Where to start? We arrive on Saturday, to be told the elevators were out of order due to a power issue the day before, with repairs not possible until at least Tuesday (day after Christmas – and they were repaired on Tuesday). They had us booked in a 2nd floor room, and we had several large (50 pounds +) bags – not very good for taking up stairs. Luckily, while we were waiting, someone called and cancelled and they were able to put us in a 1st floor room – one suggestion – DO NOT get a room at the end of the halls next to the stairs – very noisy. I asked the service staff for new towels on Monday (Christmas) and they said they did not have any. Leaving the question – were they putting the old towels back on the rack for reuse???? Don’t know if they happened to get new/fresh towels later in the day. On Tuesday morning, around 4 a.m., I walked out the front door to check the weather. The door would not open when I tried to come back inside. Tried using my key card for access, but no luck. Rang the bell a few times and waited a couple of minutes with no one showing up. Had to walk around the hotel to another entrance and enter with my key card. Otherwise, Jay (front counter) was very helpful getting us a bottom floor room and making us happy in that regards. Other than a few cosmetic/maintenance items that should be corrected in the rooms, it’s a basic Holiday Inn Express property. My one suggestion to the property owners – this is not the first issue with the elevators, requiring an outage of several days (read other reviews). You should get into a contract with a service provider that would guarantee service/repairs immediately, even over a holiday weekend. Based on these issues, and other hotels in the immediate area, I will probably consider staying elsewhere if I need to return to the area.
We stayed and had a wonderful experience. The staff was so nice and the room was roomy and clean. They were friendly and helpful at all points of stay. Except Breakfast had things run out like pancakes and the cinnamon rolls.
We needed to find a hotel close to a quince we were attending on the weekend. This one had the best reviews in the area and we were not disappointed. It was clean and in a decent location. Only thing is that there is a lot of construction on 290 but we took a lot of back roads to get around it. The beds were comfortable and it had some good amenities like the Keurig in the room. Breakfast was not too shabby and the ladies were working crazy to keep fresh food out.
I can honestly say staying here has been an enjoyable and comfortable experience. It's clean, luxurious, and the staff are great! Being on a budget, I felt we didn't belong but the staff treated us like any other. I had an attitude about my reservation not going thru but JAY stayed professional and went out her way to accommodate me even though she probably was mad but never showe'd it. We ended up being cool. The GM also made me feel comfortable so I definitely recommend you to check in #zen
We stayed for a week near our youngest son and his family. Great staff and clean hotel. Our only complaint was no QVC on the cable channel. Hotel location is near many sites. Price is okay. Bacon is served only on the weekends.
Though the property had the basics covered, noise and general upkeep were sub-par at this location. 1. Power - In my 3 night stay, the power went out for hours on 2 separate occasions. One was weather related, one related to a nearby transformer. These occurrences were outside the control of the hotel. However, both of the property’s elevators were knocked out overnight, after the power was restored. One of the two remained out of service even longer. Definitely a nuisance to guests. Management tucked a note under our doors to apologize for the inconvenience, though offered no other remediation, not even some token points in the IHG rewards program. 2. Noise - Though the hotel is set back from the freeway, road noise can be heard 24x7. Hallway conversations, doors opening and closing, and water flowing through the plumbing when folks in neighboring rooms were showering was all too easy to hear. 3. Pool & Hot Tub - The outdoor pool area is drab, but more importantly, the pool had lots of leaves in it. Not enticing to swim in. Worse, the hot tub had leaves, a cigarette butt, and cold water.
Construction in the area makes it hard to get in and out of. Big trucks are parked on the street and you can't see around them to pull out. Overall it was an average stay. Air conditioner worked great, breakfast was the normal items for Holiday Inn Express. Hotel was clean. I never saw anyone at the front desk other than when checking in. My room was not ready upon arrival and I did not arrive until after 4pm. The location does have lots of restaurants around so it is convenient and probably pretty safe since the FBI complex is right next door.
I do business in this area of Houston often, and am always on the lookout for a hotel that is consistent, clean, and affordable. I have found it in this little gem. The lobby is well appointed and welcoming. The front desk staff is efficient and friendly; ready to get you to where you are going-either checkin or checkout! Room was clean and sleep quality was good. It seems that the staff actually maintains the property! :) Fitness center was average, but above average in cleanliness. The machines didn't even squeak relentlessly! Breakfast was fine. There was a choice of some healthier options (and lots of breakfast comfort food choices, as well). Will be happy to return!
This is a new looking property, well lit and great breakfast. We stayed after Harvey and saw the devastation every day. When we turned that corner and knew they had a clean room with every thing we need for us, it felt like home.
I'm a little late writing this review as it has taken some time to get back to "normal". My family and I checked into this hotel on 8/26 at midnight, as Hurricane Harvey was laying its distruction upon our city. We were welcomed, with open arms, by Brittany and Danya. I can not even begin to explain how caring and helpful these two ladies were. They went above and beyond to provide the best service for my family and all the other families that were looking for refuge from the storm. These 2 ladies professionalism did not change even as they stayed at the hotel through the storm with us. They provided us a warm breakfast every morning, even trying to make sure there was something for us to eat in the evening while everything around us was flooded or closed. I truly felt like family here and it made my family's first hurricane as comfortable as possible. We left on Tuesday 8/30. I just want Brittany and Danya to know how truly appreciative I am of all they did for us, I'm a talker, especially when I'm nervous or scared and they never treated me like I was bothering them. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you did for us. I hope management knows how amazing you ladies are!! The hotel itself is in a very nice spot, very pretty and well taken care of inside and out and even though it was feeling the strains of the massive amounts of rain, it was more than comfortable and I'm very glad this was the hotel we chose.
