Good location, friendly and helpful staff, hotel a little dated though and the wifi doesn't work very well in the room
I'm a pretty tough critic and I would still rate this a strong 4 stars. Staff was very friendly, spoke Spanish, Portuguese and English (very helpfull#. On-site excursion booking. Breakfast was great! Dinner was great and very reasonable. Pool was very refreshing. Close to the best side of the falls #Brazil was nice but Argentina has my vote!). The only advice I can give to people giving negative reviews about this hotel would be...immurse yourself in the local culture, if you want everything just as it is at home...STAY HOME. I can't say enough good things about our stay here. If we were to go back to Iguazu we would certainly stay here again.
Hotel is aging, but room was HUGE and very comfortable - especially for the price. Large pool with small water slide and lots of sun lounge area. Breakfast was very good. Hotel is very kid friendly - room had separate small bedroom for kids (very plain with mattress on floor).
The hotel experience was great. We enjoyed our stay here. They had a spa, a pool (very chilly), a game room, and a mini golf course. It was a fun place. Our room had a great air conditioner, the TV worked and we had lots of channels. The beds were very comfortable, and the whole hotel was very clean. The refrigerator was noisy. It caused us some embarrassment when we found a refrigerator full of stuff. We had never seen the frig stocked by the hotel before, and we thought that the previous occupant must have left it by accident. Being thirsty, we sampled the bottled water in the frig, and later found the notice that the it was stocked by the hotel for our convenience so we could buy the refreshment. OOPS!
nice enjoyable reccomendable!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
staff so friendly and helpful. Nice food and beautiful rooms and amenities!!
I stayed with this hotel in August 2012 and greatly regret it. My room was not clean with no hand towel, no wash towel, and no bath mat. I had hard time communicate with hotel staff in English.
We were told this Hotel is a 5 Star Hotel. Upon arrival it was apparent that this was no where close to a 5 Star rating. Beds, sheets, pillows, carpet, etc.... all dirty, old and down right scary. The price on the Hotel was highway robbery. The only benefit is that it was close to Iguazu Falls. I would not recommend this to anyone.... however I don't know if any of the other Hotels in that area are any better.
WE liked the hotel because the staff was friendly, the room was large, the breakfast great and location good. The building has seen better times;needs some maintenance. Overall a great value for money, I would recommend everyone to stay there.
the hotel not comfortabely located. the room and the bath is too small. the bublic areas are very nice inc. the dineing room
Staff very friendly and helpful. Helped with confirming airline reservations and securing zipline / jungle tour adventure. Breakfast buffet had a lot of variety and was good. Restaurant was just ok for dinner. Hotel offers driver services to anywhere you want to go: (Iguazu Park, mines, etc.) However, compared to local bus and taxis, this driver service is quite expensive. The local bus service is just fine and stops in front of the hotel. The price is a good value.
This is a great hotel in a beautiful setting. The hotel is located outside of the town of Puerto Iguazu on the road to Iguazu Falls. You can book a tour to the falls or the local bus will pick you up right in front of the hotel and take you to the falls for about $4.00 each way. The breakfast buffet was included in the price and the food was great.
Good Hotel and Breakfast. Dinner a bit expensive. Large, Clean Room
This place needs a renovation. It is very old and feels and looks it. Furniture in the lobby is dirty and worn, the rooms are dank and dumpy, very little English is spoken by the staff, the food was only passable, and the price we paid was not worth it. Staff was very unhelpful on suggestions about getting to the falls. Warning: there is a Hotel Cataratas IN the park, which is what I thought I was booking, but that is on the Brazilian side.
used the hotel as a jumping off to iguazu falls. very convenient.staff friendly and very helpful. outdoor pool great.
Local bus stop within walking distance, but hotel staff neglected to tell us when the buses stop there. You need a cab or bus to get to downtown. There are no restaurants or markets near the hotel other than the hotel restaurant. The service at this hotel was average, but the room was clean and quiet. If I were to return I'd prefer to stay within walking distance to downtown.
I didn't come to Iguazu to stay at a fancy hotel, so wasn't expecting the world when coming to this hotel. The hotel does NOT, as the short description suggests, have a spectactular view of the falls - it is 15 KM or so away from the park in the town of Iguazu. There was an old hotel with the same name in the park that I assume the description came from, but it has been shut down (now functions as a first aid station). If you are looking to stay in the park, there is the Sheraton on the Argentine side. But if you are looking to economize, the Hotel Cataratas is just fine. Rooms were good, but air conditioning was broken in our room. Perhaps I could have gotten another room, but it was a minor nuisance to me so didn't make an issue of it. They offer a buffet dinner that is not too cheap, but has a pretty good offering. Personally I would have preferred a menu offering. The staff was helpful and friendly, and that makes up for some shortfalls. I would stay here again if I were to find myself in Iguazu, and would recommend the place to friends if they were looking to economize...otherwise I would suggest staying in the park at the Sheraton, but I can only imagine what that would cost.
Hotel was probably very nice 30 years ago. Today, it is very adequate, with an excellent value for the price per night, for a 1-2 day visit of the Iguazu Falls. The room was fine, not perfect, but adequate. Breakfast was OK. The pool area and spa was excellent. They have an excellent room where you can lay down, drink tea and relax.
Near waterfalls. Great hotel and good location.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Accomodations were excellent and breakfast was extremely good with several options and great service.
