Oceanfront views, clean and comfortable rooms, delicious breakfast, lovely hosts and well located (not a long drive from the main attractions) - what more could you want? We’d stay here again. Hilo is a relaxed and interesting town and recommended for those who want to get away from the resort style on the Kona side.

Stayed here for two nights as a base location to go into Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The room was very nice with a beautiful view of the water. The waves are loud but soothing. The hosts are so friendly and breakfast was delicious. Would recommend staying here if you are looking to explore this side of the island and the park.

We spent 3 nights at the Hilo Bay Oceanfront Bed & Breakfast. Cheryl & Everell were very friendly & greeted us each morning with a wonderful breakfast. The property is located in a convenient location very close to the ocean. The sound of the crashing waves was so peaceful to wake up to each morning. Cheryl & Everell provided us with snacks when we ventured out on excursions. The town was a 10-15 minute walk from the property so we didn't even need to drive when we went out for dinner. I would recommend this beautifully restored 1922 home for a relaxing time in Hilo!

We spent four nights at this beautifully restored heritage house. The room and communal areas were spotless and furnished with period furniture. It was lovely to fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves and to watch the bay from the bedroom. We appreciated all the extra goodies provided by the hosts - very generous. This is a good base to explore the eastern side of the island. We would certainly stay here again.

We stayed three nights at this property, and loved it. It is near many East Side attractions, very close to Hilo's downtown, but in a private setting that allowed us to fall asleep to the waves each evening. We enjoyed awakening to a sunrise that brought surfers and standup paddlers to our front window, followed soon by a tasty breakfast highlighted by fruit from the owners' trees. We walked into town for dinner one night, which was easy and safe - about 10 minutes. The owners are re-settled Midwesterners who love Hawai'i and the lovely older home they have remodeled for guests such as us. Our one very small request would be to serve Kona or Ha'u coffee as an upscale treat, but we will definitely be back.

This is a home converted into a B and B type place. It sits right on the edge of a cliff which is cool. A friendly couple runs the place and lives there. They will serve you breakfast as you like it. The room we were in was OK, the walls a bit thin. You could probably walk to the main part of town but we chose to drive.

It was late in the evening so we decided to stay back in Hilo instead of driving back to Kona. Located on the sea shore, you can hear the waves roaring. The host was very friendly and helpful sharing all their travel tips and local knowledge. Everell was happy to drive us to see an opportunity for a hotel investment in Hilo the next day. Thank you Everell and Cheryl for taking care of us.

My husband and I spent four nights in the corner room and used Hilo as a base for exploring the east side of the island. Everell and Cheryl were wonderful hosts and we felt very much at home. They've done a great job renovating their home and it really gave us a taste of old Hawaii. Falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves right under the window is something we'll never forget. We highly recommend staying at the Hilo Bay Oceanfront B&B.

My husband and I spent 3 nights here in December of 2017. It was incredible. The Cherl and Everell were the most gracious and hosts. They truly made us feel like family in three short days. The rooms are beautiful and fresh. There was nothing better than falling asleep to and listening to the sounds of crashing waves with the cool breeze of the ocean drifting in through the windows. Adn when I say windows, I mean windows. The dining nook and rooms all have huge windows so the views are gorgeous from everywhere in the house! We were so grateful to find this gem and will definitely be back. It was also so easy to get to everywhere we wanted to go. The walk to the center of town took minutes.

My husband I and I spent 5 nights of our 15 night Big Island vacation at this charming B&B in Hilo. Proprietors Cheryl and Everell were wonderful hosts - they make you feel like family as soon as you walk into the house. Everell & Cheryl are very knowledgeable about the area so they will give you tips about places to visit, places to eat, vendor sponsored tours, etc. The B & B is right on the bay in downtown Hilo. We had the corner, oceanfront room so we went to sleep to the sound of the waves. The room was quite large and had a table and chairs by the window so we could enjoy the view of the bay. The B & B is convenient to downtown and it's a short drive to Volcanoes Nat'l Park and other natural wonders, waterfalls, etc.. The house has been restored with modern conveniences, but it still retains the 1920's plantation style charm. Breakfast is very good and made fresh - they definitely send you on your way each morning full and ready to enjoy the natural wonders of the area. Look no further than Hilo Bay Oceanfront Bed & Breakfast for accommodations if you are visiting Hilo!
