The Intercontinental Hotel is very nicely Located with in a 10 min walk from Taksim square. if you wish you to visit any sights from here...its easy as the metro station is right there and so are cabs easily available. Istikal street is a 10 min walk which is a must see. The old city is a 15-20 min cab drive away. Service was decent however not exceptional. It was busy during new years. The restaurant staff was brilliant in the morning. The breakfast was such a wide spread. we had a city view of Taksim square on the 14th floor. It was super ! choose higher floors for the view. Room cleaning would be done when we went for breakfast.Even after informing the housekeeping to clean the room after 2 hours she still did it.Maybe she did not understand. Rooms had a few flaws-we stayed in Room 1418 and the bathroom door did not lock at all.The electric socket of the big Lamp was loose. The tea cups had lipstick stains on the first day we arrived. Christmas decorations were removed on the 2nd of Jan itself. The hotel i think can do much better. However i can just sum up and say ...Our stay was decent here and we were happy customers.

The hotel is average for an intercontinental, with good views, and is in a touristy area (popular but not the cheapest or most authentic). However, on my last booking, I had to cancel about 2 weeks out because I couldn't get a visa because of the dispute between the U.S. and Turkey. It was a prepaid rate, so the hotel could legally keep my money. And they did keep it (even the taxes). Meanwhile, other travel providers (airlines, hotels, tour companies) were more honest and offered full refunds.

We stayed at the hotel during the New Years Eve period. We had the NYE dinner at Sky Lights, which looks great. The food was good. The drinks not so good, they offered only local alcoholic drinks. Next day we had breakfast which was good but expensive. The room is big and clean but the furniture is really old. Also in the bathroom it was really cold. We turned the central heating (from the bedroom) to the max but in the bathroom it was still very cold. Another problem for us was the location. There is not much to do in the neighborhood. At least for a young couple. Only a few restaurants or bars and the general atmosphere was not vey lively.

Stay Report - 12/26 - 12/28 Location: The hotel is located about two blocks from Taksim Square and its Metro and Funicular stop in an area with the Grand Hyatt Istanbul as well. You can also walk to a number of really good restaurants and bars from the hotel as the Taksim Area has great nightlife and it's right nearby. The airport is 45-60 minutes away depending on traffic and a cab costs about 80 Turkish Lira. The area around the hotel feels very safe and there's also a major bus stop just behind the hotel. Hotel: It's definitely an older IC property but it's aging well. There's a large lobby that's in incredible condition which has a bar and a restaurant, an indoor pool, massage area and spa and on the top (22nd floor) another restaurant and bar. There's also a lot of meeting space and even an on site rental car facility. Be aware that due to security concerns all vehicles entering the hotel grounds are checked and there's a metal detector inside the doors that guests have to go through every time. Check In: I had a Club Rate and was invited to go up to the Lounge on the 16th Floor to be checked in. This was a really nice touch and was handled very well by the staff. In fact, I cannot say enough nice things about the staff here. Every single one of them learned my name and used it each time they saw me. I was told I was being upgraded to a Sea View from a City View room and was also granted a 3 PM check out my last day (I have no RA status, just IHG Platinum). Room: A little on the dated side but not in the bad way. There was a large bed and pleasant sitting area as well as a work desk and a great view of the Bosphorus and Taksim Square. The TV however was really tiny but I did like that it came with a DVD player. The bathroom was always quite nice. There were very nice touches from the hotel staff, they cleaned my room my day of check out despite the fact that I was leaving, they carefully arranged anything I had left out while cleaning such as my toiletries and dirty laundry and they offered turn down service each night. They also brought me a welcome amenity of fruit and chocolate. Lounge: It's on the 16th floor with a view of the sea. Open for breakfast from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM and then for cocktails and appetizers from 5 to 7 PM. The lounge stays open until 10 PM for coffee, tea and soft drinks and juices. At breakfast they had eggs, sausage, potatoes, a rice dish, and a large selection of cereal, breads, cold cuts, salmon, yogurt and fruit. For appetizers they also had cheese, fruit, crackers, breads and a few hot dishes. My club rate was 140 Euros per night. While the hotel is a little dated, I cannot say enough nice things about the service. I'd be glad to come back.

Great property with great service in a prime location. Conveniently located close to Taksim square with access to he subway and the metro line if you want to avoid the chaotic drive in the city. Great view onto the Bosphorus. The staff is friendly and helpful despite what some of my other colleagues have experienced at times, all my stays have been pleasant and the processes of checking in and out have been smooth

We stayed here for one week and love the proximity of the hotel which is close to istiklal and Besiktas, the staff was wonderful and Mr Ali the Chef concierge was very very wonderful! His team from The doorman to the bellman were absolutely fantastic! We had our Daughter who was sick and he recommended us to go to the American hospital which was nearby, his service and dedication was truly professional. Fortunately my daughter was feeling better after visiting the hospital. The facilities in this hotel is really TOP notch the rooms are bit old but with the kind of service we had it's truly a memorable experience!

The hotel is really good, software and hardware are good. Location is particularly good, very close to the TAKSIM Metro and Plaza, Commercial Street. Breakfast is particularly good, there are some local features. Meeting rooms and conference services are particularly good, especially suitable for meeting here. The only small suggestion is that you can change the lamp with a USB charging port and change the iron with the automatic spray function.

Located near the main square and the Besiktas stadium, it is central and has shops and restaurants close by. The hotel bar offers a unique view over the Bosphorus canal and Istanbul's old and new. The breakfast is superb

Unfortunately this is not the standard of Intercontinental hotels. The design of the room is ridiculous. When you open the door to get in, a wall in your face !!!! The sealing in the corridor is very low giving you a feeding of tightness. The bathroom is small. The furniture is old. However I must say that the location is excellent. Room dining is good. The food is average. Honestly, I would never recommend this hotel for anyone. There are better options in the neighborhood.

Wonderful hotel with all the services you can think of. The reception is very friendly. There is several restaurants available. One on the top floor with a nice view of the city. Adjacent to it a bar with live music. One thing, there is some security protocols that you may find inconvenient but normal for Istanbul. We had a very nice stay.
