I’ve been in Holbox four times, three of which have been for environmental purposes working together with the local authorities. This is where they’ve set us up. The hotel is located right across City Hall, the open air auditorium, and everything you need is walking distance. The hotel is modest, but the staff is always friendly and the rooms are clean and have everything you need to enjoy a comfortable stay.

This is a minimalist kind of place but how else could you stay in holbox for this price? The room was clean, and having my own little sitting porch (each of the downstairs rooms has this) made it feel like home. The staff were lovely.
The hotel is small but right in the middle of town. We arrived around noon from the ferry and were able to check in right away. Definitely a bare bones place but if all you need is a bed and a base to explore from this hotel will do the trick. The beds were firm and the sheets thinner. There was no blanket provided with the room. There was a small closet and a wall mounted tv also. The washroom was outdated but the shower had water pressure and hot water. Each of the rooms on the lower floors has its own furnished patio which was nice. The wifi signal doesn't reach all the rooms so you may have to move closer to the office to get connected. They were also able to store our bags for us until later in the afternoon.
Room do have a good size and was clean and they clean it every day. Unfortunately, there was no toilet seat (bowl was there). The staff can be more friendly but the rest of the service i am very satisfied with this price we paid.
We booked this hotel several weeks before arriving and the night before, my boyfriend and I checked out some of the reviews and after reading them on here, we were dreading arriving for 4 nights! However... we checked in early, the room was clean, spacious, with a double bed and a single bed, ceiling fan, tv, and an AC unit that we could control, unlike most places. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the room was cleaned every day along with new towels and free soaps. Staff don't speak much English but we're helpful enough. If you want a fancy hotel this may not be the place for you but if you're a backpacker budget, this is absolutely fine. We've stayed in worse.. and Los Arcos did the job, we had a good stay.
This was perhaps the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. I do not use "worst" lightly. The rooms are bare, the walls are cracking and the paint is peeling. The bathroom sink was falling apart and the shower curtain was missing in a super tiny bathroom. The screen door was missing most of it's screen and the air conditioner was old, filthy and couldn't even cool down the very small room we were in. Both mattresses were old and thin and the pillows were hard. The sheets were threadbare and mine had what appeared to be cigarette holes burned through it. The headboard had these decorative wood pieces that would turn and sounded like a goose being choked to death every time I turned over. We couldn't sleep at all because of the kids partying in the rooms around us and sitting in the table right in front of our room. I asked politely for them to keep it down (at 2am) but they were drunk and either didn't understand or didn't care. The reception lobby was closed, so there was no one to talk to about that. The curtains were so thin that you could see right into the room and we felt like we were in a fishbowl. The 3 or 4 channels on TV (since we weren't going to get any sleep until the frat house passed out) were barely watchable. When dawn finally broke we all decided to just leave the hotel even though we had paid for another night. As soon as we could check in to other place, we fled. It sucked that bad that I wouldn't even take the time to complain or ask for a refund. Thank God this place was inexpensive. About the only good thing this hotel has going for it is it's central location and there was wifi for me to find another hotel to stay in the next night.
This hotel is conveniently located in the center of the town, and only 2 blocks away from the beach. It is old but clean, yet apart from the cleaning ladies the staff was not especially nice. Wifi may not work from your room but you will be only a couple of steps away from it. Really appreciated the AC!
Our room was a bit worn out, but really the whole building looks like it needs a little bit of maintenance. It's a little overpriced for what it is, however it is in a great location only steps from the beach and restaurants. For the use we made of it we enjoyed it.
Our room was really worn out and simple. The shower didnt work properly and there was a cockroach. All the towels and sheets were really worn out. The ac didnt work at all and the ceiling fan looked like it would come down any minute. There wasnt anyone in the reception when we came there and we had to wait for someone to show up. We saw this happening to other people too when we passed the reception. When there was someone they didnt speak any english at all. The worst was that in the middle of the night there were really noisy people hanging out in the garden who clearly didnt care at all that there were customers trying to sleep. The room was ok clean and the location was good, but in a village so small than holbox theres hardly a bad location. We werent expecting anything fancy but at least it would have been nice to sleep.
