First, the hotel is $199/night for a flexible rate, so my expectations were high. I arrived 3 hours before check in and the front desk staff alerted me that the room was not ready. You mean to tell me that in this 4 story ~240 unit hotel there isn't one room ready? Strike one. So i slept on the couch for an hour as I was absolutely exhausted. I got up after an hour and asked again, saying "I'll take the broom closet if it's clean" and they put me in another room. The room service is subject to a $3.00 + 15% charge which doesn't include tip - somehow I've lost my appetite. Strike two. To their credit the room was clean. On my third day I went to the restaurant for lunch at 2 pm. The restaurant was closed, and the staff handed me a card with the restaurant hours that was litterally 14 lines - all this writing, no food. The lady at the desk advised that they don't have enough staff to keep the restaurant open - this is ridiculous. The Sandman down the street charges approx. $150 a night and has a Denny's open 24 hours. Strike three. I stay exclusively at IHG hotels because of the points, except for in Grande Prairie I'll just find a bridge to sleep under.
Rooms are very clean and modern. WiFi did not work. Breakfast not included. The front desk staff are pleasant but don't not very helpful. The hotel restaurant breakfast has very little buffet items and absolutely no taste and the cost of $12.00 for guests when area hotels offer a better included breakfast seems crazy. Check area hotels. I've stayed in others and would do so again.
I booked this hotel because i had a wedding to attend in the hotel, when i booked it i indicated that I needed an accssible room and close to anelevator as my mobility and bones are very poor. When i got there she asked for my credit card and id. I passed her my debit visa and drivers license. She looked and said kind of snootily we do not take these, i had called to confirm 3 weeks before just to avoid any issues. Nope she would not let me check in. Finally my dad called and put my room under his card. She called me over and gave me the keysi looked down and saw we are on the 3rd floor which would have been fine but we were the farthest away from everything possible. As myself amd daughter took off on our treck to the room i had a full blown pannic attack. I had to get my 12 year old daughter to push me down on a baggage cart. This was a humiliating stay and i will never stay there agIn
Loud workers all ours of the night. Went to desk to ask what we could do, and got rude guy saying i was angry when all i wanted was a different room. I don't get angry. Buy i did get annoyed. It was clean but all rooms are now days. Up to you.
I booked the hotel via Expedia for a recent business trip. To my disappointment, the hotel is undergoing major renovations for most of the summer. The lobby is one big dust bowl, and only one half of the reception counter is open. The restaurant is completely shutdown and the noise during the day is unbearable. The construction crew keeps the noise down after 5:30 PM, but they are still working at around 7 PM and maybe later. The rooms are nice and spacious, the bathrooms a little below par (big, but cheap and plastic amenities), and the hotel is centrally located just west of downtown. The construction really spoiled my 2-night stay here.
My mom and I stayed for a night before our flight back to Ontario. The hotel is a 5 min drive to the airport. There are so many restaurants within walking distance, it's hard to choose. Across the street,there is a huge strip mall with great stores. Check in was smooth and desk people polite and efficient. We were given a room on 3rd floor directly beside the construction. We immediately called front desk and they moved us to the 2nd floor which was much quieter. The hotel is under a major renovation and there are construction workers around from 8am-6pm every day of week. Not a big deal really unless yiu want to sleep in and your on 3rd floor. The room was clean and big enough. The beds were amazingly comfortable. The sheets were awesome. We used the indoor pool and the hot tub, which were both clean and served the purpose. Apparently they are also renovating the pool and that area at end of may so it will be closed down at that time. We used the free airport shuttle in the am. It's a standard mini-bus type of vehicle which the driver was great. Very friendly. The times were odd though. We wanted 630am but they only had 545 and 700, so not sure what type of schedule it easy on. We didn't use the continental breakfast nor the restaurant for breakfast because they opened later. I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here the next time I pass through.
Well, I would have rated average but ..... limited fruit on the breakfast buffet (no pineapple cause "they ran out". Really? Go to the grocery store and get some!), and no blinds to block out the light. Sure there were sheers but no blinds. Makes it hard to sleep in. Oh, and not enough staff to keep someone at the front desk at all times....a definite security risk. To top this off, there is no name on the outside of the building idicating that is it a "Holiday Inn". Makes it hard to find.
Room was clean, restaurant was great, website is absolutely horrible, 15 kids running around unsupervised and screaming in the pool, we had to leave. Check in was horrific because of the website. Wouldn't stay again. Much nicer for the same price in the area.
Stayed over for one night while travelling through town. The double queen room was clean with the usual amenities. There was not a free breakfast. There was a restaurant that offered a breakfast buffet for about $11. The food was very good quality. This hotel is very close to the box stores on the west side of Grande Prairie.
Good hotel with excellent service. Upgraded to a king in a quieter area for free as there were Christmas parties. Will go back. Great option for leaving our car when we flew out of GP. Shuttle service to and from airport was excellent.
