Bayview Hotel Guam3.0 out of 5.0

The Bayview has a very good location in Guam with a beautiful view over the bay. But that's all good to say about. There is a certain point, when even the friendliness of the staff cannot overcome an shabby building. Our room was smelling like an old cellar. It war very humid inside the room. I don't know in which decade the curtains were last cleaned. Dust and dirt was in the wooden ornament which is directly behind the bed. The bathroom facility was also very old and dirty. The walls between the rooms are as thin as paper. The pool was dirty and nobody cares about this area. The shower is broken. Pretty sad, because again, the view was nice. Actually we wanted to stay there 5 nights but we left after an awful first night. This was the best decision we could make! The other hotel was fantastic! If you really don't care where you sleep, or if it's just for one night, when you have a flight stopp it's ok. But for holidays I cannot recommend it. To the owner: Please renovate!!!!
Hotel could definitely use an upgrade. Room had a good view of the Pacific. Lots of Restaurants and shops nearby. Nice restaurant on site. If you walk to attractions, it is DOWNHILL. Which means uphill back.
We stayed here in our 5 day Guam trip. It was a fine experience but the hotel could use some improvement in infrastructure, foe instance it's elevators were quite old. The pool was also bot so well maintained. The rooms however were pretty good and clean. Overall I felt it was slightly above average experience.
PROS: Convenient location, good value for money, friendly, accommodating staff, clean, spacious, comfortable rooms with many practical amenities. Balconies with nice view of Tumon Bay. CONS: Rooms on the lower floors suffer from traffic noise. No chairs on the balconies. The hotel is showing some wear and tear, elevators and some hallways look a bit grim. We have stayed here twice, returning due to the many advantages and the good value for money. The Bayview is not on the beach, but is in a great location close to the beach, convenience stores, restaurants, shopping and shuttle buses. The common areas could use a little attention, but the rooms are clean, with comfortable beds and loads of useful things like a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, in-room safe, hair dryer, iron, mid-range toiletries plus free WiFi. Both times we stayed at the Bayview we arrived on an early morning flight, and were allowed an early check-in at no extra charge Some reviews have mentioned air con issues - we had no problem at all with the air conditioning during our stays. Nice to have a balcony, but we would have liked for there to be chairs so we could sit out on it occasionally. We definitely recommend the Bayview as a comfortable, practical option and as a base for exploring Guam.
Worst place we have stayed anywhere in the world . One week stay with no air conditioning in our room, while lobby was ice cold. Staff did not seem too concerned with our problem, while they wore jackets in the lobby. We talked to many others that had experienced the same problems. This hotel was no longer being used by the company that put us up there because of the constant problems. Parking was an utter joke, shared with restaurants out front and businesses. There was no where near enough parking for the amount of rooms and businesses. The entire week was spent in sweltering heat , and constantly looking for parking spaces. Was never so glad to leave a place, it was a shame because Guam was beautiful .
Staff looked like supervisors behind their reception table. very cold and unfriendly. I suggest a complete overhaul of staff attitude. You are in the hotel business guys. learn to smile a little! They should get their act together - I paid my bill the night before my check out. I thought everything was ok but the morning staff scrutinised my bill and demanded that I pay for a breakfast on the day that I was still out of Guam! How could I eat breakfast in their hotel when I was still on the plane and on my way into Guam? simple logic. She spent so much time figuring that out causing delay in my shuttle trip to the airport. Very bad experience with that hotel!
People are very friendly and nice, but they do not have good memory lol so you needa keep reminding them if you require something extra. Free water is only offered on arrival day, so you better get some water on 2nd day if you stay for more than a night! Remember cab won't be the choice from airport, its 1.5 times more expensive than hotel arranged shuttle. Air conditioning is very strong in my room, actually turning it low cool do not have significant different, but I agree that is better than not enough air con. It is super nearby beach and shopping mall (although that's not my aim to Guam) my key card always not working, so I always needed to come back reception desk after trying the card, that upset me when I was carrying heavy backpack or stuffs/water from supermarket! After experienced that twice continuously, I gave the card to reception every time I went back to the room, cut my time and effort walking around! Over all I like this hotel, and the price is making sense to its services I guess.
I only booked this place to take a quick shower and get some sleep before boarding a night flight out of the island. Was pretty good value compared to other similar motels in the same price range. But of course, have to factor in the "luck" of which room you get I suppose. Staff were friendly enough, and their breakfast was not too shabby!
I’d say we got the full experience at the Bayview Hotel in Guam. We arrived in March and stayed there for an entire month while we looked for a house. The room we had was pretty spacious; a nice television, refrigerator and microwave as well. The balcony allowed for some truly amazing views of the bay… get it… “Bay View”… never mind. The view is unbelievable, and in a place like Guam where it rains often, the sky is usually talking to you. The most interesting thing about the room in general is the AC. I can’t speak for every room, but the AC worked almost too well. The air in the room kicked hard and made the room very comfortable inside, however the thermostat did not work so the air stayed on constantly until you manually turned it off. Hey, better than it not working at all! The Staff are extremely courteous and friendly. The island hospitality is in full swing here. Everyone seems very willing to help and answer questions. Check in was swift and they provide you with all kinds of useful tips and information about the island. Housekeeping is diligent but a little unpredictable. Sometimes they come at noon, other times closer to 9am. Either way, if you’re not ready for service, they’re more than willing to come back if you give them a good time. The hotel has a restaurant and a tea shop. I never went to the restaurant, it was always packed, but the tea house decent. The hotel is only a half block away from downtown Tumon with all the restaurants and shopping you could ask for. Two of the best restaurants in town are less than a miles away, Meskla Dos and Rotary Sushi, both definitely worth a shot. Our stay at the Bay View was a long one, but I would definitely stay again should I ever find myself in Guam again. Good price, great hospitality and positive experience.
I have read a few bad reviews about this hotel but honestly I found it to be good to very good. The location is great - walking distance to all the shops and the beach. The room was large and very clean. The check in was efficient and they even changed our room so that we could check in early. We had a hire car and the parking was not an issue. There was always a space available (3 level car park next door or outside at the opposite end of the building). The wifi was included in the room rate and the speed was good. It had everything we needed at a good price.
