We were on a break with friends and after a short stop in BKK we headed for Koh Samui and the Bandara. Having stayed here previously I was expecting it to be good and we were not disappointed. Prior to arriving I had received an email advising that renovation work was taking place. Being honest this was of minor inconvenience. A couple of days into our stay we we're asked to pack our bags and the hotel moved us from our rooms to villas.....such hardship. The villas were very spacious and romantic with outside shower etc. All in all we had a lovely time and we would definitely go back. The only downside was having had a morning swim in the main pool my eyes were red and sore all day. On the plus side it is a fantastic location for walking down to Fisherman's wharf with a good selection of restaurants varying in price. We ate from the street market one evening and it was unbelievably cheap and very tasty.
Excellent service from every staff member helpfull and obliging good choice of meals and drinks swimming pools and surrounds clean and lush rooms clean and comfortable this is our 3rd visit and will definatly be back again great spot right on the beach
We loved our stay here. It was so beautiful and kept so clean. Our Villa was spacious and we were greeted with a bottle of champage, delicious heart shaped cake and heart flowers on our bed as we arrived to start our honeymoon. Our 6 night stay was fantastic. Close to all shops, money exchange, fishermans village and friendly locals. We were able to walk easily to many shops and found the location really beautiful. Staff were great giving ideas of prices we should pay outside resort for taxis or tuktuks. 2 happy hours a day with well priced meals and drinks. Staff were all so welcoming. Loved our stay and will return
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Bandara. We didn’t realise when we booked that there was going to be renovation works at the hotel but this didn’t affect our stay at all and the hotel provided an upfront complimentary credit to spend in the spa, restaurant and bar as an apology. Room: we stayed in a pool villa and it was great! Nice and quiet, private and having your own little pool and seating area outside was nice if you just wanted to chill. We also had an outdoor shower and bath :) the room was always clean and the housekeeping would burn oils which made the room smell lovely and helped to keep mozzies at bay. Facilities: the main pool was closed whilst we were there due to renovations on the rooms that overlook it but this didn’t bother us, the beach pool was lovely and never crowded - plenty of beds to choose from either on the beach or by the pool. Service at the bar was great and all staff members were friendly. We ate in the restaurant once and wasn’t disappointed. On a Tuesday night they hold a night market on the beach where you can choose from street food type vendors - really tasty! They also hold other special nights such as beach bbq and surf and turf - we found these quite pricy so didn’t attend but the food did look nice. There are water sports you can get involved in and various activities on the lawn. Breakfast: we found the breakfast choices great with lots to choose from - cereals, continental, pastries, fruit, cooked etc I recommend the egg or noodle station. It’s really nice having breakfast overlooking the beach. Location: we found the location perfect for what we wanted - peace and quiet :). It’s a short walk from fisherman’s village either down the beach or bus the road. Definitely recommend the night market here which is on a Monday and Friday (friday’s is larger). There are also plenty of restaurants nearby on the way to fisherman’s or in it. Check in / staff: check in / out was easy, nice welcome drink and helped us to our room and where facilities were. All staff members we encountered were helpful, friendly and smiling! It was my husbands birthday whilst we were there and they provided a cake and made some towel swans in the room which was a lovely touch. General: the hotel is really upgrading some areas ready for the peak season so would love to come back to see the improvements - some are already visible. This is a lovely hotel in a great area. Will definitely come back!
This was the 4th time we have stayed at the resort, if you care to you can read my previous reviews. As a returning customer it is pretty obvious that we like this resort. I was especially pleased this stay to see that some more improvements have been made to the resort since my last stay. All of the beach chairs have been replaced with brand new ones, which are super comfortable. The breakfast is now taken in the main restaurant by the beach, it is so nice to wake up and have breakfast overlooking the water! A few days before we left they started to do some renovations to the standard rooms as well which is great to see. As usual, we received really warm and friendly service, the staff are really fantastic which is probably the main reason we keep returning.
This was my second visit to Bandara and doesn't disappoint. Also looking at travelling again next year. As soon as you arrive you are warmly greeted, check is in smooth and nice touch with the cold towel and welcome drink. Room: We stayed in a twin deluxe room by the main pool and they even put us in the same room as we stayed in on a previous year which was lovely and also had a "welcome home" design on the bed. Lovely for them to remember. Beach: Great service at the beach bar where happy hour goes from 5-7 and also at the main pool from 3-5. Did find it very annoying that people were reserving beds on he beach early in the morning, not sure what it's like in peak season though.. Breakfast/restaurant: Great selection for breakfast, had lunch a few times and found this great value if you find the special meals. Room: room was cleaned daily and even we had an incident with a cockroach wandering in our room and rang reception and was kindly helped out by 2 young men that helped. Can't be helped with the beautiful gardens around, even though they do fumigate twice an month Location: great location in Bophut, 10 mins walk to fishermans market, family mart/pharmacy across the road, number of great restaurants around All in all a great stay, and looking forward to staying again in 2018!
Stayed 2 nights. Was greeted by Stefan who checked us in. We originally booked a deluxe double but when we were shown the room it was quite evident they shouldn't have let people book it as the room next door was being completely renovated. Stefan was very helpful and did all he could to move us but couldn't that day, he managed to get them to stop working and arranged us to be moved the next day which we were happy about. To our delight we moved to a private pool villa which was amazing would have loved to stay for a few days but only got one night as we were moving on. The hotel grounds are nice and it has its own private beach... town is about a 20 min walk along the beach. Thank you for the great customer service and would recommend this hotel
We stayed during the Easter school holidays. We arrived in time for the good weather as prior to our arrival Koh Samui had a lot of rain so we were very lucky. Reception - It was ok. Experienced better welcome at other resorts before. On our last day we used cash to pay for everything so we were able to settle our bill the night before we were due to check out. Arranged for a wake up call because of early flight but never received it. Thankfully, my husband had set his alarm on this phone 'just in case'. Assistance came promptly at the time specified to help us with our luggage. Reception had kindly arranged for us to have some breakfast items to take away with us the night before which was greatly appreciated. Accommodation - We stayed in a Villa with it’s own plunge pool. We loved it. It was spacious and we made daily use of our plunge pool towards the end of the day. Miss Ning from housekeeping always did a great job with our room and made a beautiful elephant out of towels for us on our last night. The plunge pool was always checked/cleaned daily too. There was a mosquito plug-in provided in the room which was brilliant. The room also had an oil burner which housekeeping top up with I think citronella oil to help get rid of mosquitos. My daughter and myself managed to escape from the mosquitos but my husband didn’t. The Villa had an outdoor shower which my husband enjoyed using each morning. Food - Breakfast - we enjoyed breakfast every morning with plenty of options to choose from. Lunch - we had a couple of light lunches from the Beach bar for the first couple of days and then for the remaining of our stay we stayed by the main pool so ordered our light lunches from the Pool bar and having it delivered to us by our loungers was very lovely. Dinner - we were on half board so had our dinners at Chom Dao beach restaurant but ventured into Fishermans Village for dinner on a couple of nights which we loved. Food at Chom Dao was delicious and we were always greeted by Ricky who looked after us very well. When we come back in the future, we would be happy to just do B&B only as Fisherman’s Village is not a far walk away along the beach (even with a five year old). Plenty of restaurants there and the restaurants we did try we enjoyed and found it to be very reasonable. Swimming Pools & Beach - We loved the main pool and that’s where we stayed mostly. Annoyingly, I don’t think this resort is the only one experiencing guests ‘reserving’ their loungers by leaving their towels on them bright and early even though signs are up advising guests not to do so. My daughter loved the main pool and the children’s pool. The beach is nice. Grainy sand like others have said so no point bringing sand toys for the little ones as you can’t build sand castles with it. On the positive, the sand was easy to brush off. We didn’t enjoy relaxing on the beach because of the beach hawkers which is why we preferred to stay by the main pool. We think the hotel is slowly changing the old, well used loungers over to new ones. The new ones were always taken by the time we got to the beach. Shine Spa & salon - Tim the manager of the Spa is lovely. She leads a great team and run a fab spa. We booked our holiday with Kuoni and it came with two 90 minute massage treatments. I thoroughly enjoyed both as my husband didn’t want his. My daughter adored Tim and we got to use the jacuzzi in the Spa to get a break from the sun. For the Songkran festival (Thai New Year), Tim styled my daughters hair and mine. We both felt pampered and special. Thank you Tim! If you stay at Bandara, do get a treatment from the Shine Spa, you will be looked after very well. Gym - My husband used the gym a few times. His comments are that it’s small, the equipment could do with an upgrade but since he was able to do what he was able to do, he’s not complaining. There was usually one or two other guests working out in there whenever he went. Songkran festival (Thai New Year) - we really enjoyed this festival. The resort put on a great evening with dinner on the beach. As it is a water festival, we enjoyed getting involved with the water splashing outside the resort and my daughter loved getting involved with the parade with the Miss Songkran contest. Location - only a short ride from the airport. Short walk along the beach to Fishermans Village where there’s market nights a couple of nights a week. Minimart - There’s a handy minimart outside the resort (opposite reception) for any essential items you may need, snacks and beer! Overall, my five year old says she enjoyed her stay with a double thumbs up! Although the resort was 100% occupancy whilst we were there, it never felt overcrowded or busy. We look forward in coming back again in the future.
A great resort with something for everyone. Friendly staff and great facilities. Nice and quiet compared to most resorts I have stayed at in the past. The buffet breakfast is incredible! I look forward to visiting again.
So similar to my stay in 2014 - great location, grounds & pools. Breakfast also very good- now taken overlooking the beach Compared to other properties rooms still appear a bit tired though. Welcome drink was water - a bit cheap compared to other places Rated service as 4 stars but probably 3.5- efficient rather than friendly.
