I'm sure this hotel is lovely, it looks lovely, which is why I decided to book it. Then they canceled my reservation the day of, claiming 'credit card decline'. Which is absolute BS, as my bank said no one even TRIED to process a payment. We have three other cards they could try, but nope, within ten seconds of canceling the booking they had already rebooked it. Then they tried to give me a different room (one bed instead of two) but for MORE money, complaining that people who book through the site I used don't pay enough. So if you're comfortable booking a great hotel that MIGHT leave you stranded in Guadalajara with no place to stay, this place looks great.
Trying not to be too critical. Im used to American style hotels so a little spoiled. Also never been to Guadalajara before - I vacation in PV that cater to Americans mostly. The toilet paper is folded very fancy see pic but on close observation the housekeepers need to shove the paper back into itself for the design which isnt that appealing to me. The sheets and duvet were stained, not dirty just nasty stained. We were a little put off that the housekeeper stripped the beds and remade them the second day with similar stained sheets. The big drawback for english speaking guests is nobody spoke a word of English. Really with a population in the multi millions they cant find bilingual staff? My sister speaks Spanish so we communicated just fine. They have a rooftop pool area that would be nice in warmer weather. The hallway was extremely noisy as its all tile and someone outside your room sounds like they are in your room. Recommend you stay on the backside as the street is busy. Because of the great location to museums, shopping and theatres i would never stay anywhere else.
Friendly, clean, with a truly helpful staff and a very nice breakfast (not included, but provided for a price). Near to all the cultural areas we wanted to visit, easy to find and easy to return to from most places in town. We loved it and will stay there anytime we are in the area.
Stayed at the Hotel Roma for 6 nights. The room is old yet clean. Window leaked during rain storm. We had to place towels under window. Hard to get extra towels as it seems that each housekeeper has an assaigned number per floor. No wash clothes so don't forget to take your own. Pool is cold and the jacuzzi even colder. I tried to enjoy the jacuzzi but it was almost torture! Hector, the doorman is a gem. He is cheerful and always courteous and helpful. The maintenance man, I forgot his name was also extremely helpful. No iron available and was also informed that there was a charge for it. Plus was that it is extremely close to many historical sites and cathedrals! I would stay here again only if the Hotel Morales was booked up! Never ate at restaurant in the hotel so I can't review it.
Hotel Roma is a modern hotel located just two blocks from the plaza de armas in Guadalajara. This location made finding a registered taxi or hailing an Uber at any hour very easy and transportation was quite affordable. The Hotel provides excellent toiletries and the staff are kind and helpful and they speak nearly any language you could want them to. They all seem to be quite knowledgeable of the area and are willing to provide guidance if you need assistance. The only negative experience I had with this hotel was when a drain in the bathroom plugged up, presumably from hair or something, and maintenance did not respond until the following day despite being assured by the front desk that someone was on their way. The wifi was also not as consistent as may be needed for someone who is traveling for business and it certainly would not have been able to handle a video call. If you are traveling to Guadalajara for a vacation and looking to see the "centro" area, this hotel is the perfect combination of location, service, and price. I highly recommend considering this hotel over higher priced alternatives.
You really can't beat the location of the hotel, 2 blocks away from the main plaza and catherdral. Breakfast was good and diversified throughout the week. Room was clean with refrigerated air. The only complaint would be that the walls are very thin, it's an old building so you can hear people in the hallway. Overall excellent stay with welcoming staff.
We had to change hotels the second day of our vacation in a previous hotel. This hotel sent a couple of people to pick up our luggage from the hotel Frances. The hotel staff made sure we were happy and worked above and beyond to make sure the accommodations were to our liking! Breakfast was great, we will totally stay there again.
I only book this hotel because of the pool. It turned out that the pool was under construction - and it didn't say so on the internet. I waited for 40 minutes for at roomservice call to the roof top and I had to go and get it my self. Later I waited 50 minutes for my roomservice-dinner and had to go to the reception again. It you only speak english, you should never go here! The rooms is the only good thing!
While visiting with my family Guadalajara, Hotel Roma was a last minute thing but it worked out perfectly. Hotel is Spotless! Very well located filled all my families needs for the unexpected stay! Walking distance to many beautiful places that surround this hotel. Great food all walking distance.. safe and mostly I have to point out the older bell boy who welcomed us providing us with all the hotels amenities that were not explained in the check in desk. Helped us with ac and all we need to know very, educated and pleasant person to deal with.
The hotel is in a good location very clean no complains at all it is close to everything, the staff are friendly there's this bell boy in particular his name is Hector as soon as we arrived to the hotel he was very friendly, attentive and very helpful we are planning to go back in a year and staying at the same hotel.
