We have stayed several times at this property as we travel from AZ to the Midwest and return. The reason we stay here instead of Albuquerque is that it is a few miles closer to home and makes an easy drive on the final day of our trip. I made a reservation for the end of September and while reviewing all my reservations for our upcoming trip I noticed that this property was showing a 7% service added to my daily rate. The 7% is in addition to a tax rate of 13.13% so that adds up to taxes and fees in excess of 20%! I think that is excessive anywhere but especially in Grants, NM. Will someone from the hotel tell me what the 7% service charge is for? Their website says the hotel offers free wi-fi and free parking. I cancelled my reservation and we will now stay in Albuquerque even though it will be a bit of a longer drive home on the final day.

Good property right off I-40 and close to Route 66. Typical quality of a Holiday Inn Express. For train buffs, book a room on the backside of the hotel on the top floor - you have a great view of the BNSF main line - a train about every 20 minutes. Even spotted Amtrak's Southwest Chief. Don't fear, it's far enough away you can't hear them. Rooms at the south end of the building are next to a street that leads directly to Walmart. Amazing how many semis stop at Walmart.

All is there what you'd expect from a Holiday Inn Express. Extra Kudos to reception staff who are super friendly. What I really don't understand however, is that housekeeping knocking the door loudly at 8.30am. When I opened the door I asked why they are doing this that early in the morning already. The lady just walked away without saying anything. When I returned to my room after breakfast, room key was already not working anymore. They really want to have you out as fast as possible in the morning...

I was given a price for 2 rooms with my Military discount and when I went to check out I was charged over $40.00 more per room than quoted before taxes. I called and finally got the manager the only one in the hotel that can do a credit. He said no problem I will fix it, should take about 7-10 days. Which is garbage holding onto peoples money for that long. Well that time went by and I call and I get, he is in meeting he will call you back, I call back 2 hours later , he went home. The next day I call back then get put on hold then oh he just left to the bank, (wow, really) So now I am going through the bank and through the Holiday Inn cooperation. So if you don't care about your money it is a great place to stay. Room and breakfast was fine.

After reading reviews, we decided to book here on road trip even though it was far more expensive than other Grants hotels. The room was large, clean, and quiet, and the staff was friendly. The breakfast was OK, with some pre-made little omelettes and scrambled eggs, but no ketchup, hot sauce, or salsa for eggs. There was a strong, awful, toxic smell in the elevator and surrounding areas--maybe exhaust from the ice or vending machine? Overall, the hotel is fine--just not sure it is worth twice the price of others in the area.

This property is relatively new and in good condition. The rooms weren't cramped and the bathrooms were clean. We needed a stopping place for the night and booked 2 rooms in advance. Upon arrival, a long line of people were waiting to register. Several were walk-ins and weren't lucky enough to find a place to stay. The complimentary breakfast included scrambled eggs and bacon. Our room faced west but I suspect those with east facing rooms were treated to a lovely sunrise. Yes, we would book this property again.

This hotel suited our needs as we wanted to visit El Malpais and El Morro. Our first impression was of a very unpleasant smell in the elevator, which lasted throughout our three night stay. Our room was very good, very well equipped, lots of storage space and good lighting. Nice big bathroom, which is important to me, so there was lots of space for our toilet bags, we often find a severe shortage of space for such things in other hotel bathrooms, but the towels were rough. Good breakfast.

Took 30 minutes to check in- that is with a reservation. Their mistake said reservation was denied even tho I had the confirmation. Finally found correct information. In the meantime about 10 others were waiting to check in. Room, shower & bed were good. Breakfast was horrible at 7 a.m. There was food on the floor, eggs were scarce and cold and hard. Never refilled the eggs, bacon, etc. pans. Juice ran out and pancake machine was misfunctioning. Biscuits were cold and gravy was seperated. Person behind desk was also trying to run kitchen. Need better trained staff!

I recently spent 2 nights here while hiking nearby with friends. As an ING Rewards member I stay at lots of HIEs around the country as well as similar class hotels by Hilton and Marriott. Reading some of the other reviews here I wasn't sure I had the right hotel as I had none of the problems written about here. For me, this was a typical stay, which is a good thing, and it met my expectations.

Stay at holiday inn for about month housekeeping didn't dust or clean the tub . Microwave was broken and was never fixed or replaced 2 weeks there room got robbed. Taking my GPS and robbing fellow co-workers. I keep your valuable in your trunk of your car
