Just one night in this hotel was enough to appreciate what higher quality accommodation is like. Impeccably clean and furnished (no odd smells), soft, thick carpets and newly refurbished bathrooms. Very quiet despite being in a central location. Great service - very friendly and professional staff at reception. Extremely quick check-in and check-out. A wide variety of items on the room service menu - very tasty and large servings. Breakfast buffet was delicious - lots of choice and a comfortable atmosphere.
the breakfast is good. we had a problem with our bathroom as soon as we got there and they moved us to another room, with same aspects. next to the port and to walk around the city centre. The annoying part is the cab company that they call.. We were going to Chania from there, and the drivers were trying to push us to take us there, and charge us 200 euro, saying that it was cheaper than the bus and we would be there in 2h, and by bus in 4, 5! we were in 7 persons, and by bus + cab in chania, it wasn't even 100 euros.. and like 2 hours. I know this is related to the cab company, but I think that the hotel should only contact people that are not trying to steal from the guests.. this is quite annoying.. :/
The Atrion is quite close to several historical attractions including the Historical Museum of Crete, the Venetian Fortress and a recently excavated/reconstructed Byzantine-era church. However, it is not in the absolute center of the city, which is probably a good thing in summer when there are many more tourists. If you take a taxi from the airport be careful that the driver takes you to the right hotel for mine was confused and dropped me at a similar sounding establishment! BTW The hotel is tucked in a side street and its location is not immediately obvious at night. However, the area seems safe with many eateries and taverns. This is a modern establishment, not an historic hotel. As such it has a lift. After Croatia I was thankful for this bit of modernity. I booked a twin room that had two single beds and a balcony with a partial view of the ocean. It was quite comfortable as other people have indicated in other reviews. The breakfast was excellent with a variety of local dishes as well as the standard hotel fare. There is a restaurant and bar on-site; if you want a late evening snack, this is available although the menu is restricted after a certain hour. All-in-all it was a pleasant stay.
i Live there during a business trip in Heraklion. The room was fantastic and the breakfast buffet rich enough!!! I had the opportunity to taste a real Cretan breakfast with a big variety of Cretan dishes. the staff was very very polite and willing to explain me everything for the Heraklion city. I suggest your staying at Atrion hotel!!!
We booked a room to the lastminute on booking.com. Beware of which category , and how many people one room can accomodate. Booking doesn’t always make it clear upon booking in online. We had information mixed up, and ended up with a single room instead of a double. Front desk was gracious enough to find us a solution and got us the right room on the spot. I can’t tell about the view, as our room was facing the side of another building. The room ifself was quite plush and comfortable. A/c worked well. Bathroom was perfect and came with a tube. Location was great, as the hotel is close to everything and the area safe to walk in at night Breakfast was included and it was delicious.
Nice Hotel in a Great Location, short stroll up the and there are loads of places to eat and shop... the area has quite a buzz..., but its far enough from the hotel not to bother you at night... The staff were very helpful and friendly, Rooms were clean and serviced daily and the breakfast was impressive. I would stay here again.
Very nice little hotel in old Heraklion. A few blocks away (don't be fooled - the streets are still a maze, even if it's only for a few blocks) from the center of the town. Rooms are simple, very clean, often with a balcony. You get more than you expect for the price. Excellent breakfast buffet and very helpful help at the front desk. When I return to Heraklion, this will be the place where I take a room.
This hotel is in the old town, a 5 minutes walk to the fortress and 15-20 minutes walk to the ferry port. It is also convenient to walk to center town, to Morosini fountain and the Archeological museum. The room is clean (although the floor is rug covered), well furnished, with a sea view balcony. The bed is comfortable. The bathroom is modern, clean with a glass shower. AC is good as well as Wi Fi signal. Breakfast buffet is good served in a nice dining room or on the terrasse. It is a good choice in Heraklion.
I think the best part is the location, walking distance from everywhere. The room was big enough, beds comfortable, the bathroom nice and clean. The personnel was efficient and friendly. The breakfast buffet was delicious, specially the homemade marmalade and the local honey and yogurt. We loved our stay
A good and modern hotel, quiet, very close to the pedestrian area of Heraklion (the Liontarakia fountain), the port and the airport. The rooms are spacious, clean and well decorated. Very good breakfast and friendly staff. Ideal for business staying.
