We stayed here in August for my boyfriends 30th birthday and we couldn't have asked for a better stay! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome, and well looked-after. We had a bottle of champagne and chocolate fondue included in our deal - the champagne was already in our room waiting for us along with some truffles as a happy birthday gift for my boyfriend. They brought the fondue to our room later in the day, which was very nice too - we wouldn't have ordered it if it wasn't in our room already, but it was nice all the same! Lovely grounds - we had a walk around a couple of times and hotel well located to get into Basingstoke. Room was lovely too - well decorated and bed was comfy. Had a nice view of the grounds. We also had dinner included, which was really fantastic - food was spectacular and the service was warm and friendly. Drinks are a little pricey so be aware of that. Breakfast was also brilliant. Table service and cooked breakfast made to order, which was delicious and one of the better hotel breakfasts I've had. All in all a brilliant stay - would definitely recommend. There was a wedding on when we were staying but we barely noticed as everything was clearly so well planned to make sure guests weren't disturbed. Would definitely stay again.
We spent a very comfortable overnight stay celebrating our wedding anniversary. This is the sixth Hand Picked hotel we have stayed in and the standard is consistently good. Our evening meal was really magnificent and the staff excellent.
Having enjoyed a different Handpicked Hotel a couple of years ago we thought we'd treat ourselves to a night at Audleys Wood prior to our visit to Southampton the following day. Online booking was straightforward, but when I phoned the hotel to ask about vegetarian options I was told "You should be carnivores, we have teeth designed to tear flesh from bones" - seriously?! To check-in: this took 15 minutes as the hotel is clearly understaffed. We had plenty of time to admire the cobwebs and dead spiders in the central light fitting! Our room was lovely, however we quickly noticed a rapid leak from beneath the toilet, a visit to reception resulted in a change of room after half an hour of uncertainty. So not enough time for a relaxing bath and dinner in the restaurant - a quick dip (not enough towels) and a meal in the lounge instead (couldn't fault that!) Back to the room - comfortable beds to relax in and count the cobwebs and spiders (alive this time!) on the ceiling. Needless to say we won't be returning!
Stayed two nights, our first stay in a Hand Picked Hotel..Great room overlooking the huge garden, dinner and breakfast in the lovely light airy conservatory room. Good dinner and a particularly good breakfast, loved the selection of meat and cheese in the continental breakfast. We're ever in that part of the world again, this is the hotel for us!
we booked the afternoon tea with friends for an end of summer treat and we had a great time staff were helpful and attentive without being constantly there, helpful advice on which teas to try, nice glass of bubbly to start the treat, good choice of sandwiches, offered a choice of jam to go with the scones. everywhere was clean and what you would expect from a country house. Toilets were clean but did look like they needed to be update
We stayed at Audleys Wood after a day out at Peppa Pig World which is only half hour drive away. We stayed with our 2 young children- 18 months and 4 years old. The room we had 2 double beds and the hotel had set a travel cot up for us. The room was very cosy and clean. Hotel had lots of character and was very welcoming. Staff polite and friendly. Although we were the only couple with young children the hotel were very accommodating and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was lovely, lots of choice and good quality food. We had a lovely time and very enjoyable experience with the hotel. Would definitely return and recommend! Fantastic
I cannot rate this hotel high enough. We spent one night there and it was a lovely experience we had a room at the back so was very quiet. Beautiful room with wonderful facilities. Breakfast was superb the service was rather slow but it was so relaxing it did not matter. Will definitely be returning.
We have been to Audrey's Wood about 6 times but this time in particular was faultless. From the warm greeting on arrival to the excellent bar and restaurant staff we were treated like royalty. As I am gluten and dairy intolerant eating out can be a trial but the chef prepared a special menu for me. I had wild mushrooms on gluten free toast with a perfect poached egg followed by chicken with sauté potatoes and kale. He even could offer me a choice of deserts- what a treat! The room was spacious with a large comfortable bed, lovely view of the grounds and good amenities like a mini fridge. The rooms don't have air conditioning but two fans made our stay comfortable. William one of the managers is exceptional and really has superb people skills. We would like to thank him for making my husbands birthday such a special one. This is a gorgeous country house that is perfect for any occasion and we will definitely be back. Thank you Audrey's Wood.
Having recently had a wonderful experience recently at my daughters wedding at Audleys Wood I felt it very fitting to pop back and purchase a voucher (which I didn't want to do on line) for my elderly father and friend for afternoon tea for both their birthdays this coming Sunday. I was told by the gentleman behind the desk he couldn't do it as it would take some time and I would have to wait at least 15mins which I didn't mind. It became very obvious he did not want to do this and insisted I completed on line as it would be quicker! I have just finished training over a 100 staff in my place of work, I began asking my delegates to think of a time they received poor customer service and how it made them feel. Having what I believe was poor customer service from your own staff member I came away feeling upset, belittled (two people behind me waiting to check in overhearing conversation) and extremely disappointed - all I wanted was to purchase 2 x vouchers so I could pop in their cards. I certainly did not expect to come away from a 4* establishment feeling like I did!
Me and my partner recently stayed here for our anniversary and had a lovely stay. We booked the room through another website, which gave us complimentary champagne, afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast. What we didn't know is that the hotel upgraded us to a suite. The suite was huge, had Sky Sports (girlfriend wasn't happy) and one of the comfiest beds I've stayed in for a while. My only annoyance with the room was that a wedding party had pre dinner drinks right below our room, but they left within an hour. The food for the afternoon tea and dinner were fantastic and had good options. The breakfast menu was huge and super tasty - my only annoyance is that we had to queue for about 20minutes to get a seat. Annoyingly, the day was quite wet so we didn't get to go outside, but the hotel had plenty of options and has a fantastic board game collection - great for game enthusiasts like myself. I'd highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying for a romantic getaway.
