Convinient hotel close to the city center. The meals are tasty. Not very crowded part of the city in the middle of the working center of the city. I advice it very much especially for business trips. Nice rooms and professional staff.
If you need to be located iN Asian side, perfect to stay here. Very near from metro-bus station in Altunizade (easy 10´walk to the hotel´-15´with baggage). 1 hour distance to airport with metro + metro bus connection
location is great for asian side room was nice and enjoyed an upgrade, thanks staff was mostly nice but forgot to wake me up at 8H30am as requested breakfast staff wanted to recharge me for breakfast and i had to prove them that was included in my prepaid booking a bit surprised no to receive any welcome fruit basket or sweets in accordance to my accor gold member status no remote control found in the room, did not bother to call by midnight..... overall good stay but premise needs to improve and communicate better
I enjoyed two nights in this hotel end of February 2017. Staff at the receiption is very helpful. The rooms are nice and clean, no problems here. Why I took one star away is reason that the shampoo bottles/conditioner. These can only be opened, never closed and cause waste of resscources. The bar is fine and you can enjoy food and drinks, as you like. Breakfast buffet is terrific and I enjoyed typical turkish food in the morning. Coffee is a bit weak, but this is my personal taste. The hotel is is located on the asian side of Istanbul. So when you plan to be on this side, this hotel is for you. You save much time and do not need to cross the Bosporus bridge.
The hotel was located OK for my business meetings but really has nothing of interest around it. The heating was not working properly and the bar service was a little strange. However, the food both in the bar and at breakfast was very good. The breakfast buffet is one of the most diverse I have seen. All staff very helpful and the room was very nice.
Modern and big business hotel, nice and huge room and bathroom, almost new, breakfast very good and with a lot of different choices. Perfect for business in the nearby and not expensive, anyway far away from historical city centre.
Stayed at this hotel twice. Reception staff are helpful and all very kind. The only problem is the room wasn't really cleaned properly, or the basic stuff not replaced i.e sugar, coffee and water! Will give it another go and hopefully this time our overall experience will be 5*
It's a good location for business. The service is good, principally a guy called Yunus who makes your stay in mercure a really great experience. Yunus should be best employee of Mercure's hotels worldwide.
Being a tourist and first time here, I was not sure where to get an Istanbulkart as they are not sold at bus stop. On arrival at the hotel, I asked the reception where I can get one, I was immediately offered one by them. Was told it would cost 50TL with 10TL credit. I got one thinking it would cost this much. Found out a few days later, the card without credit actually only cost 6TL and can be bought at Altunizade Metrobus station. 34TL is not the end of the world but I believe honesty is the key to success in any business and I was felt being cheated by this incident. The Metrobus station is only 10 minutes walk, and I would have hoped the hotel can be honest to guide me there, rather than money making opportunity. Other than that the stay was excellent. Room was clean, big and comfortable. They got us a lovely room with a balcony on the top floor which I requested during booking. Yes it's far away from the European side. A new metro line will open later. But until then you have to take a bus to Uskudar station then take either the Marmaray or a ferry to the other side. You can also take a bus to Kadikoy then a ferry. Or you can get a Metrobus to Sisli and Taksim area. One great thing staying on this side is that you feel you are a local resident, you will see the bustling markets at Kadikoy and Uskudar. There's a shopping mall "Capitol" close by with a supermarket inside "Migros". And "Bizim" supermarket around the corner of the hotel.
During my stay for a week, I found that the room was large and comfortable enough. Indeed the hotel is quite modern and recent. I was however disappointed to notice that despite many requests to receive a non smoking room, I was attributed a smoking room with a strong smoke smell. The hotel also advertises a spa : the swimming pool is nice, but the Turkish bath were empty and shut down every time in the evening and in the morning, my friend and myself tried to access it. None of the staff could explain why, because this was within the opening hours. A disappointment. I found that the buffet breakfast was just average with nothing special, and rather poor coffee quality at the self service machine.
