The hotel is well located if you want to spend some time at Heraklion as it is in the city centre. The staff of the hotel at the reception were very welcoming and friendly. The restaurant a la carte provided good food at a fair price. The room was a bit small but for there is nothing to say for the price. I would recommend this hotel as one of the best quality/price in city.

Stayed in room 235. Booked a double to turm up to two singles pushed together, air con wasnt very good, batteries in tv remote didnt work, water just about triccled out of bathroom tap, fridge wasnt very cold despite me turning it up to high Spent some time at the pool and despite buying lunch and drinks there all day the girl working tge bar wouldnt allow my wife to change her towel for a fresh one. The decking needs replacing, make sure u where foot wear as its easy to get a splinter, there was a note on the wall which was pointed out to us once my wife got a splinter. We had drinks downstairs before heading out and the staff are not very attentive when ut came to making sure we needed more drinks or paying the bill

We stayed here for two nights, and were very satisfied. For the price, the hotel was excellent. It is located on a busy square, within walking distance to most of the sites you would want to see in the city. It is literally next door to the Archeological Museum, which is a MUST SEE. There are many excellent restaurants within walking distance, especially Vranas, which you should not miss if you want a genuine Cretan experience with great food. If you stay here, ask for a room facing the sea, not because you can see much of the sea (a sliver), but because it is the side away from the busy, noisy square. Breakfast was excellent, with many choices. The TV channel selection was meager and inadequate--this needs to be improved. Wifi was spotty, although we had a room at the end of the hall, which my have been a factor. We sent laundry out, and got it back in less than 24 hours. The people at the front desk we helpful and nice. All in all, a very satisfactory stay. We gave it four stars, but four and a half would be fairer. .

We spent two nights at this location. The location for this hotel is really good. There are tons of restaurants close to the hotel. The taste is good and price is cheap. You can walk around the hotel for shopping. The public transport can take you to everywhere you want. The taste is good and price is cheap. The hotel room is really small and the washroom only can fit one person inside. We have three people in one room. The hotel only offers one door key. The hotel staff is nice and friendly. Overview, the hotel location is good but room size is really small and the bed is small. It is ok for single traveller to stay. Because of the small size of the hotel room, I only rate this hotel as average instead of excellent.

2 stars are for the location of the hotel (Everything is at a walkable distance right in the city center and not far from the port/airport) and Some rooms were comfy and some staff helpful. For the rest, where to start... Arriving by taxi at around 2 am due to flight delay ... feeling exhausted and got announced there is an issue with our room so they found us another hotel to stay for the night. Working in a 4* hotel in UK, I would use the words messing up with bookings and dealing with an overbooking situation! Didn't start well but can't complain about the hotel they found us - actually really nice but what a shock to come back to Capsis when you have done the other one ! Finally stayed there on the 2nd night with dinner included. Came all this way to have a choice of pasta, salad or burgers in the restaurant on the ground floor- basically limited european food because included with our stay. There is actually a full menu available for people who just walk in. At this stage we were thinking it will be a nightmare for us staying another 4 nights with dinner included. Fortunately for us, we found out later during our stay there is actually a buffet open on some days of the week which offered decent food varying on daily basis. I would advise you to book only bed and breakfast and then check with them upon the day which option they have for dinner. We then had a break in Santorini before coming back here with 3 hours delay from the boat and at the same time of a powercut in the city during this evening. Not their fault for sure but were really disorganised. That was us waiting in Reception for 10 min as been told to wait for the lights to come back and hoping we could have our dinner (included). After having enough to wait and thinking we could spend the whole night like this, that was us at 10pm trying to find our room with the light from my mobile. Not even a "fire exit" light working... corridors pitch black! Got the power back around midnight and finally able to have a hot shower - A thought of an emergency generator would be nice for a 4* hotel. We had a different room this time but my mother having issues with her back found the mattress too hard for her. Had to ask 3 times within 2 days for a mattress topper, hearing each time this will not be a problem before one of the receptionist told us they actually had none. The receptionist and the porter on that day were actually nice and helpful and allowed my mother to try other rooms/mattresses before having a room move. Managed to find some time to go on the top roof to see a small pool with a horrible brown/orange dirt mark showing the line of the water. Doesn't make you feel like going in there for sure. This pool deserves a really good clean. Finally, our travel agent organised with the hotel to have some pack lunches to bring while we had excursions for the day. Honestly what a big mistake !! Got a bag each with a whole cucumber and a whole tomato (to cut yourself with plastic knife/fork), some slices of bread, ham and cheese on a separate plastic bag, a bottle of water and a juice. Had to have these for 2 days (same thing) while we actually had only 1 bag given on the 2nd time (despite us saying to the receptionist: are you sure this is for 2 people and been told it was the case) -> thinking I'm not going to check out the cucumber and the tomato at reception in front of everyone right ?! Well big mistake because it was only for 1 person. The agency ended giving back the full pack lunch at Reception at the end of the day. And honestly what a bad attitude from the receptionist ! That was me again asking for a discount on check out for the pack lunch we didn't have&eat (which we got deducted on the final bill). I'm still waiting for someone to ask me how was our stay ?! Again working in hospitality, I pay attention to trip advisor reviews and don't like fussy guests showing pictures of every issues or tiny dirt they could fine but it needed to be said. Overall lots of things to say, big communication issue within the hotel and lots of time spend at reception complaining. Not exactly what you want to do when you are on holiday and you work in hospitality.

We have stayed at this hotel three times and it's been an excellent hotel. Although mainly good we did have an issue which made the stay less pleasant than before, this was a one night special as a birthday present and we were in room 410 the grand suite. An amazing set of rooms and the large balcony on the corner of the 4th floor offered spectacular views, the issue was the jacuzzi bath, first it wouldn't start (apparently the pump had been switched off), then it wouldn't switch off (presumably the reason why the pump was switched off in the first place)? After being advised to drain out the water and it would stop (it didn't) another visit from the serviceman switched it off. Everything was to its usual standard, the location is fantastic and the staff friendly and helpful.

Really nice hotel with a serviceminded staff. Best breakfast I have ever got in Crete and in Greece in general! Rooms are ok as well, but it was a shame that we didn't got the view we hoped - Eleftherias square. We took a square view room, because we thought it was looking at Eleftherias square, but it meant that the balcony was squared and big. The balcony was unnecessary big and didn't have any sun beds or anything, so it was crazy big with a small table and two chairs, that was a bit weird. View was ok, but not the best.

Beautifull room and very helpfull and knowleable staff! Beakfast was so rich and good quality as never experiencd in any other hotel. The staff at the reception helped me in any possible way. We will tell all our friends t stop here when coming to Crete!

We enjoyed an unforgettable holiday weekend in this lovely and luxurious hotel in Heraklion last week, and we would certainly recommend it. Capsis Astoria Hotel is an amazing hotel, located in the center of Heraklion, in a very convenient location, just a few minutes away from Liontaria Square. It offers clean, luxurious and spacious rooms, elegantly decorated combining modern style elements and equipped with COCOMAT beds. From our balcony we enjoyed a panoramic view to the Eleftheria Square and the city of Heraklion. We also taste a delicious buffet-style breakfast with local products, offered in the cozy and beautiful restaurant of the hotel. The personnel was very gentle, at our service all day. Special thanks and regards to the manager of the hotel.

Central Location near Shopping Area, venetian harbour auf just next door go archaeological museum. Good, modern rooms, Best breakfast ever and a wonderful rooftop pool and bar. Nice people - what do you need more?
