My Assos Hotel4.0 out of 5.0

I should know better than letting someone else book my hotel, but that's what I did at Istanbul airport. I arrived late and I could easily see that this was far from the standard of what a "4****" hotel should be. It did remind me somehow of a run down version of the Budapest Hotel. Room 205 smells - mostly of urine. The place is pretty run down and and you'll see it in the carpets. I'd avoid. That said the staff were nice to me in the past 24 hours.
what you're looking for in a hotel when you go on a business trip? Be clean, quiet and staff be helpful. If you want a rich (for the area) breakfast, then surely you choose the ASSOS HOTEL.This is the second time I visit this hotel, and not regretted it at all. I have stayed at more than 10 hotels in the area, but now I do not change the ASSOS HOTEL. Whatever problem you have, I am sure that Mr. Selami Polat at the reception , will solve it.
*The swimming pool was not working. I got a room there just because my kids wanted a swimming pool and have fun but when we got there they told us that it is not working they are advertising for fake. *The bathtub was leaking *The sink and bathtub drain was blocked *The wash room exhaust does not work *The small fridge was dirty *Stuff were staring at us while we were eating our breakfast *They charge 67tl for (4 pop, 3 water & 2 red bull) but these are hidden charges for happy endings
The hotel from the outside looks very shabby and isn't in the best of areas. Although it's close to the local tram service (albeit up a very steep hill), if you head down the hill the area is quite rough. I wouldn't want to walk around there alone - grafitti, rubbish everywhere, men hanging around watching you etc etc. Inside the public areas aren't great - the rooftop bar and restaurant is very old and am not sure things are cleaned. We went up there around 4pm when we arrived and the breakfast cereal and milk were still out - the milk was warm. We avoided milk during our stay as weren't sure it was refreshed every morning. I feel mislead by the hotel saying they had a rooftop bar - I wrongly assumed it was outside. It wasn't. It was in the restaurant and not a separate bar area, just a corner with drinks. The bedroom we had was very nice and clean and was a very good size. My only (minor) niggle was the fact we were right opposite a mosque which woke us up during the night with their praying, a very minor thing which is to be expected in Istanbul.
It was an excellent experience .Services are very good, staff is very cooperative. The outside view from the dining hall is very beautiful. Overall everything is good. Hotel is on a very good location near to Grand Bazar, blue mosque.
We choose this hotel because it was centrally located and was good value for money. It was exactly this. You can walk to all the central places in old town. We spent most of the time out of the hotel in Istanbul itself. The hotel is dated. However when booking the hotel we asked for a high level room with good views. So out room was upgraded to the penthouse sweet with amazing views and a huge terrace for no extra charge. It is hard to access via lift then stairs. Staff at the hotel were friendly. Spa is very small, we did visit it, but decided not to go in. If you are staying to explore Istanbul then definitely stay here. If you are after a really nice hotel ie radisson blue, holiday inn, then you will need to stay about 20/30min out of the old city and travel in each day. Mosque call to prayer is very loud at 5am.
Staff were due.we were in a room that has a windows very small Simulation cell .breakfast was Uniform and very Ordinary !!!!! Hotel was not clean the pool was not free.htel has 4star but was low 2star
We decided to dine here but never stayed. The food was average not good but certainly not bad. The service was also passable but the staff could have been a bit more friendly. The dining area itself was clean but certainly old and would be served better if there was more light.
Centrally located, Hotel Assos is all about value. We upgraded to a penthouse room with terrace overlooking the Marmara Sea for no additional charge & a $5 tip (Euros always preferred these days). The included breakfast was substantial, & delicious also with a great view. All major sites; Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar, Spice Bazaar, Boshororous Strait were an easy stroll away. Staff was hospitable and accommodating, but be prepared to pay if you take their advise on dinner reservations and tours. Recommendations were of high quality, and restaurants in the best locations, for steep prices. I would stay again.
The hotel is located down a steep street from Beyazit tramway area. No special views from the rooms, although the restaurant at 6th floor has view of the Marmara Sea. Our room was clean and of good size, with old style furnitue etc. WiFi connection was good and fairly fast. Our bathroom looked fairly new renovated, but hotwater was nonexcisting or took a long time with tap open. Staff was friendly and helpful. Soundproofing not so good. We could hear people on the outside street loudly speaking and discussing till very late evening. There is a mosque just across the street from the main entrance to the hotel, but we were not bothered with the sounds..... About 5 minutes walk uphill to Beyazit with tram and Grand Bazar and Book Bazar. About 15 minutes walk further down to Hagia Sophia and the other main tourist attractions. An OK hotel, but next time we will try another one.
