We returned to this property after 12 years when we stayed there for our honeymoon. The new ownership under SCP have made wonderful updates. Pool was a big hit with our 10 year old. Recommend interior pool side room so less street noise or the quiet garden wing.

My new hotel of choice. Staff friendly, helpful - treat and greet you as family. Quiet with the few planes from nearby airport. Views beautiful. Numerous food options nearby. Not a hotel, but a very noisy motel
Very disappointed and could not understand the overwhelming positive reviews. Yes, friendly staff, clean room and recent bedding, but what else? It is advertised as an hotel and resort (with the daily fees that go with it) but it’s just an old motel renovated. The soundproofing is non existant, you will hear your neighbors and everything that happens outside. AC is noisy, and it’s not a normal windows… If you want to see something you have to open it (and hear everything). The room was very sad and dark as you can see nothing if you close the windows… Stop advertising this as an hotel, and price it like a motel. It was more expensive than all the other properties I visited during my stay in Hawaii, and it was the only one that did not met the expectations. To be fair, they offered me a discount at checkout after hearing my feedback, which is nice! But you should be aware of what you booked if you consider this property, and don’t expect much.

The old Hilo Seaside Hotel on the corner of Kalanianaole Highway and Banyan Drive, across Reed's Bay prime location central to Hilo staples like Ken's and The Ponds Restaurants. The hotel itself consists of buildings with a central tropical courtyard or the swimming pool. Small gym, bikes to borrow, a mediation and common area. The room was clean and cozy. Much effort made in reducing carbon footprint by having the ability to open windows instead of only air conditioning.

Such a welcoming boutique hotel with the open air feel of an old Hawaii resort. Lots of tropical gardens, wood featured walls and floors. Lovely pool and reception areas. Rooms are basic and not quiet but the open air features made it all worth it. Bed was sufficient. Very Clean. Beautiful bay views and coi pond to sit by. Easy walk to town and airport so close. Such attentive staff. I will totally stay here again.
