the apartment was clean and spacious (2different rooms, 2single beds and one sofa-bed...the sofa-bed was a bit uncomfortable to sleep though), with fully equipped kitchen, the wifi signal was excellent, the location was very central (just few minutes walking from the train station), the reception is not 24hours and there is no breakfast area
I enjoyed my stay here. The building seems to have been flats at one point before becoming a hotel. My room with a single bed was quite large, with high ceilings and large windows, and was well equipped with a wardrobe, shelves, dining table, kitchen facility...this all felt like great value, considering that the nightly rate was less than that of a full-service hotel (and really, I was mostly looking for a place to sleep and store my belongings during the day, so this was more than suitable for my needs). When I stayed, there was the ability to reserve the sauna in the basement for a time during the evenings, which was also a nice bonus. I did make use of the laundry facility in the basement as well, which was very handy. The hotel is also very accessible - it's easy to get to the city center whether you are taking the tram, taxi, or just walking, and it's easy to get to from the airport by taking the Finnair bus and walking a short distance. The only downside was that some of the fixtures in the room were quite dusty upon my arrival, but this was mostly spaces which were out of the way, like on top of the shelves and wardrobe. This didn't really bother me as the other fixtures (and particularly the bed) were clean but I brought it to the attention of the management anyway, who were very apologetic and friendly about the whole matter. I wouldn't hesitate to return here when visiting Helsinki again, since it was such good value for what was offered.
This is a very nice hotel. The laundry room has two washers and two dryers and you can buy detergent at the front desk so you don't have to buy too much for just one load. In the room they have a TV which I personally appreciate. If you can figure out the directions it's a short walk from the central station. No need to sign up for the big bus tour because everything is within walking distance. I recommend the little lake near the hotel for exercise. I ran from the hotel around the lake four times and back for a total of 6 miles. For groceries, turn left out of the hotel and walk straight until you see "Alepa" on the left at an intersection. It's a very short walk. I recommend walking 20 minutes to Old Market Hall, which is a very nice food hall which has a café with all gluten-free baked goods. Make sure to bring your umbrella because it can be raining one day and sunny the next.
The apartment is spacious,in quiet zone,in a residential neighborhood, but also close to downtown. There are 3 geographical references: Finlandia hall, Parliament building and Museum of National History.
So much better than a hotel - twelve of us saved minimum 1000 euros over three nights. The families each had an apartment, which was easier with children. We could invite friends back to sit in the sitting/dining areas. Having a sauna and balcony was lovely. Great location - five mins walk to airport bus and trams, half an hour to Linnanmaki and harbour. Staff were very professional and helpful.
On previous visits to Helsinki we had either stayed with friends or in one of the central hotels. This time we tried something a little different in that we chose to stay in an apartment. We wanted to buy our own food, shop and generally feel that we were participating, no matter how superficially in Helsinki life. So we chose Hellsten Helsinki Parliament. Despite the rather circuitous route that the taxi has to take to get there from the port where we arrived, it is in fact only a ten minute walk from the famous station. I can only describe our stay as faultless. In fact after only a day we said, “We could live here.” We had comfortable beds, an airy apartment overlooking an elegant street and there was little more to want or need. We were not planning to return to Helsinki until next year but our stay in that wonderful city was so good, so enriching that we are thinking of rearranging our plans and making it sooner. The highest recommendation possible for this welcoming hotel.
We spent eight days at the Hellsten Helsinki Parliament, and we are both in agreement that having such an excellent base helped to make our trip to Helsinki even more enjoyable. As travellers, we like to be fairly independent and our studio apartment provided exactly what we needed: an easy chair for relaxing, a desk so that my partner could work on his laptop (and an excellent wifi connection) very useful kitchen corner with kettle, fridge/freezer, hob and microwave (and a good selection of cutlery, plates and kitchen utensils). So we were able to come and go at our own pace and shop at the local supermarket and at the superb fish market on the quayside.Since we like to travel light, we were happy to have the use of the laundry in the basement. Our room was cleaned, and towels changed, three days, and the room was spotlessly clean when we arrived. All of the reception staff spoke such excellent English that they made me feel ashamed of my complete ignorance of Finnish, and were very friendly and helpful with all of our queries. The Hellsten is also ideal as a base for exploring Helsinki: we were ten minutes' walk from the railway station and the city centre, five minutes away was a beautiful lakeside walk, and the Sibelius Monument was within a fifteen minute walk. We enjoyed our visit to Helsinki very much, and the Hellsten helped to make it even more special by providing all of the facilities we needed. We're already planning our next visit!
Stayed here for 4 nights and were really happy. Room was clean and spacious. Kitchen facilities were adequate and clean. Massive fridge as well as a combi microwave grill, kettle and coffee machine. The sauna is the basement is a must... you book a slot so you are the only ones using it at the time. Wi-Fi was a bit temperamental and kept dropping out sometimes but worked well when connected. Rooms are warm.. possibly a little too warm but we seemed to have fab weather the weekend we were there. Town was about 15 mins walk and 10 to the station. Close enough to walk everywhere but just on the outskirts of the hustle. Good location overall
We had a lovely warm welcome from the staff. They answered email queries quickly. Kitchen area was great for lazy breakfasts. Sauna was a real treat. Located close to the centre of Helsinki and easy to catch public transport around.
All very much! Convenient location in the city centre. The room has everything you need. Parking is free in 20 minutes from the hotel, near the Opera. The staff is friendly and good-natured! I recommend to all the travelers.
