Good things: Location OK (had to take 40-50 peso taxi to the expo conference center, or walk 20+ minutes each);; plenty of taxis available; bellman helpful; US-type plugs (good for me!); very good breakfast and wait staff; beautiful pool and outdoor patio area; bed pretty comfortable. Bad or annoying: had to re-charge my room key twice during 5 night stay; very few staff speak english (so tonight waited an hour for room service - called back and they delivered right away - they had the wrong room number); no business center; a bar in the lobby, but not open during the day; computers in lobby, but no business center or printers; bathroom sink strong smell of mold; on this last night in the hotel, the air conditioner is blowing, but not cooling. i give up trying to call them to fix - they can't understand what I'm saying, and never responded to one colleague's call to bring a working hair dryer, or another colleaugues pre-locked safe. In fact of 4 of us staying here 3 of the safes do not work - locked closed or open and no one responds to come and fix.
I stayed here for 11 days. It's a typical Holiday Inn Express. Good swift check in, nice breakfast and good Wifi. Location of this one is great. Bang opposite Plaza De Sol mall. There is KFC and McDonalds just a minute away. You can get uber and taxis easily. I would still prefer the Staubridge at Gdl expo as it offers laundry and better spread on breakfast.
Everything was perfectly clean, the furniture was pretty new and overall seems like a modern building. The staff was very kind and useful with me. The entrance to the rooms area is gated and you need your key in order to open, which gives a sense of added security.
Good hotel for business travel . Rooms are spacious and the wifi is good. The hotel is very nicely located, it is just opposite to Plaza Dell Sol and is at a walking distance from Guadalajara expo. Only problem is they don't have room service. I arrived 11 PM and and has to go without dinner that night. They have breakfast buffet spread only, which is not that great but not bad also.
Once you are in the hotel, buses noise canine heard all around the lobby. You might think noise will lower once in your room but it does not. It is not worth at all for 100 USD a room!!! Guadalajara have much better hotels.
Coming to Guadalajara for business for the first time I heard all the stories, yet at the Holiday Inn Express I felt safer than a nun in a brothel… When you pull up to the hotel you are greeted by at least one big guy with a earpiece, suit, and a smile, yes they make you feel comfortable, but they will also get you a cab, and assist you in brining in your luggage. Somehow they have the perfect mix between Stephen Siegal and Jeeves from Fresh Prince of Bellaire. When you get to your floor, there is another entry door for key access, adding just one more level of security. We had one of the balcony rooms, and if you got the extra 25 bucks to spend, I say it's well worth it. Our room was clean, the bed comfortable, and they even leave you an extra toothbrush, toothpaste, and some mouthwash. This touch went a long way after a long day, personally I got lazy, so I just used theirs. Thanks IHG.. The bathroom was small, but clean, the water pressure in the shower could use a jolt of Mexican chili to get it up to normal speed, but the only real disappointment were the towels as they were like rubbing toast on your body after a nice shower… The hotel has an amazing looking pool and gym, both of which we regrettably didn't have time to enjoy, but they looked both luxurious, and well kept. The days are hot here Mexico in the summer, and the pool, gym, and room look out on a calm view of the mountains, which is a nice juxtaposition from the craziness of the city. There is a Mcd’s, Burger King, and Pizza Hut across the street and never did we feel unsafe, dirty, or not well looked after. Hopefully by your visit, management would of upgraded the harsh towels to something soft… If not, buy a cheap one across the street and enjoy the view, clean room, and free breakfast. Defiantly a nice hotel and well worth the money. UPDATE: I have returned to Holiday Inn Express more than 3 more times since my first review, the towels have gotten better and it is a good homebase for me and anyone wanting a place to lay their head on a clean, safe bed.
Conveniently Located near the Expo, Clean and Comfortable Rooms, but VERY noisy if you have a room to the street. Did I say VERY NOISY? Actually it is very very noisy!! Asking for a room on the other side of the hotel, changed everything. So definitely ask for a room away from the street, and if there is no room available, go somewhere else. It is that bad. Also, there is no mini bar in the room and no real food available in the hotel. Fortunately, there are many options for food and drink nearby. The rooms are a good size and so are the bathrooms. The bed and pillows are comfy. Wifi was very slow and was freezing up all the time. FaceTime was almost impossible. Good location for shopping, and places to visit within walking distance. Price is very reasonable.
Was here for 5 days while in the city for meetings. Standard holiday inn express experience. Clean rooms, simple breakfast buffet and fast wifi. Prices are slightly expensive than usual but the location ( opposite plaza Del sol) more than compensates for a price mark up. Plenty of restaurant and food options around. Tip: don't pick the rooms facing the street if noise bothers you.
I stayed while on a business trip, and had the fortune to share the hotel with a huge number of families with kids visiting for a soccer tournament. Dozens of rambunctious 8 year olds dominated the place, but the staff took care of us. They saved a separate breakfast room away from the noise. The hotel can't be responsible for the loud and very cute kids but they did their best and I appreciate it
Check in was quick and the staff were friendly. I ended up on the executive floor but did not really feel that it was any different from the other floors. The room was a good size and so was the shower. Wifi was terrible could not open more than 2 tabs at a time and there was no chance of making a Skype call. Bedding was great and you had a choice of pillows. Room was very dark and did not have enough light at night and the shower curtain was ripped.
