling also if you want to surprise your couple with a cake OMG they have the best ever as by Husband make wedding anniversary surprise and he brought me ( Black Forest cake ) I am never had like this before , the breakfast was ok but not wooww as everything, I think they should make more varieties and to show more effort about Turkish traditional breakfast and at last the people was helpful with me every day to carry my baby stroller from elevator side to main door so I think they should make slide way to stroller and wheel chair. So thank you so much for the amazing experience as usual Jumeirah hotels is the best
Since you put a foot in front you notice the service! They are really amazing & fast! The food in the restaurant is delicious! The room es big enough to make you feel home & cozy enough to forget is a hotel.
i would like to summarize my experience in few coming lines: 1. The service was extraordinary and fantastic. 2. The room was so clean although one side has good view to Bosphorus and the opposite side not . We asked staff to change our room and the did so. 3. location was good far from crowded area which we wouldn't prefer and it has good view of city 4. breakfast was excellent. staff very friendly with beautiful smile on their face. i would like to give 4.5 out of 5 to this hotel . i decrease 0.5 because of pool which is very small.
I don't think I have ever stayed in historic place like the Pera Palace, it was an ancient modern hotel and needless to say that my stay was wonderful and memorable. I think the hotels location is as good as it gets in comparison to other luxurious hotels in Istanbul. the services through the hotel were wonderful because of the staff who were attentive and courteous not forgetting my favourite concierge manager Mr. Evern for whom my first time visit to Istanbul would not have been as fun and eventful without his guidance.
The Pera Palace hotel is a historical hotel in the center of Istanbul Impressive hotel Amazing rooms, spacious and very comfortable Simple decoration, and excellent room service and concierge service. The breakfast is good as well, however breakfast room location could be better. I would definitely use the hotel again
