I was a bit skeptical of the hotel from the reviews but this was listed on the Turkish Airlines Web site and I took the risk. Now the scary part starts. I booked the hotel directly from the hotel web site and also paid extra for the two way transfer. One way transfer is free. When requested for the pick up details, I was asked to pay extra. Mr. Mehtap Yildirim was exasperating to deal with. It took a number of emails to get it sorted out. The pick up cab driver had one more set of passengers. Instead of first going to Grand Yavuz which as 800 m from the turn, he chose to go to the other hotel. He had no idea of the location of the hotel and took 35 minutes to come back to the same spot and get to Grand Yavuz. The room, linen and toilet were all good. No complaints on that. The buffet breakfast is very simple but enough to keep you alive.
Located ideally and surrounded by eateries with local and western cuisines. Walking distance to the entrance of the Grand Bazaar and you can shop till you drop. Rooms were exceptionally big with nice decor. Breakfast could be improved to be more variety laid. Very pleasant service staffs who go out of the way to enlighten you when you ask for directions and places of interest. Had a great 2 nights stay and will definitely be my choice of hotel when I am next in Istanbul.
The hotel was part of our air tickets and the stay over was just perfect. In the old city and with in walking distance of all major tourist sites we had a wonderful day here. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room for the three of us was perfect everything we need was in the room. We checked in early no problems. Thank you for a great stay and a good day experience of Istanbul
Bad location, few restaurants and saloon nearby but over all not up to mark! The guy who check us in was abrupt, the room was dirty an unkept for our stay.. rooms were small, they tried to give us another room but it was no good , had to get our mattress changed since it sloped .. ok for a night stay on the go.. no pool . No view breakfast was mediocre ..
First of all, I would like to start with the fact that the hotel's location is great! It is located in Fatih neighborhood, which is part of the old town of Istanbul. Almost all of the architectural landmarks (Blue Mosque, Serpentine Pillar, Basilica Cisterns, Aya Sofya, Topkapi Palace, and more) are in a walking distance (5km at most), which is great if you don't want to be part of the traffic in the city. If you get there by car, you have the option to use their free parking, which is really great because it is really hard to find parking in the city. Second, the hotel by itself was great: everything inside looked new and clean. The rooms were not that big, but the lobby and top floor restaurant were really good. You had free Wi-Fi everywhere in the hotel, and the staff was really friendly and helpful. Third, which I consider a huge plus, is the fact that the staff spoke English (you may consider that funny, but most of the population didn't, which is really frustrating when you try to buy or find something). Probably the only minus is the breakfast. We stayed there for five days, and every day the breakfast was the same, and wasn't that tasty. In conclusion, it is a great place to stay if you want to explore the old part of the city. The neighbourhood is relatively cheap compared to the other parts of the city (except for the Grand Bazaar - do not buy anything from there). And you can have a really great time there! This nicely decorated hotel is my priority choice whenever I come to Istanbul. Centrally located in the heart of Sultan Ahmet district, many attractions like the blue mosque, Grand Bazaar,Hagia Sophia and Topkapi palace are within walking distance. There are cafes, shops, tailors and shoemakers close by. The old part of Sultan Ahmet has its own charms, albeit somewhat dilapidated. The hotel offers complimentary breakfast from a sizeable buffet, fast and reliable WiFi is also free to guests. There is a cozy rooftop restaurant offering nice views over city and Marmara sea with Princess Islands. Apart from conference facilities there is also a Spa and wellness center where you can relax body and mind with a massage and Turkish steam bath. Very recommendable and at a fair price (43 € for single room per night) definitely a bargain. Important tip: With a taxi costing not more than appr. 12 € from the Attatürk airport, there is not much point pre-booking the shuttle service at twice that price
I had a great experience there. The breakfast was delicious, service is excellent, but the location is on a top of hill and a little bit away of everything so it was hard to go up and down everyday but if you are a solo visitor then I suggest to you because of the price comparing to the service and amenities.
I stayed at the Grand Yavuz for a couple of nights last week during my sightseeing trip to Istanbul. First and foremost thing to highlight is the location. It is located in old town Istanbul where streets are paved with stone and are narrow, hilly and winding but it is walking distance from almost all the famous landmarks and tourist destinations. It is located at a 10 minute walk from the Blue mosque and Hagiya Sofiya. Add another couple of minutes to get to Top Kapi museum. And only 7 minutes walk from the Grand Bazaar. If you don't mind walking you can also walk to Taksim square but it will take about an hour or more to get there on foot. You can also walk to where cruises are launched for sightseeing tours within 15 or 20 minutes. The hotel runs shuttle services from the airport and it takes about 20 minutes to get to the hotel. Coming back to the amenities, the hotel's main lobby is well appointed. It has a little gift shop and a bar/lounge. You can go one level down to the spacious dining area where they offer a very good continental breakfast. Also on the same level is a gym. This hotel is surrounded by dozens of cafes, restaurants and stores where you can experience local cuisine. The prices are reasonable and the selection is huge. The rooms, if you are used to hotels in US, are going to feel small. However they were comfortable and clean. One thing to notice is that the bathroom doors cannot be locked from inside or outside and are made of frosted glass. So if you are traveling with little kids or forgetful people, be ready to be surprised when taking care of business in the restrooms :-). The staff is very courteous and speaks multiple languages. The porters are very efficient and will carry your luggage to your room or limo/taxi quickly. The elevators are however very small and feel claustrophobic. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel for tourists who would like to stay at a hotel close to the historical sites in Istanbul.
Good location. Every things on walking distance.many shops, bars, restaurant, are very near.you can walk up to midnight no problem.if u want taxi told on reception,it is less than road fears.room service excellent. Towels contain hole.no kettle. Lift are slow.
Our stay was for 4 nights here. Place is great with scenic view of the sea as well as Sultanahmet, a touristic town of Istanbul. Buffet breakfast have a variety, its spa, restaurant and bar... everything is amazing, apart from the fact that it is located at walking distance from major attractions of the area.
