We are staying here now. Only 2 nights into our 14 days stay. Very good start. Rooms are nice, rustic and everything is working. This is not a shiny, high class hotel/resort. But, an honest, pleasant and enjoyable place. What we like most is the calm and quiet atmosphere in all part of the resort. We was not aware off all the details with booking - so I like to clear some really good things for other travellers. This hotel has large bottles of soap, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. There is a bath towel service at the pool/beach - so you do not have to bring your own. The reception upon arriving was friendly and helpful. Be aware. Thailand (this Island) is a mosquito heaven. you HAVE TO bring your anti-moquito oil. Otherwise you will suffer. We also bought the local one, but still - they had quite a party on us. I do not know what more the hotel could have done - but mosquitos are everywhere. We love the stay, and have to say that food and everything is nice. We do not agree that food is overpriced, but it is not a cheap eat. We can not complain. Not cheap, but reasonable. Short walk to Fishermen´s village. The hotel has umbrellas in the room (free to use), as well as beach bag and two bottles of daily complimentary water. We love our stay and recommend the resort.
My friend and I stayed here on Thursday the 8th of June. We were greeted by a man called Lance (who was very professional and kind), who seated us and gave us a refreshing drink and face cloth, while we checked in.Then we were brought to out room. The room was amazing and was right beside the pool, which we loved. That evening we went down to the restaurant, which is located by the beach. The food was fantastic(had a great selection of European food) and the staff were so nice and had great English. We had a few amazing cocktails after dinner. The following morning we went for breakfast which was so tasty. I have never seen such a variety of food for breakfast. I had an omelette of my choice that was made in front of me. If I ever go back to Ko Samui, it would be to stay in this hotel. It was by far one of the nicest hotel with such friendly staff with a great view.
We have stayed there 6 times now and wouldn't hesitate to stay there a seventh, Everything from the resort, which is situated a short 5 minute walk from Fishermans Village and the staff who are very friendly and helpful. We recently stayed in the pool villa which was fantastic, good size pool and and a modern villa, we will be coming back. David & Miriam
Just returned from a weeks stay at the Bandara resort, it wasn't long enough! Had a wonderful stay there, the staff where so helpful and friendly they really couldn't do enough for you, the hotel itself was spotless the resturant offered a large variety of breakfast foods, the pool and resturant menus were good prices which is unusual in a hotel of this standard so that was a bonus,it's also the perfect location for the amazing Fishermans village, can't wait to return next year for longer! Would highly recommend this place
My partner and I stayed at the Bandara Resort and Spa for 8 days at the beginning of June. We stayed in a pool villa and it was incredible – we loved the outdoor bath and made use of the plunge pool and the exterior day bed (we sheltered from the rain under here one day, very relaxing!). The grounds are very well kept and beautifully peaceful to walk around and enjoy. I’d recommend doing the Yoga class on a Friday morning on the Banyan Lawn. We spent time at both the beach and the pools which were fab. There always seemed to be ample sun loungers available – we always got the spot that we wanted. On the beach there are plenty of things going on. You can hire a kayak and inflatables and lounge in the sea or you can buy something from the vendors walking up and down the beach. I personally found them a bit too intruding and would keep hassling even if you said no thank you. We loved the pools and spent a lot of our afternoon taking advantage of the happy hour cocktails at the main pool (they are lethal though, so watch out!). We were particularly impressed with the standard of food in the hotel. Although it is a tiny bit more expensive than local prices, it is fantastic quality and you can get all sorts of different dishes. Each day at the beach bar they have a ‘cocktail of the day’ and a ‘dish of the day’. These are mostly Thai dishes at a reduction of the usual price – a great way to taste different dishes too! Breakfast was amazing there was a lot to choose from. I loved the fruit selection but be careful as they are often uncovered and laced with flies. We loved the juices different each day! One night we did the Beach BBQ sold to us by Lance. It was a great atmosphere and wonderful setting however we weren’t that impressed with the food as most of the meat was covered in flies. It didn’t spoil our evening though, and it was made special by the two musicians who played songs for couples. One downfall to the hotel is the location on the main busy road. It is very scary and cars go so fast it’s impossible to cross the road. Luckily the hotel has its own ‘SEA HAWK’ who helps to stop the traffic and let you cross. I guess there’s nothing that the hotel can improve about that but I thought it worth mentioning. The staff were all very kind and helpful and made our stay more memorable. We loved it here, would definitely recommend to anyone!
This is our 1st time to Thailand but not Asia. This property was recommended by a friend. We saved $ going through Orbitz but wish I had booked it earlier as a travel companion got a great savings not waiting as long as I did. We check out in the next few days. Pro: Staff very welcoming and warm Daily free b-fast buffet was plentiful and fresh Housekeeping did a nice job cleaning room (remember to tip) Resort right on the Beach near Fisherman Wharf Front desk had adaptor for me to use Shuttle to Chaweng and back to hotel Con: Gym - Equipment was almost unusable it was so old and room was small This really needs to be improved Walkways: I am athletic and found myself tripping almost falling several times due to unusual dips in the walkways. Be alert as this really could cause an injury. Bottom of our front door to our villa did not completely seal shut (had a space large enough for bugs or mosquitos to come in) Had to wear bug spray at night Charged for ice for our ice-bucket (50 BH) All in all we are having a nice trip and if you can do the larger room with the dipping pool it is worth the extra $ only if you think you will use it. Our son used it on a daily basis.
This was my family's sixth visit in 10 years to Bandara (initially as a couple with no kids). Whilst we have always been of the opinion the hotel offers very good value for money, it is clear to see that management have lifted their game since our last visit 12 months ago. The main beachfront restaurant has undergone a renovation and offers great dining at good prices. The buffet Breakfast is of a good/better than reasonable standard. A la carte offerings are of a high standard, including pool side snacks, and are reasonably priced by resort standards. The hotel is well positioned beach side and is close to the Fisherman's village. There are also many cheap restaurants within a few minutes walk offering high quality Thai food in no frills settings (K-Siri next door being an example). As we are now a family of 2 plus 2 young kids we decided to upgrade on arrival to one of the recently built pool suites and our decision was absolutely vindicated; they are large, spacious, well maintained and offer a private 6 metre pool and uber king bed. As mentioned above whilst the beach is located on the beach, as beautiful as it is to look at it rates poorly to swim in with coarse sand and a sharp drop off - the beach at Chaweng provides a far superior bathing experience if you are prepared to deal with the abundance of water sports, hawkers and beachside bars etc. We would also like to make a special mention of one of the staff members: We signed our kids up to a couple of the hour long kids activities offered each day. 'Min' is one of the gentlest and kindest person you will ever meet and he ensured my kids had great fun whilst at the resort. Whilst the resort is not 5 star, the facilities are a combination of perfectly adequate or above expectation in all areas. Staff, on a whole are welcoming and helpful. We are already looking forward to returning to this great resort.
Friendly & very helpful staff. Lovely beach & pools for swimming. Great location close to Fisherman's village for markets & restaurants. Nice size room & quiet. Comfy king bed. Spoilt with love heart flowers on our bed for our anniversary. Activities available. Excellent breakfast.
We had 13 superb nights at the Bandara in May / June. We were lucky enough to experience both the plunge pool villa & the larger pool suite, we asked for an upgrade on arrival as we were there for hubbys 50th so wanted to treat ourselves, we were offered 6 nights in the plunge pool villa and our final 7 nights in a pool suite for what we considered a very reasonable price. The plunge pool villa was lovely, very traditional décor, the only minor faults were the water pressure in the shower wasn't fab and we there wearn't many plug sockets in convenient places, nothing to cause great concern though... everything else was great. The outside space was great and also very private. It was the big 50 while we were in this room & I had took some balloons & a 50th banner, I was going to go & decorate our room while hubby was round the pool but housekeeping beat me to it and made it look lovely :) We also received a yummy chocolate cake on the evening of his Birthday. We moved into the pool suite after 6 nights, that room was fabulous, the pool was bigger (a small swimming pool rather than plunge pool) the outside space was also nice & private, the only thing missing was a table & chairs, that would have been handy. The room was much more modern & the bathroom was great - good pressure in the shower & a ridiculously big bath. In both rooms they were generous with the complimentary water & housekeeping was to a good standard. The hotel in general was great, good breakfast & we had lunch there a few times when we were feeling lazy, also had a few happy hour cocktails. grounds & pools were very nice. All staff were lovely & really helpful. We loved Bophut, it has a lovely chilled vibe, there are so many great places to eat, we didn't eat in the same place twice on an evening, so much choice. All of this is within 10 - 20 mins walk from the hotel. We will be sure to go back here, absolutely could not fault either the hotel or Bophut, we have been to Thailand a few times now to different places & have enjoyed it each time, this holiday ticked every box though - favourite place so far :)
Love this hotel. Beautiful setting. Amazing views. Takes your breath away. Staff very friendly and helpful Lots of steps to climb between room and beach / pool and a very slow funicular if you can't walk. The. Bar was often closed which we didn't understand but they opened it for us one evening , would be nice to have cushions on the seating as quite uncomfortable. We liked the rooms each with private pool and always clean to high standard. We also had room service amazing Thai food and not expensive. Just hope we can stay for longer next time !
