First of all the clerk at the desk upon checking in gave us the wrong information about our room. Then he proceeded to send us to a restaurant which was closed and when it opened the service and food were terrible. When we returned from having breakfast we were told by the same clerk that he had made a mistake and that my credit card had been charged. His offer to allow us to stay in the room the next day, an extra hour was literally a joke. Finally the room we were booked into was on the third floor. With the elevator broken we had to drag our luggage down three flights of stairs! It goes without saying that the experience was really bad!

No air condition available ever LOUD BAND NIGHTLY. SLEPT 2 hours a night

Lets make one thing clear I stayed in this hotel for a week and #1 is the worst thing in my whole list of problems: 1. They played Live Mariachi music within the hotel from 10pm to 1 -1:30am we did not get a good night sleep the whole time 2. when the music finally stopped there were guest whose children ran ramped through the halls of the hotel 3. hotel was old and did not look like it is portrayed in the photos 4. tv was a 12inch 1990 big back which was broken and took them 2 hours to fix 5. one of the light bulbs in the room was out which we ask to get fixed their response was "let me see if we even have light bulbs" 6. the doors to the shower wouldn't close 7. the bed was uncomfortable 8.pillows linen were horrible

Poor maintenance, rooms in bad conditions nothing work.

WE WERE VERY PLEASED WITH THIS HOTEL, THE ROOMS WERE HUGE, AND THE SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT. CLOSE TO ALL OF THE SHOPPING STORES. WOULD STAY AGAIN,

I had reserved 2 rooms with 2 beds each. Got there and i was told that they have no rooms with 2 beds. Got a full plus a rolling bed for my daughter which falled to the floor when she turned. Wiffi only works at lobby or mostly outside your room. Front desk clerks laughing and playing most of the time and nobody is responsible. The manager/owner Rigo Oliveros is NEVER there or a way to contact him. We got bitten by many bed bugs and mosquitos. THERE IS NO AC. All Beds are really hard to sleep on. Very dissatisfied. Please use a Holiday Inn or a similar if you can. Stay away from this hotel. I wish i would have done that :(

Nice place, spectacular interior and exterior. You could feel how old the place was and that it had outlived many. The staff was incredibly friendly and the mariachi one night had the bartender come out and do a couple songs. Sitting in the common area was one of the most memorable thing s from this trip. A nice tequila listening to passing horse carriages trot by was my evening routine. No A/C in the room, but it was nice and clean and BIG. Kudos to Hotel Frances I would go back for sure!

The hotel needs to keep up with the maintenance, facilities are getting old, rust, dust, feels on the cheap end, low quality bedding. As far as location is great...

The staff is not very cheerful, but adequate. The Location is great when visiting Guadalajara centro.

This is an extremely old hotel in Mexico. Since 1610, this hotel has served the tourists that come to Guadalajara. Location: 5 minutes walking to the Zocalo, then to the plaza de la liberacion and then to the Rotunda de los Jaliciences illustres where you will also find Tapatio tours for a turibus tour of the city. (Actually there are 4 tours to choose from). Location: Great! The hotel: Do not expect a modern establishment. We are talking about a 404 years old hotel. Our room, 123, was clean and well defined although small. But this was not a holiday, it was a sleep over. Actually, we stayed there for 2 nights and were very happy with our stay. Parking (Free) is done by the staff. When we went there, there was construction that prevented us from getting to the hotel but the staff was present to guide us and park our car for us. Food: The dining area adjacent to the hall is where we had one breakfast. This was a bit expensive as would be expected in a hotel. But it was good. Atmosphere: Both nights we were there, there was live music (mariachis). Of course, if you want to got to bed at 9:00 pm, this is a problem. But for tourists, this is great. The band was excellent and the featured solo singer was also top quality. Summary: No question about it, I recommend this hotel. Quality/Price ratio is excellent.

A very lovely place, the history and knowing that it was the first hotel in Guadalajara made this experience a very unique for my son and I. It's very convenient to all downtown historical sites, restaurants and all that Guadalajara has to offer within walking distance. The staffs was very friendly, I definitely recommend the hotel if you're looking for something with history and convenient.

My son and I enjoyed our stay. It gave us the opportunity to walk to most of the local historical sites. I recommend the place for someone that is looking to stay at something with lots of history. Friendly staff!!!

Hotel is afordable clean and great location definitely worth the price

This is in a good location, close to parks, shopping and the Cathedral. There was a special function going on which I enjoyed. Things were quiet by 9:30 pm. The hotel is old, but classic. I had trouble with the elevator, but after figuring it out, managed. It was like a step back in time.

The hotel is centrally located in downtown the Jr. Suite with jacuzzi is a perfect room for couples. I would have rated the amenities "Perfect" but we arrived early in the morning and elevator was not working so we had to carry our luggage. Also, I would have rated Staff "Perfect" but the girl workig the front desk was not friendly at all and did not even offer us an option while waiting for our room. At check out she did not want to hold our luggage at the front desk. The Bartender was very sweet and polite. Overrl the hotel is a perfect place to stay old but beautiful and well maintained I would highly recommend it!

The rooms and general interiors are nice, it looks old but beautifully kept. Some rooms, though, are on a side of the building that makes them too noisy because of the clothing stores outside (which are always playing loud music). The restaurant is also very average, but the prices are very good.

This is a very good hotel with very good location downtown

We visited Guadalajara just as a getaway and we were looking for a Hotel downtown so we could walk to the nearby attractions. The location is excellent, a few feet away from everything, the only think missing in the hotel is a little bit more of charm, since the rooms are a little bit gloomy.

Despite its central location, pricing is reasonable though the room is kind of old. Yet, it had its necessities.
