Very well kept room, clean, and good basic amenities... the location can't be beat! If you are a light sleeper be sure to bring earplugs; the walls are thin and the locals like make a ruckus at all hours of the night. Be sure to eat at Paul's Place on the bottom floor.

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Hilo **Hilo Town Inn** is the perfect example of why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. While the exterior is unassuming, the rooms are squeaky clean and thoughtfully equipped with everything you need to feel right at home. It is clear that a lot of care goes into maintaining the space. The location is unbeatable for exploring the east side of the Big Island. Being right in the center of town, we were within walking distance of local restaurants and stores. It also served as an ideal home base for our trips to Volcanoes National Park and Akaka Falls. Plus, the proximity to Hilo Airport made our travel logistics incredibly easy. If you're looking for a comfortable, spotless, and central spot to stay, this is it!

Cute place in great location

We had a little hiccup with the email providing the check-in info, but once we called it was quickly resolved. The room has been redecorated nicely, with a super comfy bed and cold A/C. Right next to the farmers market, and a short walk to downtown Hilo. Would definitely stay again.

Don't be deceived by the exterior of the building. Once you enter the front door with the provided code it's very nice and inviting. Our room was clean and comfortable. Nicely furnished. Compact but all our needs were supplied. Good coffee. Nice thick towels. Good air conditioning and a ceiling fan. Convenient location downtown Hilo. Neighborhood felt a little iffy with a few homeless people outside. Parking lot in the rear was not paved. Should we return to Hilo again we would stay there and recommend it to our friends.

Room was spacious and thoughtfully appointed. Central location was convenient to bus station and farmers market. It did get a bit noisy at times with the close proximity to downtown, but the mynas were the loudest things around. Contactless checkin was smooth and easy. I loved my room! It was spacious and comfortable, perfect for my needs. This isn’t a modern hotel with tons of amenities, but I found it charming. There was a large bathtub that I enjoyed as well. There is no front desk, but that wasn’t a problem for me. I had text contact if I needed anything.

The interior of the property is nice but the exterior is Seriously in need of a face lift. Once we came inside we were pleasantly surprised. Also the area around it is rundown with many homeless on the street. I’ve been to Hilo before and that did not surprise me. Restaurants within walking distance so that’s a plus. Overall it was very good for what we needed for a one night stay.

Room looked clean and was very spacious the only thing for the lack in 5 star rating is the un-welcomed visitors, the cockroaches! Parking behind the building. A little dark but not a dangerous area. Big open market near by and lots of restaurant, coffee, and a few breakfast options ( note, we discovered @Subway did good breakfast options around the corner. Room was great, big, clean, no elevator but got good exercise carrying cases up the stairs. Never actually saw any staff, but the phone support was 10/10. Very good. Close to things we needed.. if you have a car. Idk uber. AC was perfect. Bed and coffee good. Bathroom... interesting to have a glass window to toilet but....lol Would recommend!

Really good location and very clean room. Only complaint is the windows are not well sealed so you can hear the traffic on the street. Also you can hear sounds from next door very clearly... The owner did provide earplugs but I feel it doesn't necessarily work for everybody.
