This is by no means the hotel of horrors some reviews depict and is a good place to stay, not sketchy. Stayed for 1 night on a Saturday on way thru Grants seeing the monuments. Stayed in upstairs king facing front of building. Room was very large, clean and quiet and hence rounding up to 4 stars. Property is nothing fancy but gets the job done. Front desk friendly on check in though didn't ask how my stay was on check out which is always a nice touch. Tv/wifi good. Breakfast the usual Choice Hotels basic stuff to get you on the road. Only issue was loud refrigerator I couldn't be bothered with and just turned it off. Hotel was quiet certainly not fully occupied and mainly tourists. Property is furthest from the interstate in this part of town which makes it nearest the railroad but still far away so did not hear it other than a low rumble now and then and they don't sound their horns thru this part of town (unlike Gallup). Rate was cheaper than the Comfort Inn which is right next to the interstate so QI seems like good value. Not much to Grants beyond the interstate there are motels half the price further in town which have seen better days in the last century, suggest staying by the interstate area regardless of where Elvis used to stay. Or pay twice the price at Holiday Inn if you really want to live it up but you'll wake up in the same town. And if you need your car washed then Grants is the place to stop, never seen so many in one town. Worth the stopover to properly see El Malpais and El Morro, impressive confluence of volcanic and sandstone landscapes.
Standard, good, hot Quality Inn breakfast--plentiful food. Good double queen beds. Quiet, spacious room with good lighting on 2nd floor in back. No elevator. Lounge chairs near eating area need a serious cleaning. Slow wifi, antiquated computer in lobby. Parking plentiful. They were short staffed for cleaning upon check in so we had to wait an hour for our room to be prepared so that we could access at 4 PM. Easy checkout.
We were pleasantly surprised by how spacious the room was, with a king bed, separate area with sofabed, minifridge, coffee maker. The bed was extremely comfortable with crisp new sheets. My only complaint was how loud the AC and toilet were!
Broken doors, filthy floors, TV's that work oddly, sheets that scratch and a window air conditioner that blows right on you - just what I didn't want. This motel needs a huge make over! I was afraid to walk on the floors in my barefeet! If this is a "a better choice" I would hate to see what the other places look like. Upgrade this place and steal the market!
Easy to get on and off I-40 Room was clean, easy check-in, everyone was friendly. The hotel needs some updating, breakfast was good, until I saw the banana's, they looked awful, don't feed your guests stale black banana's, it's a real turnoff
The check-in and check-out were the best parts of the stay. As was the breakfast. But, what I was greeted by in terms of maintenance has restored my faith in Quality Inns as being at the bottom of my preference list. First, the kleenex or toilet paper jammed into the door where obviously a peephole had once been. Second, the cleanliness of the room. Third, the padlock on the cable holding the TV set. Seeing stuff like that makes me wonder about the clientele a place like this attracts in terms of cleanliness and the safety of my vehicle and property while I'm staying. I'll likely be looking elsewhere should I stay in Grants again...
Stayed at hotel past weekend and was pleasantly surprised vs. my stay at another hotel in Grants a few weeks earlier (see reviews). Hotel was clean, rooms spacious, decent breakfast, and very good service. Plenty of parking and a much safer place. Definitely worth a few extra bucks to go here and would stay again.
I hadn't planned on staying here when I did but the other hotel I booked (in another city) had lost my reservation. I was very happy that this hotel had availability. The location was great (freeway friendly), the check-in process was quick, and I was very appreciative of their accommodating my request for a ground floor room (I have to cart in a lot of work stuff that I can't leave in the car). The staff was very helpful and efficient. There was a new person behind the desk, and he did a great job. The room was clean and well-appointed with all the amenities I expect from a Choice hotel. I did have an issue with the air conditioner, as it seemed to shut off when it shouldn't have. Also, the wifi went down at one point but when I called the front desk, they rebooted it, and it appeared to work fine after that. The bed was comfortable, the shower was hot, and the breakfast was decent enough, probably a step up from other hotels of this class. I've already booked my next stay here for my work trip this month.
The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The facility is very dated, and not overly soundproof. Glad I was on the 2nd. Floor. Room was clean, linens were clean, bathroom was well equipped, had coffee and coffee maker. Not really close to anything. Rooms are very dated. Entire facility could use a face-lift. But was fine for a single night
My husband and I recently stayed there with our three-year-old great-niece for a family reunion. We had a large room with two comfortable queen beds. There was a microwave and a small refrigerator in the room, as well as a small table. The water in the shower could have been hotter. The breakfast was okay; it included bacon and eggs, along with waffles and a selection of cereals, breads and pastries. I liked it that they served breakfast from 6:30 to 9:30. The juice machine was out of order on the third morning of our stay. The fitness center was pretty small, but adequate. There was an indoor pool that looked clean and inviting. Our room faced a field, and you could see the trains going by at a distance. Our great-niece loved watching the trains, but you really had to listen for them. The sound did not bother me at all. There is no elevator, but the manager quickly moved us to a room on the first floor upon our request. The hotel is located not far from the highway, a Walmart, a Denny's, and several fast food restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will return the next time we are in town.
