the property was loud, fake birds chirping loudly all night, dog would bark a lot, can hear people in adjoining rooms. Ear pods but can't sleep with anything in my ear. only received housekeeping 2x with 6 night stay. Towels smelled. AC was not well equipped for sleeping area. One last night there someone tried to get into room at 11pm by using pin code on door. Didn't feel safe there. Big gap under all rooms.

The property and the view were extraordinary. The room is tiny, but not really designed for guests too relaxing because there is a large community living room downstairs. I did ask some questions through email, but did not get a response from the owners know that we ever see them. I take that as a negative.

Comfortable, clean and convenient. It was a nice hilltop location with a great view. The economy room was cute and cozy. The living areas were enjoyable places to spend time. The walls were thin, but guests were respectful of the quiet hours.

We stayed one of the suites. This stay is literally at the top of the hill and you get 360 views of Hilo. unobstructed views of the ocean. Clean and full of amenities. The projector screen was awesome!

Love this little gem of a place. Have stayed here twice over the past year in two different rooms. The bed could use an upgrade, it was a little too soft and the pillows small. Besides that, it is thoughtfully stocked and wonderful grounds. The views are amazing!

We absolutely loved the location and the beautiful common areas at Hilltop Legacy — peaceful surroundings and stunning views! The host was very friendly and even took time to chat with us and share some great local recommendations. The bathroom didn’t have a vent, so it could get a bit musty after use, and we missed having a microwave and an iron. Also, if you’re a light sleeper, the hens cooing through the night might be a bit disruptive. Overall, a charming place with a lot of character and hospitality!

A very sweet, well-kept stately old property that exudes then charm of old Hilo. Check in was easy- note there are some fairly steep stairs leading up to the front door, as well as stairs within the house. I was very comfortable in my efficiency room, and especially appreciated the water, condensation, and diamond bakery cream crackers which were a much needed snack during my Merrie Monarch adventures! A great location and a comfortable place to stay for any Hilo vacation.

We stayed for one night in the Sky Room. The room has lovely views of the city, ocean, and inbound flights landing at the Hilo airport off in the distance. We chose this place due to price point, proximity to downtown and the in-room jet bathtub. Favorite things: location, pretty front yard, jet bathtub, and comfortable bed if you like a softer mattress top. Least favorite things: the door has a rather large 3 inch gap at the bottom; the shower is small with low water pressure; the walls are made of plywood; missing some items in the kitchenette to make the stay more comfortable such as dish towels, sponge, soap; pillows were a bit musty; no washcloths provided in the bathroom. One oddity: you must remove your shoes upon entry to the home and put on foam rubber slippers, which is okay except there is no clear way to indicate if/when the slippers were sanitized and the sizes provided are 2 sizes, both too small for someone with feet size 10 or above. Overall, this accommodation was fine and clean for one night but not comfortable for us for a longer stay. Be aware that they have a large dog who barks a lot. We managed even without using the earplugs the hosts provided. Apparently they have a bit of a conflict with the neighboring property about driveway space that requires some fiddly logistics about parking.

We loved loved this property. It was clean, loved the fact they offered house slippers as well as outside slippers. We spent more time out on our full beautiful balcony more than in room. Beautiful landscaping. You can tell they take pride in the rental home. It’s was quiet and laid back for my husband and I. Maid service was awesome. We stayed on that side of island cuz it was my local, and just drove to tourist areas when we wanted to do stuff. Zoo was free and gorgeous, rainbow falls was free and beautiful. Checked out many beaches. Overall everything was wonderful. Even tried to eat mostly authentic local foods. Island breeze luau was a rip off don’t recommend. But it’s a must stay. Beautiful view of Hilo Bay. Breathtaking sunrises. Beautiful building, indoor furnishings and exterior. So conveniently located in town, on a hill. Thoughtful amenities: mini-refrigerator stocked with bottled water. Real glasses, mugs and spoon. Privacy. My second time to use this same room in less than 10 years. Suggested improvements: In this particular room, would've liked to know it takes considerable time for the hot water to come on in the shower. A moveable shower head would be nice so the water doesn't leak out onto the floor when the shower door is opened, to check the water intermittently, until it is fully heated.
