Very clean hotel, excellent breakfast and service! Quiet even though it’s in the center of Heraklion. Close proximity to everything worth seeing. Value for money, definitely worth staying there if you are visiting Heraklion.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely room which was cleaned every single day. Shower was nice and powerful. Bed very comfy as well. Breakfast was varied and plentiful. Excellent value for money and a great location. What more could you ask for! I would stay there again.
Excellent hotel in the city center, clean rooms, very good breakfast, very friendly staff and value for money. Within walking distance form the heraklion heard. Relative quiet for a city hotel. Offered more than expected. Great stay.
A very nice hotel with great design. The bed is king-sized with very good quality mattress. Very nice breakfast and close to the city center and to the port. If you are interested to rent a car there is a parking 2 minutes away from the hotel.
Stayed for one night at Kastro Hotel with my girlfriend before continuing on our trip to Rethymnon the next day. We checked in late, because our flight arrived at around 23:00, and we wanted to grab a bite to eat before turning in for sleep. This wasn't a problem at all. The room we got was spacious enough, spotless and modern. The bathroom had plenty of space, and the shower was nice after a long day's travel. A nice little bonus was the ironing board that was tucked away in the wardrobe. The next day, hotel staff was kind enough to allow us to leave our luggage at the hotel after checking out. We still had a few hours left before our bus would depart, so we were able enjoy Heraklion for a little bit without having to carry anything with us. The bustling Lion's Square - with its many restaurants, bars and shops - is just a 5 minute walk from the hotel, so the location is absolutely fabulous for a stopover.
Fairly average hotel, although very convenient for the centre of the old town. The receptionist was so-so, the bedroom a bit cramped, lots of hangers but the only drawers we could use were the ones in the desk and the bedside tables. The fridge was really frosted up, but it switched off when we took the card out of the electric slot, so defrosted itself, water everywhere! There was a lovely choice of teas and coffee. There were spotlights over the beds, but we couldn't work out how to make them work without putting on the strip lighting along the length of the room. Nice pillows, but there were memory foam mattress toppers, which I find too soft. No chairs or table on the balcony. No fan in the shower room, and I couldn't open the window. We arrived for breakfast an hour before they closed, and there were only soft white rolls and rusks left. The breakfast bar was badly organized, the plates were in the centre and the glasses weren't near the water and the juices. There was a beautiful rooftop sitting area, but no bar up there. And there was the weirdest ceiling display I've ever seen - photo attached.
We just stayed at the Kastro for one night as we were arriving in Heraklion late and preferred to pick up the hire car in the morning. We selected this hotel fairly randomly with few expectations but were very pleased with our choice. It's clean, modern and the room was well equipped and comfortable. Once we were checked in we headed up the lane in search of a drink and quickly found a lovely little locals' bar on the corner where we could chill out and get into our holiday. We then walked a tiny bit further and emerged on the main pedestrian street, much to our surprise. In other words the Kastro is quiet and peaceful but only 2 minutes from the city centre - perfect location. Breakfast was full of choice, we didn't know where to start. A great hotel and would happily stay 2 nights to explore Heraklion given a slightly longer holiday.
I am just staying for two nights, so what I concern most is the location. So this hotel is centrally located, and it's close to everything, all the shops is behind you, the bus station is just 10 mins away. The room is small but I am staying by myself which is fine, the design is a bit odd, it's kind of modern kind of old school. But the toilet is better than expect, it's new and modern. The breakfast is normal but if you go down later than 9:30, you may end up with bread only. Egg and sausage or any hot food run out real quick and it's so busy. So if you just looking for somewhere to have good night sleep and your budget is tight, here is your choice.
Really happy with this hotel. It is close to everything, very clean and great value! The staff is polite and professional. Rooms are nicely decorated and have tea and coffee facilities. It was my second time in hotel Castro and I plan to return.
Walking distance to cafes and restaurants, hop on hop off bus, museums, fort. Rooms suprisingly large for Greek standards Clean good sized ensuite quaint balcony. Tea and coffee facilities and bar fridge in room. Airconditioned. Resonably priced including very good breakfast, lots of variety. Very freindly, helpful staff. 15 UERO by cab from airport.
