I stayed here to attend a friend’s wedding. I ate here the night before and was a little disappointed with how slow the bar service was (one server only for a lot of people) and the food was disappointing (burger over cooked and not particularly warm). The wedding reception, however, was brilliant. Fantastic grounds, attentive staff and good food - both for the Wedding breakfast and the evening buffet. The rooms are spacious, clean, if a little dated and could perhaps do with renovating (I stayed in room 131). Breakfast was very good - tasty cold buffet and hot options also very good quality and just what you need after a heavy night.
Stayed on a Sunday night before a visit to Highclere. Lovey character hotel, in lovely grounds. Staff welcoming. Initial room not available (3.00pm) but allocated another quickly. Understandable as there was a large party there the previous night? Room (116) well appointed with all facilities, large comfortable bed, and clean all round. Sky TV not available, but listed on the channel list - would have liked to watch Sunday PM football. Room, and bathroom quite comfortable, but perhaps in need of a general "refresh"? Went to dinner at 7 to find a very large group in the bar and Conservatory restaurant. Subsequently difficult to be served by singular barman! We were seated in a lovey timber panelled room away from the conservatory restaurant - because of the large party i assume. We were worried service would be slow because of the large group, but all was ok. We found the menu graphics a let down, and difficult to read. Took careful study to see the true extent of what was on offer. A better presentation of the menu would add immeasurably to the dining experience. My Pork belly starter was too much, and bland, but the steaks were good. Overall very happy with the meal. Breakfast was in the Conservatory, and what a lovey space. Breakfast service and meal was excellent. Overall, a lovely stay in a nice hotel, but a better presentation of the dinner menu would help immeasurably!
This hotel is part of the Handpicked Hotels group where we particularly like Rhinefield House near Brockenhurst. We saw that Audleys Wood offered the same Sunday stay as Rhinefield House so, as we had enjoyed it there, we booked at Audleys House. The offer is an overnight stay for two on Sundays to include afternoon cream tea, dinner and breakfast the following morning. The cost of your stay is £164.00 for two including an allowance of £39.00 per person towards the evening meal food. It is very much a country hotel but quite close to the M3 and Basinstoke. The longish winding drive through the trees leads to the magnificent old building with it's surrounding gardens. Our room was in the modern extension and the spacious room was very well equipped with everything you would expect of an upmarket hotel. The excellent light lunch of sandwiches, salad and crisps at £8.00 each was a real bargain. The cream tea was good with excellent freshly made scones and the evening meal was very good. We did have a minor problem with mistakes on the final bill but the very helpful young man on reception sorted it so it was not a problem,
We had Sunday lunch in the conservatory for my dad's birthday, and it was really tasty. We had roast lamb and roast beef, and both were cooked perfectly, slightly pink 😍. They even pandered to my brother when he asked for a Yorkshire pudding even though it wasn't supposed to be served with the lamb. And I could have eaten two or maybe even three of the cheesecake for pudding lol.
Nice English country hotel set in nice grounds. The room was comfortable and of a good size with good bathroom products. The staff in general were helpful and friendly. On the negative side they do not serve breakfast until 8am at the weekend. This is too late for early risers with things to do....... we had to attend a course nearby which started at 8:15 am ...... we did manage to get the restaurant manager to give us bacon rolls to go, he was very helpful, but this was not the full English we had paid for and were looking forward to! Also one of the bar men needs to go on a gin and tonic course....... no use having a wide selection of gin and not understanding how to prepare it and with what! It is also a wedding venue hotel this did not bother us too much....... guess it depends on who is getting married.
Stayed here for one night over the Easter weekend with children. The hotel and grounds are breathtaking, really beautiful. We stayed in a double x2 room and was pleasantly surprised to find little Easter basket treats for the kids waiting in our room - a really nice touch. The room itself was a great size and accommodated my family really well, was clean and had nice decor. The wedding was beautiful, in a very nice marquee a short stroll from the main hotel. Morning breakfast was laid out well and had a number of choices to suit all tastes. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend a visit for families and couples.
Thank you so much Audleys wood for an amazing stay. We returned to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary, as well as my husbands 40th birthday and my parents-in-laws Golden wedding anniversary, and you did not disappoint. Your staff were so welcoming and helpful, and you made our stay all the more memorable with the extra special touches of cards and chocolates in our rooms. The hotel is still just as beautiful as it was on our wedding day and it brought tears to my eyes to be back. The food and service was excellent and I cant wait to come back....I really don't know why we left it so long!
Stayed on a Saturday with my Mum for a Mother’s Day great. We came last year, on a Sunday, and that trip was good - but this was much better. Perhaps because it was a Sunday, or because of a new (?) bar manager, the service was much better. Bar fully staffed at all times, and really friendly and helpful. Room lovely (a double double), and meal in restaurant was delicious. We said last year that we would come back, and we’re glad we did. And we’d definitely visit again. Thanks for a great stay.
We have just returned from a two night stay in the hotel. We had one of the suites which was spacious and luxurious. Staff attentive but not over the top. Food both breakfast and dinner to a very high standard and generous portions. Pilaties bags provided plus a DVD for those who enjoy a little gentle exercise! Home from home.
As always the most AMAZING service and always made to feel special, we got married here 4 years ago and have come back for our anniversary ever since, this is our tradition and we won’t change it!!
