I recently stayed at the Wyndham Guayaquil and I was impressed from the near beginning. When I first arrived, there was a problem with the room assigned me, but the staff responded immediately and upgraded the room to a water-view room higher up. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic and filling-- a never-ending hot and cold buffet with delicious oatmeal, yucca bread, omelets and granola/fruit. In the evening, the sign for the sauna and pool says it closes at 9, although the book in the room claims they close at 10. The staff adapted when I arrived at 9:30, expecting the sauna to be open, and opened it back up for me. Finally, I left in a hurry and completely forgot my iPad charging in the corner, as well as a dress. I called the hotel the following morning, when I realized what I'd done, and was greeted with such relief: they had the iPad and the dress and would hold onto them until I came. Overall, this experience with staff and the rooms was wonderful.
Very convenient to the Guayaquil Airport. 24 hour complimentary airport shuttle. We arranged the shuttle in advance, and the gentleman was waiting for us outside of customs with our name on a sign. We were at the hotel within 15 minutes. We felt very welcome. Hotel is beautiful, and very well maintained. Looked new. Breakfast is not complimentary, but had a vast selection. Customer service was outstanding. Wish we had more time to stay.
This past weekend I was in Guayaquil for the first time, staying at the Wyndham. The location is excellent- it´s walking distance from various tourist attractions, including Las Peñas, and La Perla (wheel with views of all Guayaquil). Short distance from the airport (15 mins), with free shuttle service included. Just below the hotel are various restaurants/bars on the waterfront. There is no issue with noise, the room was very quiet. The hotel is right on the river waterfront, I think all the rooms have a water view which is very nice. Good cleanliness of the room, bed very comfortable. (Only negative feedback: need more wait-staff at breakfast: there were 2 waiters for many tables and 2 days out of 3, I was unable to get someone to bring me coffee, tea or water. Recommend more wait-staff or making hot beverages available as self-service.) Service prior to check-in was excellent, I sent various emails with questions or requests and received responses almost immediately. All in all, a very pleasant stay and I recommend this hotel!
Hotel was close enough to walk to anywhere we wanted to go. Close to river where we saw otters. We had a view of the river from our room. Room had good facilities and hotel had a pool and jacuzzi. Staff were helpful and spoke English. Food was good and hotel catered for vegetarians.
Overnight stay on our way to Galapagos. Very convenient to the airport. Connected to promenade along the river with multiple restaurant choices. Breakfast buffet was above average. Nohelia at front desk for check in was very welcoming and helpful with recommendations for dining. Would have been great to have had more time in the hotel and the city.
Stayed twice on either end of our Galapagos cruise. Room assignments seemed a bit random; the hotel never seemed super crowded, but our first room was on the rather undesirable lowest floor. The windows aren't soundproof, so when you have view of the river, you also get the noise from the Malecon a bit. A higher floor is better. Even though we had submitted notes about room preferences and emailed about early check-in, those either didn't get through or were ignored. On the plus side, we were allowed to check in right after breakfast for no extra charge when our US flight arrived at 7a. River view is nice, even if the river itself is kind of gross. There was free bottled water in the room. Not m/any channels in English on the tv but good wifi. Breakfast was adequate; this traveler nervous about water/fruits might have liked more sufficient labeling, but we didn't get sick from the milk or fruits or jams or anything, which we appreciated on either end of our trip. Since we weren't really in Guayaquil to sight-see, we liked the location: relatively quiet/isolated from the hubbub of the city, next to a line of restaurants on the Malecon, close to the airport, felt safe. That said, there wasn't a lot to do either. No good shopping within walking distance as far as we could tell. For a newer hotel, to find stains on the linens and errant hairs was a bit disappointing. Beds were comfy, and it's possible this is the higher end for the city, just not on an international comparison. There's a good, quick shuttle to/from the airport. They use paper copies for credit cards, which can be a bit disconcerting when you're worried about errant charges. Nothing abysmal, nothing spectacular.
This is my new favorite hotel in Guayaqui is next to the Malecon area walking distance from las peñas, also a great boulevard of food joints next to it, rooms are spacious and very well kept, staff is nice (al though last time i had a hick up in the check out) great views of the Guayas river and a nice pool and recreational area I loved it
Personal was friendly. We were picked up at the airport. Room was large with view on the river. Beds were excellent. Breakfast perfect. And we liked the location, since we could walk to the old city center (The Santa Ana Capella) and to the Malekon.
Perfect location, extremely close to tourist attractions. We were very well welcomed and were amazed by the view! The food at the hotel was very good and there were also different restaurant in the area. Highly recommended!
It's really a business/ transit hotel in an interesting location next to the estuary. Nothing great but also nothing really poor. Quite a selection of places to eat along the front. Good sized rooms that were very clean.
