It's a bit off the beaten track. But once found was ok. Staff were helpful, breakfast good, room refurbished but small, had to manoeuvre around the bathroom door. Bar was lively, mixed crowd of business and leisure, being close to Paris and La Defense. So on balance, ok.
It is a clean and generally ok. The hotel bar is small but the bartenders were really great for a team event. My main issue with the experience at this Hotel was that they did not have my room ready although I have made special arrangements and paid additional for it. Also the room was kept hotter and AC was not very effective.
I went here on a business trip to Paris and as this hotel is situated in the business district of Paris it really fitted my scope as it was 10 minutes of walk time form the office. The receptionist was helpful although they mixed up my reservation (I do not know if the hotel was to blame or the booking company that I used, but apparently although our prepaid vouchers were on different names - me and a colleague - at the hotel reception both of them were registered on the same name). The rooms are clean an cosy, the bed is awesome to sleep in and other tech details really made me enjoy my stay. One of them being the fact that you have usb chargers directly into the wall sockets, well done! Being most of the time crowded, in the morning it's a little cramped and hectic at breakfast and some of the times they run out of things an the staff is not to quick to replentish them. The only bad score that I would give it to the bored non collaborative bartender that I encountered on one of the evenings.
the hotel is in the La defense/business district area. It has a good location because it is near to cafe and restaurant nearby. The rooms are on the small side but clean and tidy. It has a roof deck that has a small gym and gives a good view of the Eiffel tower and surrounding area. the price is midrange. The negative is the limited breakfast and poor staff service. an example was for a request for a refill of the body and hair shampoo, we repeatedly requested for two consecutive day before it was changed. The front desk staff are also not that accommodating but relatively dry to response.
This trip arrives at the Visitor Centre and remains there for several hours before continuing to Rhayder. The Centre has an exhibition and a wonderful cafe, where they serve the most delicious food at very reasonable prices. Sadly, they stay here for several hours, not ideal if you are an OAP (which was the case on our trip) or if the weather is bad. On the day we went it was blowing a gale with heavy rain, so the wonderful driver CHRIS, used his initiative and gave us a tour of the reservoirs- which saved the day! Without this 'added' excursion it would have been a miserable day, as many of the folks were on sticks and others far too young to walk around for several hours. Rhayder was ok, not a lot there, so after walking the main street, which took all of 5 mins, we sat in the pub and made a large glass of wine last until we left for home. In fact, most of the other day trippers were doing the same! Would I do this trip again, definately NO! Edwards need to re-think this day trip. Boring to be left at a Centre for several hours, unless you are fit and young and can walk around. As for Rhayder it boasts has wonderful views, nothing there, so apart from our pub visit never spent a penny as the shops, or lack of them, really doesn't inspire anyone. Sometimes I get the idea that those who set the trip into motion, might think it looks good on paper, but in reality they need to 'test' it out for themselves.
I must be honest we stayed in room 758. The view was straight into other rooms, so had to keep curtains closed. The room was clean though slightly tired needs refurbishment. The staff appear to need some training, as on our first night we went out for a meal. We then decided to visit the Hotel bar for a drink. Guess what after waiting for nigh on 20 mins no one showed up to serve us. We then crossed the road to the Garden bar and got served within minutes. When I asked about buying a Charlie Hebdo magazine I was treated to a NOT IN THIS HOTEL. Wow! Plus side the Breakfast is really good though I wish they supply proper cups.
We wanted to extend our week long French holiday and visit Paris for the day. The location was spot on as coming in from the North (Normandy) we didn't have to drive round the city centre. The hotel is in a good location - walkable distance to the Metro and at the end of the line, so easy to remember! Only issue being our car with roof box was too tall for the carpark, we were very lucky to find on street parking which was free with it being the weekend.
We stayed here over the weekend. I must say I am a very sensitive sleeper and usually find it very hard sleeping in the hotels. but this time the bed was very comfy, the room was nice and clean. We enjoyed our breakfast. The only thing that could have been better is the car parking. As on their website it says they have their own car park, which is actually couple of spaces allocated in this car park, but it has a lift to the hotel. I think you shouldn't be advertising as a free car park!As it was quite expensive! Other than that I think the hotel was nice, clean and the service was good, well typically French service:) not too friendly but OK:)
After checking out, asked reception to book me a taxi to take me and my family to another location in Paris. Shortly afterwards receptionist told me my taxi was there, and introduced the driver. Only after I had our luggage, 2 kids, and mobility impaired husband in taxi, and we were on our way did I realise it was actually a private airport shuttle - not a taxi. Shuttle charged per person - resulted in massively overpaying for relatively short trip. When you ask a receptionist for a taxi, you expect a taxi, or at least to be told the option they are suggesting is not what you asked for. Left luggage in baggage room for day, when I came back 1 bag had been knocked over, with wheel at strange angle, and unable to take weight of luggage. Receptionist did not know what to say/do when I pointed it out, and initially just shrugged. After I persisted, she got a maintenance person to come who fiddled with wheel briefly, and moved it just enough to get bag to stand, and claimed there was no problem. Bag does not wheel properly now which it did when we placed it in room in morning. Seems it is an all care, no responsibility situation. Previous evening I tried to use the washing machine in guest laundry - put 4€ in but machine would not start. Contacted reception, and they said they would send a maintenance person up to assist. After 45 minutes waiting gave up, and took dirty clothes back to room to repack. On the positive side, Mercure provides a shuttle service to/from the local metro station, which was great, and had a friendly, helpful driver. Metro line very convenient for Paris attractions. Room was reasonable size, clean and air conditioned.
Hotel staff are friendly and helpful ,room is clean and space is ok. The worst is breakfast even I went with group. The breakfast is no choose at all, only canned fruit, ham and very few varieties. I have travelled with groups over 25 years and I ever had the breakfast is worst than this hotel. Obviously, the hotel is not up to accor standard. Sausage was over cooked. Queuing 10 - 15 mins to take breakfast. Even Formula one and Ibis is better than them. Very disappointed.
